Chapter 1594: Chapter 321: Is He Really a Good Person?
These are not ordinary bullets. As a member of the Black Religious Congregation’s action group, relying solely on ordinary bullets to navigate the Non-Human world is nothing but wishful thinking.
The bullets are specially crafted and pose great damage to Non-Humans like magicians, and even pose a certain threat to Non-Humans associated with the physical types.
There are Non-Humans who can dodge them, but catching them effortlessly with a mere finger is rare… The woman feels lucky; she happened to encounter one in this mansion.
She takes a deep breath and slowly stands up — still using the sheet to cover her body, but now she lowers the handgun, realizing she might have fallen into a Non-Human’s residence.
Now thinking back, that black-haired young man she had threatened was indeed overly calm.
The bullet fired was directly seized by Eve, “Ms., I’m glad you didn’t continue to attack. Otherwise, according to the agreement, I would have classified you as an intruder and dealt with it.”
The woman does not know what agreement the maid is referring to, but assumes it’s likely the mansion’s rules… She furrows her brow without saying anything further.
She fainted from severe injury, and although surgery had been performed, her body evidently could not support vigorous activity… As for that set of armor, it was not the time to use it — moreover, the pendant was lost, likely falling into the hands of the other party.
If… if her physical condition weren’t so dire, with her armor’s performance, she wouldn’t fear the mysterious Non-Humans inhabiting this mansion.
But… which side does this mansion belong to? How should she proceed with contacting them?
The woman feels troubled.
“Ms., since you’ve awakened…” Eve suddenly speaks: “My master asks you to see him upon waking.”
Master?
This woman, who caught cultivation-specialized demon-breaking bullets with her bare hands, actually has a master — she stares at the maid outfit, slightly stunned… Indeed, she should have a master.
Master… the black-haired young man at the mansion entrance.
“Alright, I’ll see him.” After a moment’s thought, the woman nods directly… Then, in front of Eve, she unabashedly removes the sheet and dresses.
Only then does she realize her clothes have been cleaned thoroughly, looking completely renewed… She remains silent for several seconds before calmly saying, “Thank you, for cleaning my clothes.”
They performed surgery, saving her life, yet she hadn’t expressed thanks; instead, in this trivial matter, she becomes polite — Eve’s eyes, different from a normal person’s, flicker as if contemplating something.
Thus, Eve expressionlessly states, “Aside from dirt and dust, your clothes also had bloodstains, filth level four. Master You Ye said dirty things must not approach the master, especially dirty women.”
The woman opens her mouth… dirty, since joining cultivation, being called dirty — this might be the first time.
“Level four… what’s the next level?” The woman asks, suppressing her anger.
Eve coolly replies, “Flirtatious women, indiscreet women, women who cheat, and dragons.”
The previous parts are manageable; the woman can roughly deduce what the so-called Master You Ye is thinking, but the last part, dragon — what does that mean?
Shaking her head, the woman sighs, then earnestly says, “I’m ready; take me to see your master.”
“This way, please.” Eve makes an impeccable inviting gesture.
Not human-like… the woman suddenly feels this way, similar to the death warriors trained by the congregation, emotionless like machines.
“What’s your name?” The woman immediately asks.
“Eve.”
Eve… the first woman created by God among Heaven and Earth?
The woman is momentarily lost in thought.
…
Her contemplation doesn’t last long; from leaving the room to reaching the destination only costs a few minutes — the kitchen.
A semi-open kitchen — a large kitchen, with a rectangular stone table placed in the center.
Boss Luo stands in front of the stove, wearing an apron, exuding a somewhat domestic-man vibe.
Before the woman enters, she smells the enticing aroma, her body instinctively responding, with saliva secreted at a slightly faster rate than usual.
She tells herself it’s likely because her body is injured and urgently needs nutrients, hence the signal.
“Master, the person is here.” Eve dutifully carries out each command, “Her recovery is excellent, based on normal human physiology, classified as superior, possessing initial mobility without threat…”
Eve continues her detailed report, word by word, causing the woman’s face, pale from injury, to grow increasingly grim — even reaching a darker tone.
“Thank you, Eve.” Boss Luo turns off the stove, smiling: “Leave this to me, go upstairs and resume your work.”
“Alright.” Eve nods and turns away.
Truly obedient — the woman personally experiences the obedience of this maid named Eve, so the young man before her…
“I’ve made some soup.” Boss Luo brings a tray to the table, setting the cutlery skillfully, “I’ve been eating alone these days, so I made it relatively simple. But your injury isn’t completely healed; your diet shouldn’t be too greasy… eat while it’s hot.”
Don’t eat strangers’ food… anyone with slight training follows this rule, particularly within mystic organizations like the Black Religious Congregation.
“Are you a magician?” The woman suddenly asks.
Boss Luo blinks, as if curious why she asks.
The woman frowns, “Walking along, there are many magical items here; I also smell several special herbs — only used by Secret Medicine Practitioners… and the stove you cook with.”
She continues, pointing to the crystal lamp on the kitchen ceiling, “This lamp too.”
“Ms. Lamias, right?” Boss Luo smiles, “Your observation is sharp, your senses keen… well, consider me a magician.”
Since being regarded as a magician isn’t new, Boss Luo plans no further explanation… magic, to use or not, remains simple.
“You know me?” The woman… Lamias suddenly became alert.
Boss Luo casually said, “When you were unconscious, some identification fell from your body… a teacher’s certificate with your name on it.”
Lamias suddenly said, “I’m afraid I lost more than just a certificate, didn’t I?”
“And a necklace.” Boss Luo knew what she was talking about… The necklace on Lamias was removed when Eve operated, and indeed it was now in his hand.
“Please take a seat.” Boss Luo gestured to the chair next to Lamias, and it automatically slid open.
Without a word, Lamias slowly sat down, feeling as if she were sitting on pins and needles… She increasingly sensed the eeriness of this mansion.
Afterward, Boss Luo walked over to the cupboard, seemingly taking something out… Lamias’ gaze twitched involuntarily; she distinctly saw her own necklace… the pendant!
The item was casually placed beside the stove—she hadn’t noticed!
No, no one would casually leave something so important as if it were a trinket—to do so is a blind spot in one’s perception!
“I found it interesting and did a little research.” Boss Luo placed the pendant in front of Lamias, calmly saying, “Don’t worry, it belongs to you, and I’ll naturally return it.”
Once she had the pendant back in her hand and confirmed it hadn’t been swapped and was indeed genuine, Lamias felt an even stronger sense of unreality—hadn’t this person noticed what this pendant was?
“Do you… know what this is?”
“A holy relic.” Boss Luo sat down, first taking a sip of water, then slowly drinking some broth, “A polluted holy relic… Hmm, if I’m not mistaken, it was probably tainted with the blood of the Impaling Duke.”
It was no longer just sitting on pins and needles; a chill ran straight up her spine—if she were not a key figure within the cultivation, if she didn’t know every high-ranking member within cultivation, she might suspect that this person was a member of the cultivation, otherwise, how would he know about the Reversed Holy Relic?!
“Of course, just the blood of the Impaling Duke alone wouldn’t suffice.” Boss Luo then added, “It also needs to be soaked over a period in the blood shed by a devout person during oscillation in faith and despair… there are quite a few steps involved.”
“Who exactly are you?” Lamias took a deep breath; even when facing Father Strala, she hadn’t felt such a heavy pressure, almost suffocating her now.
Clearly just sitting there at the dining table, the environment seemed like casual chit-chat… yet they were discussing such dangerous topics.
“That’s not important.” Boss Luo said casually, “At least for now it doesn’t seem to be… Ms. Lamias, I bear you no malice, nor do I intend to gain anything from saving you presently, as for the future… who can say?”
“But you chose to save me, didn’t you?”
There’s no such thing as a free lunch.
“Think of it as…” Boss Luo smiled softly, “Settling the fate we’ve shared before.”
At that time, Boss Luo had only recently taken up his position and was still in a daze about everything, on a journey in Romania guided by the maids. At that time, he encountered this nun out of curiosity and took her weapon from her.
Now having Eve perform surgery through normal methods to save Lamias’ life, it was considered ending the past connection—only Lamias seemed unaware of this.
The boss had no intention of explaining.
“Fate?” Lamias suddenly didn’t know whether to be angry, amused, or pity, “What a twisted fate it must be, me unknowingly coming to this place.”
Having escaped from Father Strala’s church, she hadn’t thought much about her path; the town wasn’t an option, only heading toward the outskirts—ending up here, not so much in haste but rather unintentionally.
“I see you should be able to move now.” Suddenly, Boss Luo said, “After dinner, you can choose to stay and rest for the night, or perhaps leave in the middle of the night.”
“You’re letting me go?” Lamias looked at him incredulously.
Boss Luo said, “Shouldn’t I let you go, Ms. Lamias?”
Lamias opened her mouth.
The young master of this mansion probably knew where she came from, and he knew about the Reversed Holy Relic, yet he returned such an important Reversed Holy Relic to her so casually, and allowed her to leave whenever she wished.
Something’s not right… something’s definitely not right—could this guy still be considered a good person?
Lamias’ thoughts spun rapidly, yet she had no way of guessing the motive behind his actions—or perhaps, allowing her to leave was part of some ulterior motive, like setting a long trap to catch a big fish?
Maybe when she left the mansion now, upon stepping out the door, she’d be ambushed by the maid—such incidences were countless through history.
“I’ll stay for one night.” Lamias scrutinized his expression closely, “I’ll leave first thing in the morning.”
“Indeed.” Boss Luo nodded, “Resting one more night will help you recover better physically… So, Ms. Lamias, your area of activity includes your room, the first floor of the mansion, and the courtyard outside. I hope you adhere to these limits.”
“The area above the second floor isn’t open to me?” Lamias nodded, “Okay.”
“Then, feel free, Ms. Lamias.” Boss Luo stood up; unbeknownst to her, he had already finished his meal, “Just leave the cutlery here; Eve will clean it. If you need anything else, you can ask Eve, it’ll arrange it for you.”
And just like that, he left.
After Boss Luo left, the entire kitchen fell into a profound silence… Lamias’ body remained slightly stiff, this silence felt even somewhat eerie.
As she walked through, besides Eve, she only saw this young master of the mansion—could it really be just them living in this massive estate?
Having eaten simply, Lamias walked alone slowly through the hall on the first floor.
There was no obstruction on the stairs leading upwards… she didn’t feel any watchful eyes around her, neither did she see any surveillance equipment.
Lamias paused, wondering if that guy just believed she would stick to their agreement?
Shaking her head, Lamias pondered for a moment and eventually chose not to go up the stairs—instead, she found something else that was relatively more important to her just now.
An antique phone.
“Wait… did I leave with my teacher’s certificate?”
Just as she reached for the antique phone, Lamias suddenly recalled something—she was going to attack Father Strala, how could she have something that would expose her identity on her?
Was this a joke?
