Chapter 1394: Chapter 1394: Caspian Parker’s Strange Behavior
Aurelia Shaw realized Mason Nightshade was getting more and more clingy.
After she went inside, Mason didn’t leave right away.
He leaned against the car door, lit a cigarette and smoked, watching the lights come on upstairs, a slender shadow pacing back and forth, and then some place in his heart just filled up.
The Major General’s lips curved with a satisfied smile, his gaze locked on that graceful silhouette, unable to look away.
His woman was really beautiful.
Even her shadow was this beautiful.
...
Caspian Parker wasn’t home.
The next morning, when Aurelia woke up and went downstairs, she finally saw Caspian.
Caspian looked at her, and his expression suddenly grew serious. He walked over in a few strides, stopped in front of her, and pulled her into his arms.
He was holding her very tightly.
Aurelia froze.
Her brother loved her, but he had never clung to her like this.
They hadn’t seen each other for a few months; it shouldn’t have made him miss her this much, right?
Aurelia had told Caspian she’d come back to Country Z for filming. Caspian had never doubted it; he always believed her without question.
"Bro, what’s wrong?" Aurelia asked, confused. Her intuition told her his reaction had to do with why he’d called her home.
"Nothing, let’s eat first." Caspian let go of her, but his face was still pale.
Aurelia frowned, certain that something must have happened.
But since Caspian didn’t say anything, she didn’t keep pressing.
She scooped up some soup and took a sip, then asked casually, "Bro, you said you called me back because there was something. Did something happen?"
Caspian’s expression shifted slightly, but it was quickly smoothed over. "Nothing much. I just missed you."
Just that? Aurelia frowned.
She felt Caspian was hiding something from her.
But if he didn’t want to talk, forcing him wouldn’t get her anywhere.
Aurelia temporarily pushed her doubts down.
"Aurelia, from now on just live at home, don’t go anywhere. If the filming location is far, I’ll send someone to pick you up and drop you off. We have a full-time driver here, I don’t need him. And I’ll be coming home every night from now on." Caspian said.
Aurelia grew even more puzzled, her brows knitting tightly together.
She parted her lips to speak, then pressed them together again, hesitating.
Caspian looked like a refined gentleman, very warm and easy to get along with, but in reality he was very set in his ways, and liked to keep things to himself.
Her brother definitely had something on his mind.
But even when she asked like this, he still wouldn’t say.
What could it be? Aurelia was sure it definitely had something to do with her, otherwise Caspian wouldn’t have been so anxious to call her back.
That night, Mason video-called her.
"I want to come find you," Mason said. "I miss you. I want to see you."
"Don’t make trouble. Be good," Aurelia coaxed him like he was a child, and the thought made her chuckle.
In front of her, the Major General actually acted like a kid.
Looking at her bright, stunning smile, Mason’s heart thumped wildly, his gaze scorching and deep, as if he were really seeing her in front of him.
The hard-won time they had together had all been ruined by Caspian.
"What did he want you for?" His bad mood bled into his tone.
"Bro didn’t say, just said he missed me. But... I feel like something’s going on with him," Aurelia said, then let out a long sigh and smiled a little. "Hopefully I’m just overthinking it."
"What’s that little head of yours thinking about now?" Sometimes Mason wanted to crack it open and take a look.
"Not telling you." Aurelia played coy.
"Say it!"
Aurelia’s lips curled up. "You’re not even officially anything to me. Why should I tell you?"
She covered her mouth and yawned. "I’m sleepy. I’m not talking to you anymore."
"Don’t you dare..."
Then the Major General watched the screen go dark, his heart a jumble of feelings.
His wife, whom he’d just gotten his hands on for a few days, hadn’t even warmed up yet, hadn’t even had time to dote on properly, and she’d already been snatched away.
