Chapter 1593: Chapter 320: Hold It In—Don't Get Angry, Don't Be Afraid
“You’d better not play any tricks!” The woman’s voice was low as she continued to press onward against Luo Qiu, “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you, I’m just resting at your estate for a while!”
It’s probably not usual for someone to be so forcefully demanding a rest.
“Are you injured?” Boss Luo asked calmly, as if confirming what he already knew.
“I told you, you’d better not play any tricks… take out your phone!” The woman pressed the muzzle of her silver handgun against Luo Qiu’s back once more, “Now!”
“Here.” Boss Luo naturally took out his phone.
The woman snatched the phone without a word and tucked it into her waistband.
As they reached the door, when Boss Luo reached into his pocket, she swiftly grabbed Luo Qiu’s wrist, coldly asking, “What are you trying to do?”
“Unlock the door, need a key.”
Luo Qiu spread his palm, and sure enough, what he took out from his pocket was a key… the woman pondered silently, still remaining vigilant.
But even with just this movement, it triggered her inner injuries, a metallic taste rushed to her throat. She couldn’t stop or cover it, and blood freely flowed from her lips, seeping through her fingers.
Her vision became incredibly blurry at that moment, and she collapsed towards the young man with black hair, weakly muttering as she fell, “Don’t… call a doctor…”
So Boss Luo took a step back, and the woman didn’t manage to fall on him… she merely landed on the ground gently, as if something had held and then softly laid her down.
“Master, you’re back.”
In the next moment after the woman collapsed on the floor by the door, the door opened, and Eve, temporarily working as a maid, appeared in front of Boss Luo.
Eve glanced at the bleeding woman on the ground and said expressionlessly, “Intruder?”
Boss Luo did not answer directly but suddenly asked, “Eve, can you perform emergency aid, the normal kind?”
Eve nodded directly, “I can perform simple surgeries. If that’s not enough, I can learn immediately. Is there a need, Master?”
“Do as you see fit,” Boss Luo smiled slightly, then walked around the woman and entered the house, “I’ll cook for myself tonight.”
Eve watched Boss Luo leave, then looked down at the woman on the ground.
Eve’s face remained expressionless, but she muttered to herself, “Master You Ye said to document any woman entering the estate… scanning, scanning successful. Executing priority directive, begin aid…”
So.
It bent down, then picked her up…
…
…
Vasco said that the few Holy Knight Reservists coming to clean up quickly arrived at the church where Father Strala was located.
The Holy Church has always been on the Oth Continent, confronting dark creatures that mingle within human society… this has lasted for thousands of years, so the Holy Church even has a complete and mature method to handle special events.
The police came later, discovered the church was damaged, attributing it to a boiler explosion inside the church… as for the followers’ unconsciousness, it was due to a large amount of exhaust gas produced by the boiler explosion.
Oh, heavens, how could such a reason be so easily brushed off?
Heaven knows why… the police seemed bewitched, easily believing this explanation—a female Reservist of the Holy Knights directly got into a police car and went to the station to give a statement.
As for when a female apprentice appeared in the church—who knows?
Speaking of which, even if it’s just an apprentice, it could be female, right? Aren’t priests supposed to be male? If female, shouldn’t it be a nun?
Who knows… the police left just shortly after arriving.
The remaining three Holy Knight Reservists started handling the gradually awakening followers—compared to police inquiries, dealing with the followers was a massive task.
“Isn’t this breaking the ninth commandment?” A Holy Knight Reservist suddenly asked.
“We’re protecting the followers, doing good deeds,” another devoted Holy Knight Reservist promptly responded.
“Exactly, you’re indeed lying, being dishonest, Heaven’s gate won’t open for you.” Father Strala suddenly said, simultaneously biting off the cap of a bottle of Happy Water and gulping it down.
What a peculiar priest… thought the Holy Knight Reservists.
If not for Lord Vasco’s instructions to avoid conflict… this guy, was he really the former Warden of Shenwei Prison, the man known for decades as the ‘Bright Iron Fist’ who carried out imprisonment and punishment duties?
“It’s Iron Fist Invincible!” said the Priest disdainfully after finishing a bottle of Happy Water, “Adding the word ‘bright’ is too low-level!”
Hold back, don’t get angry, hold back—the Holy Knight Reservists began silently reciting the self-discipline and virtues of a Paladin.
Ignoring this Priest who had moved in a lounge chair in the yard to supervise, the three Holy Knight Reservists silently continued dealing with the remaining matters.
Not long after, Vasco returned from outside, seemingly to no avail.
Vasco walked straight to Father Strala, sat directly on the ground—next to the lounge chair, and grabbed the corn chips from Father Strala’s hand, chewing them, “The Black Religious Congregation won’t attack you without reason.”
“How do you know they came to attack me?” Father Strala glared, snatching back the corn chips.
“Then why wouldn’t they attack the Holy Church? Instead, they chose this time to come after you?” Vasco said irritably.
The Priest replied matter-of-factly, “Of course, it’s because they can’t handle the Holy Church, so they bully an old weakling like me? Don’t be fooled by my current state, I’m actually heavily injured inside; I can’t do heavy work for a while. The kids you brought seem diligent, can I borrow them for a few days?”
“These are students from the Holy Knight Reserve Camp, they don’t answer to me. If you have the capability, go ask the Camp Leader for people directly,” Vasco snorted coldly, “or else you can go back to Shenwei Prison and call for people; anyways, the enforcers inside only listen to your orders. Over the years, regardless of how many Wardens have changed, they’ve always been outwardly compliant but inwardly defiant, and the Pope tried several times to dissolve them out of anger!”
“Wow, that old fellow hasn’t died from anger yet, it’s a miracle!” Father Strala propped himself up, feigning amazement.
Vasco resisted the urge to pummel him on the spot and suddenly sighed, “It’s almost time.”
Father Strala opened his mouth, but remained silent, eventually sighing, “If the Pope really wants to dissolve the Enforcement Team, remind him to provide severance pay.”
Vasco, expecting some comforting words from Father Strala, realized he’d underestimated his adversarial nature, and helplessly said, “Now it’s confirmed that the holy relics taken from the monastery are reversed by the Black Religious Congregation, and with their New Armor. We don’t know how many dangerous individuals the congregation still has hidden in this small town, I’ve already requested support from the Holy Church. Someone will arrive in the next couple of days.”
“Then?” Father Strala blinked.
Vasco replied calmly, “Their target is clearly you, we cannot let anything happen to you, so for the next few days I and those Reservist students will stay here.”
“Pay up!” Father Strala said importunately, staring at Vasco with no room for negotiation: “And food expenses!”
“You are certainly the biggest heresy in the world!!”
Father Stretta couldn’t help but sigh, and said faintly, “You don’t know how expensive cat food is… Atang is following me and is about to be underfed. Look, in these past few months, Atang has lost almost two pounds.”
Suddenly, Vasco stood up abruptly, veins bulging on his forehead.
The three Holy Knight Reservists felt their hearts tighten, concentrating their spirits and not daring to make a sound—yet they were all thinking the same thing: Beat him! Lord Vasco! Beat this shameless old fat man to death!
“You guys come here! Pay up!” To everyone’s surprise, Vasco said angrily and then stormed inside.
The three Holy Knight Reservists were briefly stunned, then incredulously mouthed—Wow! Heartless!
…
…
At this moment, Marvin and Wickdor were both wondering about one thing… Whether there was really an enemy tracking them—even though Lord Dagonet, one of the Twelve Knights, had such an assured expression.
But can’t you resist the urge to flirt with every female student the moment you enter a restaurant?
Dagonet, without his clown makeup, was a handsome man—by the end of the morning, he successfully exchanged numbers with this female student.
Marvin and Wickdor definitely weren’t envious, they absolutely weren’t envious, they were knights of virtue and truly weren’t envious.
Seeing Dagonet return with a smile, Marvin and Wickdor couldn’t sit still any longer and hurriedly came forward to ask, “Lord Dagonet, are we going to…”
They saw Dagonet sit down casually and take out his phone, “Let’s watch something first.”
The two exchanged a puzzled glance, then looked at the phone Dagonet opened—the phone began playing a video.
A trace of perplexity flashed in Marvin’s eyes, then he said, “This looks like our local church? I remember the priest inside seems to be called Stretta? Lord Dagonet, what is this all about?”
“Unmanned planes,” Mr. Clown said lazily with a smile, “It’s already 9102, who wouldn’t use high-tech to gather some intelligence?”
The budget allocated by the Knight Agency isn’t that high though…
“Shh, something’s happening!” Wickdor’s expression suddenly tightened, “Someone is attacking the church… Who is this? We must go over there immediately! There are Non-Humans wreaking havoc!”
But Mr. Clown pressed them down, “We don’t need to go.”
“Why?” they asked in unison.
Mr. Clown shrugged, squinting his eyes with a smile, “Because this happened two hours ago… The attack started when we began eating breakfast.”
“Lord Dagonet, how can this be?” The two were immediately shocked.
Mr. Clown was playing with the poker cards on the table and said, “Why not… At least now we know who they are, right?”
At this time, when the phone fast-forwarded to the moment the dark curtain induced by the Field of Corruption was broken, the images of Father Stretta, the mysterious woman, and Vasco appeared clearly on the screen.
“Then what do we…”
“Is there a program tonight?” Dagonet asked with a smile, “I love business trips that are reimbursed.”
If it weren’t for that fleeting trace of intimidating cold light in Dagonet’s eyes, they might have truly believed it.
“I’ll go make arrangements.” Marvin suddenly stood up, “Wickdor, you stay here with Lord Dagonet.”
With that said, Marvin put on a trench coat, kept his head down, and hurriedly left the restaurant… Dagonet didn’t pay attention, just retrieved his phone and once again started playing the content above.
“There’s another one…” At the moment the dark curtain was broken, Dagonet suddenly whispered to himself: “This is interesting.”
…
…
The woman suddenly opened her eyes.
She found herself lying on a very comfortable big bed… She sat up, but a sharp pain almost made her twitch—requiring great willpower to hold back from crying out in pain.
At this time, her upper body was already wrapped in bandages… Lifting the quilt to have a look—only her upper body was bandaged.
It seemed that she had undergone surgery… She could feel it; while her internal organs were still in pain, they appeared to have been treated.
The woman was shocked for a moment but found her clothes weren’t missing, just neatly placed on the bedside cabinet.
On the clothes, even her silver pistol was placed… The woman couldn’t help but frown.
Just then, the door to the room slowly opened, and the woman, without saying a word, endured the pain, uncovered the quilt, held it against herself with one hand, grabbed the nearby pistol with the other, and crouched half-kneeling on the floor, aiming the barrel at the doorway.
In walked a beautiful woman in a maid outfit, with a serene countenance… even an expressionless gaze—Eve.
Quite a perfect woman—even though she found herself in such a strange and eerie environment, she had to admit this fact.
“Please don’t get out of bed; your current condition isn’t suitable for intense activity,” Eve said expressionlessly.
“I told you, don’t get me a doctor.” The woman frowned, “How long was I unconscious?”
“Four hours and thirty-nine minutes have passed since you were unconscious,” Eve directly replied, “Furthermore, I was the one who treated you, not a doctor.”
“You?” The woman slightly opened her mouth, what kind of joke is this?
Never mind that this mansion doesn’t look anything like a hospital, the maid in front of her actually managed to perform surgery in just over four hours?
The condition of her injury was… ruptured internal organs!
Gritting her teeth, the woman instinctively reached for her neck—she found that an equally important object was missing, “Where’s my necklace?”
“I didn’t see any necklace on you.” Eve shook her head.
The woman let out a sneer, and a hint of cold light flashed in her eyes, then she fired the pistol in one motion—the room echoed with an abrupt sound.
BANG—!!
What happened left her pupils contracting!
The bullet had already been fired, but in the next instant, it was caught between the maid’s fingers… The woman could clearly see the bullet between Eve’s fingers!
Heavens knows how this maid managed to catch a bullet with her fingers… This is not an ordinary bullet!
