Chapter 160: Chapter 160 Supernatural massacre

Before Noah could recover and land properly, something slammed straight through his back, sending him crashing toward a broken pillar. His body struck it hard, causing the already-damaged structure to crumble beneath him as he let out a painful yelp.

"Who is that? Didn’t I kill them all?"

Noah slowly lifted his head and looked around. The sight before him made his breath catch.

The destruction caused by his powers had spread across the entire palace. Huge sections of the Imperial Palace had collapsed, leaving nothing but ruins and broken structures. The ground continued to shake beneath his feet, while deep cracks stretched across the floor in every direction. And there, in the middle of it all, was a massive gaping hole.

But the Arch demons were nowhere to be seen. Neither were Lysander, Damian, or Eugene.

Noah didn’t need to search any further before panic began to consume him. His mates.

His eyes widened. "I didn’t..." His lips trembled. "I didn’t do that to them too, did I?"

He couldn’t remember exactly what had happened. He didn’t know what had come over him or how he had managed to tap into such terrifying power. All he remembered was Lamia.

His best friend had turned into a burst of light because he had sacrificed himself to protect them. And Noah had lost it. The rage had consumed him so completely that everything afterward had happened within the blink of an eye.

Now, surrounded by the destruction he had caused, Noah could barely recognize himself.

Smoke rose from the ruins as he staggered forward, desperately searching through the wreckage. Then he felt something warm against his stomach.

He looked down. Blood. He was bleeding.

A large wound had torn across his abdomen, but Noah barely paid attention to it. He didn’t care. Not when he couldn’t find them.

"Lysander!" His voice echoed through the ruins. "Lysander!"

He turned his head from side to side, desperately searching for any sign of the demon. Nothing.

"Damian!" His voice cracked. "Eugene!"

Still nothing.

Noah’s breathing became uneven. He hadn’t brought them here to kill them. That had never been the plan. He had only wanted to save Lamia. He had wanted to destroy Damon, stop the Book of Shadows, and force everything back under control.

He never imagined it would escalate this far. He never imagined Lamia would disappear. That had brought out something inside him that even he couldn’t recognize.

"I’m sorry..." Noah whispered. His eyes filled with tears. "Please come out and meet me. I can’t lose you guys too."

The tears finally spilled down his cheeks. He staggered forward, almost dropping to his knees, when two figures suddenly appeared through the smoke.

Noah froze. Red hair. Then brown hair.

His eyes widened. "That’s..."

Eugene. Damian. It was really them.

The bond inside Noah suddenly reacted, and along with it came a sharp wave of pain that wasn’t his own. Damian. Something was terribly wrong with Damian.

Eugene was holding him upright.

Noah immediately rushed toward them. He pushed through the debris and grabbed both of their heads, pulling them into his arms.

"Oh, fuck! You both are okay!" His voice shook with relief. "I didn’t kill you! I—"

He stopped.

Damian suddenly coughed. Noah looked down. Damian’s face was twisted in pain, and Noah’s eyes widened when he noticed the massive tear across his chest.

"Something is terribly wrong..." Damian managed to say.

Noah’s hands immediately began shaking. "Did I do this?" His voice cracked. "Tell me I didn’t."

Eugene quickly shook his head. "You didn’t."

"Then what happened?"

"I think it’s the one who controlled the Book of Shadows earlier. The cloaked figure we saw casting those spells." Eugene swallowed hard. "I think Damian was poisoned while he was in his monster form. And now that he’s trying to transform back..." His voice became strained. "Whatever she did to him is trapping him between forms. He’s going to die."

Noah’s heart dropped.

Eugene suddenly stepped away and ran a hand over his face. "I don’t know what to do." He began pacing. "I don’t know what to do, Noah. I’m so useless tonight. I couldn’t help. I couldn’t make anything right during this battle, and now I can’t even provide a solution." He slammed his palms against his face. "I’m the worst mate ever."

Noah barely heard him. Something else had caught his attention.

The silhouette standing behind Eugene had begun to move. At first, Noah thought it was another shadow created by the smoke. Then another silhouette appeared. And another.

Several figures slowly stepped out of the darkness. They were holding each other’s hands. Their eyes were fixed on Noah. And there was nothing human in the hatred inside them.

"What in the world...?"

Eugene almost tripped over his own feet as he backed away. It wasn’t just their presence that frightened him. It was the fact that they looked completely real. Flesh. Blood. Human faces. Yet something about them made his skin crawl.

"Noah..." Eugene whispered. He moved closer to him. "I don’t know who these people are."

Noah was still holding Damian in his arms, tears falling onto his chest. He slowly turned around. The moment he saw them, the small smile that had appeared on his face disappeared.

Not again. Not another threat.

A woman stepped forward. She was still holding the hands of the witches beside her, but unlike the others, she stood at the front with an expression that was completely serious.

"You are not welcome here," she said. Her voice echoed through the ruins. "Not in this empire, and certainly not in our world."

Noah’s expression hardened.

The woman continued. "A demon is your mate. We cannot allow you to bring your seed into this world."

Noah’s eyes narrowed.

"It would tear apart the balance of nature and bring about a disaster greater than anything humanity has ever faced." She pointed toward him. "I can already sense it. The prophecy has been written in our halls for generations. Your child will bring about the downfall of humanity—the very humanity we have fought to protect."

Her expression turned colder. "That abomination cannot be brought into this world."

Noah’s heart sank.

"And because you were supposed to be on our side, I shouldn’t have to do this." She tightened her grip on the hand beside her. "But you chose the wrong side." Her eyes glowed. "So you and your companions will all die."

Noah’s world began spinning.

Lamia. The warning Lamia had given him suddenly came rushing back. He had warned Noah that something like this could happen. Of course. The news had spread. Everyone knew now.

Noah Evernight, the Pureblood. The fated mate of Lysander, Prince of Hell. The combination of two beings capable of shaking the supernatural world was enough to make every faction afraid.

Demons. Witches. Supernatural clans. Everyone could come after them.

And now these witches were talking about balance and prophecy.

Noah looked at them carefully. They weren’t ordinary witches.

Eugene suddenly spoke. "I know who they are."

Noah glanced at him.

"The Witches of the West Coast." His expression became grim. "They’re notoriously known throughout the supernatural world. They keep mostly to themselves and operate as a coven from the cemetery of the empire, which is basically the heart of their power."

He stared at the women. "They’re feared for a reason. They handle supernatural incidents that could cause serious damage to humans."

Noah’s eyes narrowed.

Eugene continued. "The Phoenix witches are supreme when it comes to raw power and feats, but the Witches of the West Coast are different. They specialize in spirit magic." He looked at their joined hands. "And they always cast together."

The witches began whispering. Their voices overlapped.

Eugene’s expression changed. "That’s why they’re dangerous."

Their magic came from the spirits within their cemetery, unlike the Phoenix witches, who drew power from nature and chaos itself. If these witches combined their spells... They could become something far more dangerous than a single witch.

"We have to disappear," Eugene said quickly. He looked at Noah. "Let’s go back to Lysander’s territory. It’s safe there. We can’t stay here anymore."

But before Noah could answer, something suddenly descended from above. A pair of wings spread wide.

A figure landed directly between them and the witches. His massive back blocked Noah, Damian, and Eugene completely.

Noah’s eyes widened. Black wings. Raven hair. Red eyes.

Lysander.

The demon was alive. Noah released a breath he hadn’t even realized he’d been holding.

"Lysander..."

The demon glanced back at them. "You three should go." His voice was cold. "I can deal with them."

His eyes turned malicious as he faced the witches. "Those witches need to be dealt with. I’ve had enough of them." He flexed his fingers. "And it’s time I remind them that demons don’t rank beneath them."

The older woman narrowed her eyes. Hatred burned deeply within them. "You killed one of us."

Lysander’s lips curled upward. He laughed. "Oh." He tilted his head. "That useless female?"

The witch’s expression darkened.

"She actually thought she could have an effect on me." His smile widened. "She attacked me while I was alone. So don’t blame me for what happened."

Noah couldn’t help wondering what he was talking about, but his concern quickly returned to Lysander. Lysander was powerful. He was immortal. But these witches specialized in spells. Especially spirit magic.

And Noah remembered what Lysander had told him about the slumber he had once been trapped in. He couldn’t let them put Lysander through that again.

The older witch stepped forward. "Well, son of the Devil..." Her eyes flashed. "You will learn why no one should ever mess with the witches."

The moment she finished speaking, the entire coven moved. Their hands tightened around each other. Their voices rose together.

Whispers. Ancient words. Spirit chants.

The sounds began floating through the air, multiplying until dozens of voices seemed to surround the entire palace. The ground shook. The foundation of the ruined palace trembled.

For a moment, it felt as though the entire world had turned upside down.

Lysander’s body suddenly seized. His eyes widened as countless shadows emerged around him. Ancestors. Spirits. Malicious figures made entirely of ancient magic.

They slammed into him one after another.

Lysander screamed. He had never felt anything like it. Their suppressant magic was working.

The same spell struck the Alphas. Eugene and Damian collapsed, screaming as their bodies convulsed.

Lysander resisted harder than they could, but even he was struggling.

"Damn witches!"

Dark tendrils exploded from his body. A black orb formed in his palm before he launched it directly at the coven. Several witches were struck. Their bodies flew backward, smashing into the broken pillars. Their necks snapped.

Lysander clicked his tongue. "Humans..."

But the remaining witches didn’t stop. They pressed harder. Their chanting became louder.

Then—BOOM!

An explosion tore through Lysander’s mind. His head slammed into the floor. Blood trickled from his mouth as his body collapsed.

Noah’s eyes widened. Something inside him snapped. He couldn’t take it anymore.

He released Damian and stepped forward. The Alphas were still screaming on the ground. Lysander was struggling. The witches were trying to crush them.

Noah’s hands curled into fists. "No." His voice trembled. Then he screamed. "ENOUGH!"

A massive surge of energy exploded from his body. Black mist and dark smoke burst from his hands, twisting together with an obliterating light. The wave slammed directly into the witches.

Their screams filled the ruined palace. Their bodies began melting. Flesh dissolved. Skin burned away. Their forms collapsed into masses of blood before hitting the ground.

One after another, they dropped. Dozens of witches lay dead.

Silence descended over the ruins.

Noah’s eyes slowly returned to normal. His breathing became ragged. His legs suddenly felt like jelly. He tried to remain standing.

He couldn’t.

His knees buckled. Noah collapsed onto the ground. The last thing he saw was the ruined palace spinning around him.

Then everything went black.

******

Gasp!

Noah’s eyes suddenly flew open. He looked around wildly. White walls. Bright lights. A strange beeping sound.

His breathing became frantic. Where was he?

Before he could even process what he was seeing, a familiar voice suddenly cried out.

"Doctor! Come right here! He’s awake!"

Noah froze. His heart nearly stopped.

That voice. He knew that voice.

Slowly, he turned his head. And standing beside him was a face he hadn’t seen in what felt like another lifetime.

His sister. His sister from the modern world.

Noah’s entire body went rigid. "What..." His eyes widened in disbelief. "No..." His breathing became faster. "This isn’t..."

His sister stared at him with tears filling her eyes. "Noah?"

He opened his mouth. Then he screamed. "AAAAAHHHHH!"

The sound tore through the hospital room.

And for the first time since entering that supernatural world... Noah was back home.
