Chapter 159: Chapter 159 Birds of a feather!

Pureblood light was devastating.

It was the kind of power that any creature, regardless of how strong they were, would do anything possible to avoid. Unfortunately for the demons, there was nowhere to run.

The light tore through their bodies. It burned through their skin, their armor, and their dark energy as shrill screams erupted from them. Their inhuman cries echoed across the battlefield, sending chills through anyone unfortunate enough to be watching.

The five Arch demons were struggling against it. Even their powerful demonic bodies couldn’t completely withstand the light. The entire battlefield had become a scorched wasteland.

That gave Lysander the opening he needed.

He broke through the circle of scorched ground created by Noah’s brutal magic, his black wings spreading behind him as he moved directly toward Asmodeous. The Arch demon was still gasping. He barely had time to raise his head.

A powerful burst of dark energy slammed directly into his chest.

BOOM!

The impact sent him crashing into the ground. The earth shattered beneath him. Asmodeous continued falling. The ground opened beneath his body, creating a massive gaping hole as his body was driven deeper and deeper into the earth.

Lysander followed. His eyes burned with rage.

"I’m a young demon, isn’t that what you said?" His voice echoed through the battlefield. "Still a baby compared to an older demon like you."

He raised his hand. A powerful burst of black tendrils exploded from his palm. They slammed directly into Asmodeous’s chest again.

BOOM!

The Arch demon was driven even deeper. The earth cracked around him.

Lysander didn’t stop. He struck again. And again. And again. Every attack sent Asmodeous farther into the ground.

"You said I was weak." Another strike.

"You said I didn’t understand the powers of Hell." Another.

"You said I didn’t deserve to be your prince."

Lysander’s rage intensified.

"So where is all that strength now?"

Another brutal blast slammed into Asmodeous. The ground continued collapsing beneath them.

Lysander wasn’t fighting anymore. He was unleashing everything he had been holding inside. His father had sent these demons after Noah. He had sent them to kill his mate. And Lysander was going to make them regret ever coming here.

Above the battlefield, Noah looked down at the other four Arch demons. The creatures surrounding them were still moving, but the Pureblood light had weakened many of them.

Noah’s expression changed. A strange grin slowly appeared on his face. He was about to unleash something. Something he wasn’t completely sure he could control.

He didn’t know exactly what would happen. But he was going to try.

"Enough of your antics." His voice carried across the battlefield. "I’m ending all of you this moment."

The last surge of power that had erupted from his body had changed the entire battlefield. Pure light surrounded him. It trapped the dark energy around him and even reached Damon and Desdemona.

Both of them stared at Noah. For the first time, genuine fear was written across their faces. They weren’t pretending anymore. They had seen enough.

Irene watched the light illuminating Noah’s eyes. Her heart tightened. She knew something was coming.

The Pureblood wasn’t supposed to have awakened his deeper powers yet. That was what they had believed. That was why they had created their entire plan around him. That was why Damon had created the trap.

According to everything they knew, Purebloods had enormous difficulty controlling their powers because the force inside them wasn’t something that could simply be commanded like ordinary magic. And Noah was supposed to be even more difficult. The last Pureblood who had appeared decades ago had barely been able to control that power.

So how was Noah already reaching this depth? How was he able to combine that energy with another form of dark magic? And, most importantly, how was he able to use the Book of Shadows?

That should not have been possible. No Pureblood should have been able to wield such power.

Irene’s eyes narrowed. There was only one explanation she could think of.

Lamia.

He was a Phoenix witch. And Phoenix witches were notorious for possessing magic capable of creating nightmares for other supernatural races. With someone like Lamia beside Noah, perhaps this had become possible.

And there was another factor. The Prince of Hell. Lysander.

Noah had both a powerful Phoenix witch and the Prince of Hell standing beside him.

Her brother had been a complete fool. An absolute idiot.

She remembered exactly how all of this had begun.

FLASHBACK

It had been immediately after their trip to Atherion Supernatural School.

Damon had returned to the Imperial Palace. He had barely stepped inside when Irene stopped him. Her expression was furious.

"What’s that supposed to be?!"

Damon froze.

"How dare you embarrass me like that?" Her voice echoed through the palace. "And because of your stupidity, we’ve lost the most valuable weapon!"

She stepped closer. "The Heavenly Sword!"

Damon’s expression tightened.

Irene slammed her foot against the floor. The ground shattered beneath her.

"That sword could have been an advantage to us!" Her eyes began changing. Dark purple light filled them, mixed with a deeper shade of red. "I know a way for us to absorb its powers and use them for ourselves."

She pointed toward Damon. "But you had to be foolish!" Her voice rose. "Why, Damon Ashborn?! Why?!"

Two mages standing nearby stared in shock. They had never seen anyone speak to the Emperor this way. Especially not his own sister.

Damon glanced at them. "Not here, sister." He lowered his voice. "In front of them."

Irene ignored him. She was too furious. "Don’t make me even angrier, Damon."

Her fiancé stood nearby. The moment he saw her eyes, his body became rigid with terror.

Irene slowly turned her head toward him. "What’s the issue?" Her lips curled. "Scared, baby?" She stepped closer. "Don’t you like having a powerful wife?"

Her fiancé trembled.

"Or does that give you the creeps?"

He looked as though he might actually lose control of himself.

Irene sighed. She hated weak, whining men. Without blinking, she snapped her fingers. Purple flames engulfed him. The man’s scream filled the room.

The two mages stared in horror.

Damon didn’t say a word. He simply stood there and watched his sister lose herself to her rage.

"This is what you did to me, Damon!" Irene turned back toward him. "We needed that boy!" She pointed toward him. "We were supposed to have him." Her voice became crazed. "We were supposed to extract the essence from his body!"

She laughed bitterly. "I could have done something with that power. We could have gained even more strength."

She stepped closer. "Wasn’t that the plan?" "I stayed in the background while you handled everything."

Her eyes narrowed. "And what did you do?" She screamed. "You blew everything!"

Damon remained silent.

"Now the target is gone!" Irene’s breathing became heavier. "And he has powerful beings around him that we couldn’t even imagine."

She spread her hands. "So where are we supposed to start now?" Her eyes burned. "Answer me, you son of a pussy!"

She suddenly turned toward the two mages. "And you two!"

They immediately became defensive.

"I thought you were powerful." She laughed. "I really thought you were." Her expression became disgusted. "But it seems you’re nothing more than trophies to be paraded around."

Purple flames gathered in her palms. "I hate weak creatures." She smiled. "And you two disappointed me."

Hezznine tried to defend himself and his partner. He never got the chance.

A deadly wave of demonic energy slammed into his face. His head snapped backward. His eyes bulged as the energy tore through him. Then purple flames engulfed his body.

The other mage tried to move. Irene simply flipped her hand. A cage of dark magic formed around him. His body dissolved into a mass of flesh before hitting the floor.

Irene finally looked satisfied. Her rage had begun to settle.

She turned toward Damon. "We still have the Book of Shadows." Her smile returned. "And we still have the Alpha parents under our control."

She slowly twisted her fingers. "We can use them." She leaned closer. "We can target the Moonlight Alphas one by one."

Her eyes gleamed. "When his partners are gone, he’ll come here." She smiled. "He’ll beg for our help."

Damon finally looked toward her. "He’s still weak."

Irene nodded. "Exactly." She laughed. "He won’t be able to cause this much damage."

Her expression became possessive. "And then I can have him." She looked at Damon. "He’ll be ours."

Damon sighed. "I promise you that." He paused. "And I’m sorry about what happened at the school."

Irene stared at him.

"I know you were trying to create the impression that you were in charge." Her smile returned. "That can still be fixed."

She moved closer. "You don’t have to be scared."

Damon’s eyes narrowed.

"No one will know our plans." Irene’s voice became quieter. "Our secret will remain hidden forever."

She laughed softly. "They couldn’t discover how we eliminated those four useless heroes." Her eyes gleamed. "So why would they discover this?"

Damon smiled. "The world will be in our palms." "Our dominion will spread across the entire Quintorian Empire."

He paused. "And eventually, the world."

Irene’s smile widened. "I’ll consume the essence of the supernatural creatures." Her fingers twisted. "And you’ll eat their hearts and drink their blood."

She laughed. "Immortality and power will be ours to dance with."

Damon nodded. "The spell will begin through my slaves." His voice became confident. "It won’t be traced back to us."

Irene’s eyes exploded with deep purple and dark light. "And we shall have him."

The palace seemed to tremble with their ambitions.

PRESENT

Irene’s teeth clenched. The memory only made her angrier. No matter how powerful she was, her plan had failed. The tool she had relied on was useless now. Noah had neutralized her powers far too easily.

How? How had he done it?

Then the fear she had been trying to suppress finally became reality.

Noah’s body began to shimmer. His face changed. His eyes changed. His hair moved as though an invisible wind was passing through it. Even his legs and arms seemed surrounded by a strange radiance.

He raised both palms.

Damon’s eyes widened. At first, he thought it was some kind of joke. Then his body caught fire. Not from the outside. From within.

He screamed as the flames burned through his very existence.

The same thing happened to Irene. The Arch demons were caught in it as well. Their bodies began burning from the inside. Their screams filled the battlefield.

Their bodies started swelling unnaturally. The creatures surrounding them began collapsing.

Noah stood at the center of it all. His power continued growing.

Then—

BOOM!

An enormous explosion erupted from his chest. The energy burst outward. The ground shook violently. Buildings collapsed. Creatures were annihilated instantly. Demons disappeared into the overwhelming light. Supernatural beings were thrown across the battlefield.

Everything around Noah seemed to be swallowed by his power.

Damian suddenly realized what was happening. His eyes widened.

"Eugene!" He grabbed Eugene immediately. "We need to move!"

Eugene barely had time to react. Damian pulled him closer. The two staggered backward.

Damian slammed his hands together. A massive field of blood erupted around them. The shield formed just as the explosion reached them.

BOOM!

The impact slammed into the barrier. The blood shield cracked.

Damian gritted his teeth. "Hold..."

Another wave struck. The barrier shattered slightly. Damian coughed blood.

"Hold!"

Eugene grabbed him. "You don’t have to!"

"I do!"

Damian pushed more power into the shield.

The explosion continued spreading. The entire palace disappeared beneath the blinding light. The ground trembled. The sky shook.

The last thing anyone could hear was the deafening roar of Noah’s power.

Then—silence.

The entire battlefield went quiet.
