Chapter 158: Chapter 158 Arch demons attack

The wind flapped violently as the figure kept coming closer.

The demons scattered across the battlefield suddenly paused. None of them could move. It was as if an invisible force had frozen every creature in place. They couldn’t attack, retreat, or even turn their bodies.

Irene was the same. She stood frozen exactly where she had appeared beside Eugene and Damian, her entire body rigid like a statue carved from stone. The only thing she could move was her lips. Unfortunately, that was useless because no one was paying attention to the rubbish she was desperately trying to blabber.

Amidst it all, Damian and Eugene remained standing. They hadn’t been frozen like the others. Instead, they stood exactly where they were, staring at Irene in shock. She had been about to attack them. If Lysander hadn’t arrived when he did, neither of them wanted to imagine what their fate would have been.

Noah, however, could feel something else. The pressure coming from Lysander was overwhelming. Their bond had suddenly become stronger than it had ever been before. The connection between them snapped tightly into place, pulling at Noah’s mind and body so intensely that his head began to feel like it was about to explode.

Lysander didn’t walk any closer. It was almost as though the entire scene had paused for his arrival. Then he slowly widened his arms.

"Daddy is here, darling." A smile appeared on his face. "Come and hug me."

The bond between mates reacted immediately. Noah’s head began to spin. His heart jumped. The connection was trying to pull him toward Lysander, almost making his body move on its own.

But Noah resisted. He couldn’t fall for it. Not now.

This disaster had happened because he had been too distracted. Lamia had disappeared. His mates were still affected by the death sleep. Damon was standing right in front of him, and the dark witch who had been working with the Emperor was still alive.

Noah wasn’t leaving this place. Not until Damon was dead. Not until the witch responsible for this was gone. Not until he found Lamia and brought him back from wherever he had been dragged.

"I’m not coming." Noah’s voice was firm. "This drama has to stop."

His red eyes remained fixed on Damon. "I can put an end to all of this." He tightened his fingers. "That’s my purpose. That’s why I’m in this world." His expression hardened. "Maybe if I end him right now..."

His hands shot forward. A powerful gust of wind erupted. Damon’s body was lifted from the ground and violently dragged toward Noah.

The Emperor struggled. "No!"

Noah caught him by the neck. "I can change the fate of my mates." His grip tightened. "I can bring them back." His eyes burned with determination. "I’ll force him to destroy the death sleep. I’ll make him do it."

Noah wasn’t going to stop. That was what he had been trying to work toward. He needed his mates back. He needed Lamia back. And if killing Damon was the only way to accomplish that, then he would do it.

Lysander watched him carefully. His eyes narrowed when he noticed the Book of Shadows hovering behind Noah.

"That’s the Book of Shadows." His voice became more serious. "Is that how you’re attempting to succeed with your plans?"

Noah didn’t answer. Instead, his fingers dug deeper into Damon’s neck. The Emperor gasped, his throat being crushed, making it difficult for him to speak properly.

"It’s none of your business, Lysander." Damon tried to breathe. Noah squeezed harder. "I won’t leave here until they’re all dead." His gaze burned into Lysander. "That’s the promise I made to myself." He paused. "And I don’t intend to let go of it."

Lysander took one step closer. "I can see it in your eyes." His voice softened slightly. "You’re in pain."

Noah’s expression flickered.

"It’s your friend, isn’t it?" Lysander’s eyes remained fixed on him. "He disappeared here."

Noah’s body jerked slightly. He immediately tried to push the thought away.

Lamia. He remembered him screaming. He remembered the forbidden magic. The enormous spell Lamia had used to save all of them. If Lamia hadn’t done it, they would have been burned alive by the dragons. He had sacrificed himself. He had risked his own life to save Noah and everyone else.

And that was exactly what Noah couldn’t accept. He couldn’t be at peace with someone sacrificing themselves for him. That was the weakness inside him. He couldn’t stand losing people. He couldn’t stand knowing that someone had given up their life because of him.

"Noah..." Damian’s voice pulled him back. "It’s alright."

Damian slowly fell to his knees. He looked at Noah with desperation. "Lysander is right."

Noah’s grip on Damon remained firm.

"Please come back to us."

Damian didn’t want Noah to continue down this path. He could see where it was going. Noah was going to destroy himself, and Damian couldn’t allow that. History couldn’t repeat itself. He couldn’t lose someone close to him again. The memories of his terrible past remained buried inside him—memories he had never shared with anyone. But watching Noah now was bringing them back.

"Do it for Lamia, at least." Damian’s voice shook. "He did that to save you." He lowered his head. "He wouldn’t want you to become this."

Lysander nodded slowly. "He’s right."

Eugene had already moved closer as well. "Come back, Noah."

But they were still far away. None of them dared approach too closely.

Noah’s grip around Damon’s neck tightened again. Blood began dripping from the Emperor’s nose and mouth. Damon struggled to breathe.

Irene clenched her fists helplessly. She couldn’t stand watching her brother suffer. She tried to move. Nothing happened. Lysander’s magic kept her completely frozen.

Desdemona was the same. Her legs, feet, arms, and entire body were rigid.

Then Noah finally reacted. But no one got the chance to see what he was about to do.

The ground exploded. Lava erupted from beneath the broken palace. The battlefield shook violently as shadows began forming across the ground. Creatures emerged from the darkness. At first, there were only a few. Then there were dozens. Hundreds. They multiplied rapidly, turning into terrifying abominations covered in multiple heads and countless eyes.

Lysander was thrown off balance by the explosion. His wings spread as he regained himself. Then his eyes widened. He knew exactly who had arrived.

Five figures emerged from the burning ground. The five Arch demons of Hell.

At the front was Asmodeous. He sat upon a monstrous chariot made entirely of fire. The flames surrounding it burned with an unnatural glow. His enormous eyes blazed like furnaces. The other Arch demons stood behind him, their bodies radiating the same terrifying pressure. Around them, even more creatures crawled from the shadows. The battlefield was being swallowed by Hell’s forces.

Asmodeous took one dangerous step forward. Everything beneath his feet turned into ash and fire. His gaze swept across the battlefield.

"Where is the Pureblood?" His voice thundered. "We are here to end him."

A cruel smile appeared on his face. "We’re not going to allow another being like that to bring nightmares upon the supernatural world." He laughed. "And I heard he’s not even fully awakened yet." His eyes narrowed. "Pathetic." He smiled wider. "That makes him easier to kill."

Lysander’s expression became cold. He immediately knew who was behind this. Lucifer. That conniving bastard had discovered the truth. He knew Noah was Lysander’s mate. There was no other reason Lucifer would go this far.

"You dare go against me, Asmodeous?" Lysander’s voice carried across the battlefield. "Don’t make me angry."

Asmodeous slowly turned his enormous head toward him. His lips curved into a sly smile. "Probably too late for that."

He slammed his foot against the ground. The entire battlefield shook.

"Kill everything here!" His voice became a roar. "Especially the Pureblood!"

The creatures attacked.

Chaos erupted instantly. Demons rushed across the battlefield. Abominations crawled over the broken palace. Monstrous creatures flew through the air.

Eugene immediately rushed toward Noah. Damian followed. They needed to fight beside him.

But before Damian could reach Noah, something slammed into his forehead—a violent force. His bones cracked.

"AHHH!"

Damian dropped to one knee. Pain ripped through his entire body. He realized what was happening.

The curse.

Someone had unleashed it. His body began changing. His skin darkened. His bones shifted. His eyes became darker.

"No..." He struggled to breathe. "I’m transforming..."

Noah’s eyes widened. "DAMIAN!"

Two demons suddenly jumped toward Noah. Their claws stretched toward his face. But before they could touch him, Noah waved his hand. The demons froze in midair. Their skin began melting, peeling away from their bodies as they screamed. A deafening shriek echoed across the battlefield. Their bodies collapsed into burning remains.

Noah turned toward the other demons. His hand lifted. A powerful orb of light exploded from his palm. It slammed into the ground. The impact spread across the battlefield. Demons were swallowed by the light and melted away.

But Lysander was fighting his own battle. The five Arch demons had surrounded him. He didn’t want them getting anywhere near Noah.

Asmodeous stared at him. "You’re a child without deep knowledge of the powers of Hell."

Dark energy gathered around the Arch demons. "And you think you can compete with the Lord of Hell?"

Five enormous tendrils of dark magic erupted. Lysander raised his hands. His own dark tendrils formed. The two attacks collided.

BOOM!

The impact shook the entire palace. Lysander held his ground. But the five Arch demons combined their powers. Their energy pushed harder. Lysander’s feet began sliding backward. The heat became unbearable. They kept moving toward him.

They were the most powerful demons of Hell for a reason.

"You would kill him," one of the Arch demons growled. "And this useless demon won’t be able to do anything."

Another laughed. "You don’t deserve to be our prince."

The pressure increased.

"You’re weak."

"You fell for a Pureblood."

"You stayed in the human world."

"You even allowed witches to defeat you."

Their voices overlapped. "Oh, Lysander..." The tendrils slammed against him harder. "You have lost your power."

The force pushed him backward. His footing nearly slipped. But he refused to fall.

Noah noticed. His eyes shifted toward Lysander for only a second. Then he looked at Damian. Damian was still struggling. His transformation was getting worse.

Noah started moving toward him. But Asmodeous suddenly attacked. A dark tendril slammed into Noah. His body was thrown backward. He crashed into a pillar. The stone shattered around him.

"Noah!" Damian screamed.

Pain exploded through Noah’s body. He slowly pushed himself out of the rubble.

Damian’s eyes had become almost completely dark. Blood began swirling around him. His blood-rage power erupted into the sky. The energy shot toward Asmodeous. The attack struck the Arch demon.

Asmodeous barely moved. He slowly turned his head toward Damian. His neck twisted unnaturally until his face was looking directly at him. Then he laughed.

"A human trying to defeat a higher demon?" His smile widened. "How foolish."

Dark tendrils exploded from his body. They wrapped around Damian and launched him across the battlefield. He slammed into the ground. His body rolled several times before stopping. Then his skin began flaring and changing.

Damian screamed.

Noah staggered. He could feel Damian’s pain through their connection. His eyes widened. "Damian..."

Eugene was surrounded on all sides. He fought desperately to reach Damian, but he couldn’t get through the demons. He prepared to use his affinity.

But before he could—

Noah stepped out of the rubble. Blood covered parts of his body. His breathing was heavy. Yet his eyes burned brighter than before.

He slammed both hands onto the ground. The entire battlefield shook. Every creature standing nearby collapsed. Demons were thrown off their feet. Abominations crashed into one another. Then flames erupted from the ground. A massive wave of light followed. The battlefield became a sea of fire and golden energy.

Noah raised both hands. A huge orb of light formed between his palms. It grew larger. And larger. The energy became almost impossible to contain.

His eyes locked onto the five Arch demons. Then he threw it.

The enormous orb tore through the battlefield. It slammed toward the Arch demons with terrifying speed.

For one second, everything went silent.

Then the disaster became terror.
