Transformed into a Penguin: My Evolution Penguin System
Chapter 295: Six Stronger Bodies Asked Six Different Prices
Zone Two did not offer Jiang one stronger body.
It offered six ways to become useful before he noticed what had stopped mattering.
He accepted a zero-load survey with both exterior releases staffed, Camp Site1 awake limit12:00, and Zone Two maximum06:00. No beam activation, payment attachment, strength interval, or witness access was included.
Aylin remained outside her branch. Hessa watched the wound before entry. Anik and Nera Holt held the separately marked releases. Leth watched for any payment prompt that appeared outside Jiang’s direct view.
[ZERO-LOAD SURVEY]
[Entrant:Jiang1 | Zone maximum06:00]
[Beam activation0/6 | payment authorization0]
[Exterior releases2 | deeper destination0]
Jiang entered the native throat on living entry11.
He crossed the comb laterally and stopped at Camp Site1. The rails, linen, and slate remained dry. Occupants0. Witness7 remained sealed beyond the basin with removal answers0/2.
The northern iris opened to penguin width only after Jiang confirmed the zero-load condition again.
[ZONE TWO ENTRY1]
The chamber placed all six beams around his current body.
Muscle stood over the breast and flipper roots. Bone aligned with keel, ribs, hips, and short leg bones. Pressure formed a narrow ring around the heart. Speed ran beneath both feet and along the flipper edges. Recovery faced the open left wake-keel gap. Size surrounded the full emperor outline without touching it.
The room had not mapped a generic warrior.
It had mapped a wounded emperor penguin at65% molt.
Jiang approached Muscle without entering its light.
[MUSCLE LOAD PREVIEW]
[Interval00:90]
[Pectoral and flipper-root output:+22%]
[Brood-load stability:+16%]
[Mobility10 unchanged | Pressure Heart64 unchanged]
[Payment:remove refusal to accept assigned living burdens without current answer]
The gain would improve hauling, ice climbing, water acceleration, and any fight that began at the breast. It would not lower heart load or close the wound. After payment, Jiang could still remember every time he insisted that another person’s burden required a current answer. The insistence would no longer govern him.
The extra output also remained trapped behind current safety limits. Pressure Heart at64% still prohibited deliberate cardiac use. The left wake-keel gap still punished a hard turn, and mobility remained10. Jiang could push more force through the same constrained body for ninety seconds, but using all of it would make the unchanged heart and wound carry a larger mechanical demand. Muscle offered power, not permission from anatomy.
Muscle did not make him cruel. It removed one reason to stop being useful.
The Bone beam waited beside it.
[BONE LOAD PREVIEW]
[Interval00:90]
[Keel compression tolerance:+31%]
[Rib fracture threshold:+18%]
[Foot and claw force transfer:+12%]
[Payment:remove embodied return obligation tied to Lee Jiang and youngest brother]
The beam could let Jiang survive a load that would crush his current chest. The price left his brothers’ names, calls, and requests readable. It removed the force that made survival point back toward home.
He could use the stronger skeleton to cross worlds and remember that he once intended to return.
Intention would stop behaving like debt.
Pressure formed the most immediately useful offer.
[PRESSURE LOAD PREVIEW]
[Interval00:90]
[Effective Pressure Heart load64->49% during interval]
[Deliberate cardiac use available below60]
[Post-interval load returns64%]
[Payment:remove emergency consent boundary learned from Aylin’s first reversion question]
For ninety seconds, Jiang could use the heart power currently prohibited to him. The beam would not heal damage or guarantee safe use. Its payment removed the behavior that treated emergency need as unable to overrule another person’s current bodily permission.
The memory of Aylin asking before lifting him from discarded clothes would remain.
The next emergency could simply feel more important.
Jiang moved to Speed.
[SPEED LOAD PREVIEW]
[Interval00:90]
[Aquatic burst:+38%]
[Surface mobility10->23%]
[Turning penalty from wound retained]
[Payment:remove chosen affiliation behavior that waits for separately led rookery exits]
The beam did not merge Black-Crown and Split-Beak. It changed Jiang so their separate answers no longer delayed his movement. He could remember both leaders and understand that they had their own routes while ceasing to wait for those routes before advancing.
Speed charged him for being interruptible by allies he did not own.
Recovery faced the wound.
[RECOVERY LOAD PREVIEW]
[Interval00:90]
[Bleeding suppression100% during interval]
[Pain response:-70%]
[Current wound closure projection1.0->0.6cm]
[Closure retained after interval if tissue remains unstrained]
[Payment:remove grief behavior prohibiting posthumous work assignment]
Recovery offered the only permanent physical improvement among the six previews. It could close four millimeters of the wake-keel line if Jiang protected the tissue afterward.
The cost did not erase Fourth-Beat or Harl. It removed the behavior that kept their deaths from becoming route markers, offices, and labor when using them would help the living.
Jiang would still grieve.
His grief would stop refusing employment for the dead.
Size surrounded him last.
[SIZE LOAD PREVIEW]
[Interval00:90]
[Body mass:+34% | standing height:+19%]
[Reach and shove force:+27%]
[Current0.27m route compatibility:0]
[Payment:remove refusal of owner, founder, and default command classification when capacity is highest]
The larger emperor body could move debris, shield smaller penguins, and hold a passage alone. It would not fit the comb route used to reach the chamber. During the interval, exit required an alternate opening the beam had not yet previewed.
Activating Size before locating that opening could strand Jiang inside Zone Two for the full interval. Two exterior releases could not pull a body that no longer fitted the route between them.
Its payment made superior capacity feel like sufficient authority.
Jiang completed the circle without entering any beam.
[SURVEY COMPLETE6/6]
[Loads activated0 | intervals begun0]
[Payments0 | behavioral constraints removed0]
[Strength gained0 | injury change0]
The six prices were not random cruelty. Each removed the behavior most likely to prevent efficient use of that gain. Muscle removed refusal of assigned burdens. Bone removed return. Pressure removed emergency consent limits. Speed removed waiting for separate affiliations. Recovery removed protection of the dead. Size removed refusal of authority.
Zone Two built strength by deleting the reason strength might remain unused.
The center floor combined three outlines after Jiang finished mapping them.
[COMPOSITE BODY PREVIEW AVAILABLE]
[Muscle + Pressure + Speed]
[Designation:Deep-Current Emperor]
[Full terms available on separate current answer]
Jiang did not request those terms under a survey that excluded body offers. The designation remained visible without becoming acceptance.
He exited Zone Two at04:48.
[ZONE TWO RETURN1]
At Camp Site1, Jiang checked the marker slate against all six displayed gains and prices. The slate had recorded terms, not constraints. Camp occupants remained0.
He returned through the native throat at11:36.
[LIVING RETURN11 | injury0 | body material0]
Twelve minutes had passed.
Food stood1:28. Fuel remained0. Residents remained133. Cala’s compact answer retained0:45. Seasonal Passage remained complete through cycle4. Jiang’s labyrinth entries/returns stood11/11. Aylin branch entries/returns stood3/3. Zone Two entries/returns stood1/1.
All six loads remained inactive. Payments0. Strength0. Behavioral constraints removed0. Witness7 remained sealed. Camp owner/residence/sleep/occupants0. Exterior releases2.
Jiang’s build remained EP0, Pressure64%, Cold0/47, mobility10%, wound1.0cm, bleeding0, feather loss4, water deficit0.11L, Weather Wake storage0/residue0, and molt65%.
The chamber had shown him six stronger penguins.
The first composite was waiting to explain which three limits it needed gone.
