Chapter 1382: Chapter 1382: Heartache

Mason Nightshade’s mind suddenly swelled! He took a few deep breaths to calm his emotions and then strode over.

"I found a lot of canned food here, let’s have some to fill our stomachs first."

Aurelia Shaw took it.

Mason originally thought she would dislike these things. Back at the Nightshade Family, he had always pampered Aurelia, giving her the best food and clothing. Although he never saw her being picky, canned food is quite different from gourmet delicacies.

No matter by Caspian Parker’s side or by Alaric Wood’s side, he believed they would not let her suffer.

Yet, unexpectedly, Aurelia ate the canned food as if it were nothing, without the slightest disdain.

When she’s unhappy, she tends to frown, only slightly in front of others so no one would notice.

Mason carefully focused on her face for a while but saw no crease on her brow, indicating that she truly didn’t mind eating canned food.

Instead of relieving Mason, this result made him feel even more guilty.

His girl, he never let her suffer before. Despite all that time passing, past events are still affecting his girl.

It’s like a knife stabbing Mason’s heart, every movement brings excruciating pain.

Aurelia finished eating, placed the empty can aside, and stared at Mason’s feet for a while, her delicate brow furrowed. The ground was full of sewage and mud, and the military boots on his feet were soaked beyond recognition. It’s not hard to imagine what the feet inside would be like.

"Sit down." Aurelia suddenly stood up.

Mason was stunned.

Aurelia patted the table, then said, "Sit up here."

Mason looked down at his shoes and understood what she wanted to do, "I’m fine."

Aurelia’s brow furrowed tightly, "Mason Nightshade! Fine, if you don’t come up, I’ll go down..."

Mason couldn’t stand her calling him by his full name, especially in a strict and commanding tone. If it were anyone else, he’d beat them half to death, but his own woman is different.

Feeling slightly agitated, seeing her about to come down, he quickly pressed her shoulder, untied his shoelaces, deftly removed his shoes, and sat on the table.

Aurelia rolled up his pant legs, took off his socks, the wide and distinct soles soaked white, her hands held them, palms icy cold.

Mason furrowed his thick brows, grabbed her small hand to pry it away, "This is common for me, traversing mountains and rivers, often lurking in deep mountains for a month or two, there’ve been worse situations than this, it’s nothing to me."

Seeing he wanted to wear socks, Aurelia snatched them, "We can’t go anywhere for now anyway, let your feet air out for a while, this isn’t the harsh environment of deep mountains, I won’t strip you of that privilege."

Mason smiled helplessly.

He wished to spend more time with her if not for the injuries she had and the ticking bomb she seemed to carry at any moment.

"When I came here, I calculated that the mountain isn’t large. If something happened, Grayson Quinn would search the entire mountain for us, he’ll soon find the secret passage. You should sleep for a while, even if we don’t find a way out, they’ll find us." It’s only a matter of time.

Mason didn’t say the latter half.

Time was what he was most impatient for.

Her wounds couldn’t wait.

Aurelia fell asleep quickly. During the days she was kidnapped, she didn’t dare truly sleep. At Alaric Wood’s place, she was not accustomed to the bed, slept uncomfortably, but now enveloped in Mason’s refreshing scent, it didn’t take long for drowsiness to overwhelm her.

Turns out, it wasn’t the bed that was hypnotizing; it was his scent.
