Chapter 1327: Dragged In
Chapter 1327: Chapter 1327: Dragged In
But why is my heart being shaken again? Why suddenly break off the engagement, why look at me with those eyes.
Junia Simpson closed her eyes.
If he hates me, so be it. It’s better this way, letting him understand my feelings for him, rather than secretly pining for him without his knowledge.
At least my feelings have a conclusion now.
Lennox Quinn was suddenly stunned; he never expected Junia Simpson to suddenly kiss him. His brain, adept at scheming, couldn’t fathom this unfolding situation.
Junia Simpson’s lips were trembling, her eyelashes fluttering lightly. She cautiously glanced at Lennox Quinn, saw his stunned expression, eyes wide in astonishment, and felt a stab of pain in her heart. She pursed her lips tightly.
"I’m sorry..."
She couldn’t stay any longer.
He must find it disgusting, right? Always considered her a sister, yet she had these feelings for him.
Junia Simpson scorned herself in her heart, unable to stay another moment, and fled.
Lennox Quinn came to his senses, reached out to grab her hand, but his fingers passed over her wrist, missing it.
Junia Simpson almost fled in a panic.
Upstairs, Mason Nightshade’s bedroom.
The room was unlit, and Mason Nightshade sat in the darkness, his silhouette unusually desolate and lonely, one large hand covering his face, brow furrowed tightly.
His headache felt like it was about to explode.
He picked up the bottle of medicine on the table and took a painkiller, but the headache didn’t subside at all.
Mason Nightshade looked at the court summons in his hand, chuckled, and tore it up, tossing it into the trash bin.
Lennox Quinn was right; tearing it up changes nothing, but at least it keeps him from feeling irritated.
Before dawn, Mason Nightshade went out.
He arrived at the prison.
The guards trembled with trepidation as they received Mason Nightshade, thinking: What kind of days are these?
The esteemed figures of the Capital City are flocking to this small prison, as if reaching the pinnacle of the jail’s history.
Soon after, the guard returned, trembling again. "Master Nightshade."
"Speak." Mason Nightshade was concise, and anyone could see he was in a bad mood.
The guard swallowed, "Miss Shaw said she won’t see you."
Mason Nightshade’s brow furrowed, "Since when do you need a prisoner’s consent for interrogation?"
The guard shivered, quickly returning to Aurelia Shaw’s cell.
He exaggerated Mason Nightshade’s words while retelling them.
Aurelia Shaw chuckled lightly, "Don’t you have coercive measures for dealing with prisoners? Anyway, I won’t see him, so use them if you must."
The guard’s hand hovered over the electric baton.
Vespera Bennett instantly stood up, her eyes filled with lethal intent.
The others responded in kind, all standing up.
"What’s going on? Planning a revolt?" The guard pointed the baton threateningly.
Aurelia Shaw glanced at Vespera Bennett and the others, her eyebrows furrowing.
Her relationship with Vespera Bennett wasn’t close enough to warrant such defense; has Vespera been overly concerned these days?
She even tricked her once.
Could it be that Vespera Bennett has a masochistic tendency, where getting tricked makes her want to defend others more?
"If you’re going to use the baton, just do it; if not, stop disturbing my sleep."
Aurelia Shaw covered her head with the blanket. The guard’s temper flared, forgetting the formidable presence waiting outside, and used the baton.
"Aurelia Shaw!"
Vespera Bennett jumped off the bed but was restrained.
The guard glared warningly at Vespera Bennett, "Don’t cause trouble here; you’ve behaved well over the years and have a chance for a reduced sentence. Think it over."
Vespera Bennett pressed her lips tightly.
The guard dragged the person away.
Mason Nightshade waited, surprised to see Aurelia Shaw was dragged in.
Seeing Aurelia Shaw’s head drooping weakly, a stormy killing intent and chill swirled in Mason Nightshade’s eyes as he glared at the guard.
