Chapter 1296: Chapter 1296: It Has Nothing to Do With Her
Aurelia Shaw lowered her eyes to look at the paper in her hands, her gaze deepening once more.
On it was a question: There are three people, a mother and her two daughters. The mother died, and the two sisters attended the funeral. At the funeral, the younger sister met a very handsome man and fell in love with him at first sight. After returning home, she killed her sister. Why?
Aurelia Shaw looked at the question without speaking.
Henry Fletcher focused his gaze on Aurelia Shaw, observing every subtle change in her facial expression.
Just then, rapid footsteps sounded outside the door, followed by the door being kicked open, and Mason Nightshade stood outside exuding hostility.
His sharp gaze first swept over Henry Fletcher, then turned to Aurelia Shaw beside him. He strode over, pulled Aurelia behind him, shielding her, his eyes narrowing as his gaze deepened, looking at Henry Fletcher with a mocking smile, "If there’s anything concerning me, I’ll handle it. When did Lieutenant Colonel Fletcher’s reach extend this far, reaching me here?!"
It was sarcasm mixed with questioning.
Mason Nightshade’s character was this way; if he wanted to target you, you would unmistakably feel his hostility, fierce and cold enough to be unbearable.
"Mason Nightshade, don’t tell me you can’t see there’s something wrong with her." Henry Fletcher, still wearing an expressionless deadpan face, turned his icy gaze toward Aurelia Shaw, chilling to the bone.
Aurelia Shaw found it puzzling, wondering what grievance Henry Fletcher had with her. Why in both past lives and this one was he targeting her?
"If there’s a problem, I’ll take responsibility." Mason Nightshade’s tone was indisputable, pulling Aurelia Shaw out towards the door, "You wait in the car first. Grayson Quinn is in the car; it’s safe, rest assured."
Mason Nightshade returned.
Henry Fletcher sat heavily in the chair, watching Mason Nightshade enter, raising a fist and punching Mason Nightshade’s face, grabbing his collar and pressing him against the wall, eyes filled with angry red veins, "It’s her, isn’t it? You’ve known all along, haven’t you?"
Mason Nightshade looked at Henry Fletcher with a faint gaze.
Henry Fletcher coldly drew a smile, then laughed maniacally, "Mason Nightshade, how did I never realize you would betray your brothers for a woman like this!"
"That matter has nothing to do with her!" Mason Nightshade said in a deep voice, his gaze as dark as ink.
"But it does with her father!" Henry Fletcher’s forehead veins bulged, his eyes red, lips trembling as they curled into a cold mocking arc, "Besides, can you say with absolute certainty that it has nothing to do with her? Can you swear on the lives of the nineteen deceased brothers that it has nothing to do with her by even a fraction?"
Waves surged in Mason Nightshade’s deep eyes, veins standing out on his hands and neck, fingers tightly clenched into fists, trembling slightly from force, his thin, tight lips repeating the words: "It has nothing to do with her."
"Ha...haha..." Henry Fletcher seemed to have heard the biggest joke, "Listen to your words, it’s really something the deceased nineteen brothers should hear, really something Adem Nightshade should listen to, the kind of words uttered by the brother he saved at the cost of his life, all to protect the daughter of his enemy.
If it weren’t for her back then..."
Henry Fletcher didn’t finish his sentence before a heavy punch landed on his face. He staggered back, his lower back hitting the desk, emitting a harsh "squeak—" sound.
Henry Fletcher looked at Mason Nightshade in disbelief, a cold arc emerging, "You had better keep her in your sights at all times. I won’t let her go. Nineteen lives, even if she doesn’t pay the price, she won’t have a good life in this lifetime."
