Chapter 304: Four Groups Used the Witness and None Called It Jiang

The hearing did not ask whether the Unchosen Witness was useful.

The open load gate had answered that.

It asked whether anyone could use what the witness did without lending it the identity of the person whose refusals shaped it.

He could object if the system attached his body, family, lovers, debts, or authority. He could not define what cooperation meant for four other parties.

The second glass plate opened a narrow exterior slot. Behind it, a6.4-kilogram comparison mirror rested at an angle that reflected only the open rail. The witness could rotate it with its beak and current eleven-kilogram lift.

"Observation accepted after two living checks," the caller said. "The witness is not a scout, route leader, colony member, or source of final safety."

Nera asked the witness to show the three evidence panels behind its wrong conclusion.

The witness rotated the mirror thirty-one degrees. All three panels entered view: strength geometry, completed lift, and citation tariff.

It did not cite them.

Miri read each source aloud and compared it with the stored conclusion. The residents used the witness’s physical movement while supplying the missing verification themselves.

"Task cooperation accepted," Nera said. "Resident admission, keeper duty, testimony ownership, and Jiang identity all remain zero."

Miri ended the mirror task.

Aylin approached her independent answer line last.

She requested the witness show the point where White Road Sovereign’s route line ended at the comparison rail. The clear beak pushed the mirror fourteen degrees south. The reflected white line stopped before the opened load gate.

The witness had compared that body. It had never activated its road authority.

Aylin inspected the ending without stepping onto the line.

"I accept one physical inspection from the construct," she said. "It is not my physician, road sovereign, successor, subject, patient, relative, partner, or version of Jiang. It gains no royal standing from my answer."

It could perform useful work.

Every group could verify that work, end its own role, and refuse the names the system tried to attach afterward.

The two unsupported conclusions stayed visible behind the mirror. Cooperation had not made them reliable. Black-Crown required a bounded inspection. Split-Beak required two living checks. The residents supplied missing sources. Aylin accepted only the physical view.

Each protocol made the witness usable without pretending its lost constraint had returned.
