Chapter 1381: Chapter 1381: Brother Rat’s Fight for Survival

Aurelia Shaw didn’t want Mason Nightshade to worry about her anymore, but Mason wasn’t so easy to fool; whatever she said, he’d believe.

He’d seen the same thing on Ian Wang.

It was a micro bomb.

It was small in size but had tremendous power, enough to kill three people.

Ian Wang actually installed such a thing on his woman!

A cold glint flashed in Mason’s eyes, "There are people in the military who specialize in dismantling bombs. Once we get out, I’ll have them dismantle it."

It didn’t surprise Aurelia that she didn’t manage to hide it from Mason.

He’d seen more bombs than she had meals; it wasn’t surprising he could recognize them.

She thought that if she could conceal it, she’d find a way to dismantle the bomb herself later. Carrying a bomb on her, even though the remote was destroyed, what if it exploded?

If she couldn’t hide it, she didn’t plan to keep lying.

Clinging to Mason’s back, Aurelia felt a wave of tenderness, her arms subconsciously tightened around him, and she buried her head into his back.

Once they got out, they couldn’t be so carefree and together anymore. He had his mission, his duty, his faith that would not allow him to be with her. Only now could they be this quietly together.

Mason stopped after walking for a while, calculating in his mind that they had been walking for three or four hours in this tunnel that was larger than he had anticipated.

Uncertain of when they might exit, Mason planned to conserve energy.

He set Aurelia down, took off his military coat, and placed it on the only chair, then lifted Aurelia to place her on it.

The ground was muddy; he didn’t want her to step on it.

"I’ll go see if there’s anything to eat nearby. Wait here for me to come back. If there’s any threat, or if there are rats, call out to me loudly. I won’t go far and can hear you, alright?" Mason instructed, even though he knew she could take care of herself, his heart was still filled with concern.

Hearing the word ’rats,’ Aurelia frowned.

She disliked rats. During her time in the rehabilitation center, she had seen too many rats and had even grown somewhat accustomed to them.

Mason let out a low chuckle, gently smoothing the frown on her brow with his fingers, a gentle smile on his lips, "Don’t worry, I just said it as a possibility. No one has lived here for a long time, and it’s in the mountains, where rats prefer to live. But they have nothing to eat; even if there were, they’d be long dead.

I’m just nearby, call me if you’re scared."

Aurelia moved her lips, eventually swallowing the words "I’m not afraid" down her throat and nodded once.

After Mason left, Aurelia curled up in the chair, clutching the sleeves of his coat tightly around her waist, bringing the sleeves to her nose to sniff.

It had the unique scent of Mason.

She hadn’t smelled it in a long time.

Surveillance could ease the longing in her eyes, but it couldn’t be touched.

Suddenly, a thought popped into Aurelia’s mind: It would be nice if they could never get out.

Mason found some canned food in a dilapidated room; the date on it was from a long time ago, but canned goods don’t really expire.

Finding the canned food, Mason eagerly returned, worried something might happen to the girl.

Plus, he cherished this fleeting time they had together as only the two of them.

When Mason returned, he saw Aurelia quietly curled up in the chair, her petite frame appearing even more fragile in the shadow, her pointed chin resting on her knees, and her small hands clinging tightly to the sleeves of his coat, holding them close to her nose, lost in thought.
