Hearing Noah mention the Book of Shadows, Killian immediately shook his head.

"No. Absolutely not. I’m not letting you do that."

Noah turned toward him, already knowing from the look in Killian’s eyes that another argument was coming.

"How did you even get your hands on that book?" Killian demanded. "It’s a forbidden artifact, and it’s forbidden for a reason. There’s a reason it’s been locked away for centuries, so how the hell did you even find it?"

Noah frowned.

He couldn’t exactly tell them that the book had practically found him.

It had been waiting inside his room, hidden away like it had known he would eventually need it.

"Don’t you know the history of that thing?" Killian continued, his voice rising. "It’s dark magic. Vicious magic. That book doesn’t just give you power. It takes something from you in return. Your soul, your humanity... eventually, you won’t even know the difference between right and wrong."

He stepped directly in front of Noah.

"So I’d be damned if I let you use that thing."

Noah groaned.

More screams echoed from somewhere beyond the dormitory, followed by the horrifying sound of flesh being torn apart.

They didn’t have time for this.

"We’re wasting time."

Eugene, Marcus, and Damian immediately surrounded Noah.

"He is right," Eugene said grimly. "That book is evil."

Noah looked at him.

Eugene’s expression had lost all its usual playfulness.

"That book once destroyed the humanity of a girl who was supposed to have the sweetest soul. She believed she could use it for good. She thought her intentions would protect her."

He swallowed.

"They didn’t."

"What happened to her?"

Eugene’s gaze lowered.

"She eventually lost herself completely. She nearly destroyed this entire school before the Dean stopped her."

Noah’s eyes widened.

"Stopped her?"

He stared at them.

"You mean killed her?"

Nobody answered immediately.

That silence was answer enough.

"Oh, shit."

Noah rubbed his forehead.

"So if I use it, I’m going to get killed too?"

They all nodded.

But another thought immediately entered his mind.

"If it’s really that dangerous, how did Ashton even get access to it?"

No one answered.

"And why wasn’t it destroyed?"

Damian stepped closer and lowered his voice.

"Because it can’t be."

Noah blinked.

"What?"

"The Book of Shadows is indestructible."

Noah’s stomach sank.

There went his backup plan.

He looked toward the shattered window.

Outside, students were still screaming.

Creatures were tearing through the school.

Blood was covering the ground.

And somehow, they were standing here arguing about whether he should use a forbidden book.

Noah clenched his fists.

"Fine."

Everyone looked at him.

"If you don’t want me to use the Book of Shadows, then let me go out there and stop them."

"Noah—"

"You can’t expect me to sit here and do nothing."

His voice cracked with frustration.

"I can hear them screaming. I can see people dying. I’m supposed to be the hope of this world, yet I’m hiding in a room while innocent people are slaughtered outside."

He looked at each of them.

"My heart won’t let me do that."

His expression softened.

"And I’m sure you don’t want me to become someone who can."

Marcus stepped closer.

The desire to touch Noah was almost unbearable.

He wanted to pull him into his arms, feel his warmth, and forget about the chaos outside for even a moment.

But there was no time.

Eugene felt the same ache.

The instinct to touch their mate, comfort him, hold him close—it was almost painful to suppress.

Killian noticed their expressions and released a heavy breath.

Damian didn’t need to guess what Noah was feeling.

Ever since the mark had connected their souls, Noah’s emotions had become impossible for him to ignore. Every fear, every frustration, every desperate need seemed to echo inside his own chest.

And strangely, he loved that connection.

He also hated it.

Because right now, he wanted to give Noah everything he needed.

Yet there wasn’t even enough time to breathe.

"I hate this," Noah muttered.

Everyone looked at him.

"This isn’t the life I wanted."

His eyes became glassy.

"I have four gorgeous Alphas, and somehow I’m still dealing with monsters, ancient spirits, evil emperors, forbidden artifacts, and the fate of the entire world."

He threw his hands up helplessly.

"I’m not supposed to be carrying the world’s problems on my shoulders!"

Eugene reached up and gently caressed his cheek.

"We know."

His hazel eyes softened.

"And you’re right. We shouldn’t let those people die."

Noah looked at him.

"So we’ll fight together."

Eugene smiled faintly.

"We’ll do this together, and we’ll leave this school together."

A tear slipped from the corner of his eye and landed against Noah’s hand.

"But if we do this, what about your parents?" Noah asked quietly. "Don’t you guys want to see them?"

Eugene sighed.

"I think Marcus might be the only one who would miss his."

Marcus remained silent.

The others didn’t say anything either.

Killian’s expression remained strangely placid, as though the subject meant nothing to him.

Noah noticed.

But he didn’t press.

They had more important things to worry about.

Killian finally straightened.

"Then let’s end those monsters’ reign."

The others nodded.

Together, they moved toward the door.

The moment they stepped outside the dormitory, however, they realized things were far worse than they had imagined.

The hallway had become a massacre.

Bodies were scattered across the floor.

Blood covered the walls.

Students were running in every direction while teachers desperately tried to create barriers between them and the creatures.

But the monsters kept coming.

"No!"

Noah immediately rushed forward.

Two massive creatures were dragging a pair of female students away.

Noah raised his hand.

A thin thread of brilliant light shot from his palm.

It pierced straight through both creatures’ skulls.

They disintegrated instantly.

The girls collapsed.

Marcus and Damian rushed forward, catching them before they could hit the ground.

"Are you hurt?"

The girls shook their heads frantically.

Noah barely had time to check on them before another group of monsters came charging from the opposite corridor.

Damian stepped forward.

"Enough."

He raised both hands.

Every creature within range suddenly stopped.

They were suspended in midair.

Dozens of them.

Their limbs jerked violently as Damian’s blood manipulation wrapped around their bodies.

Their bones began cracking.

Their necks twisted unnaturally.

The monsters screamed as Damian clenched his fists.

Then—

BOOM!

Their bodies exploded into pools of blood.

Noah grimaced as the disgusting remains splattered across the walls.

"I swear I’m going to soak myself in a bathtub for a week after this."

A claw suddenly swung toward him.

Noah ducked.

Marcus stepped forward.

His affinity immediately spread through the creatures surrounding them.

Their eyes changed.

The monsters turned toward one another.

Marcus gave a cold command.

"Kill your friends."

The stronger creatures immediately obeyed.

They tore into one another, ripping flesh from bone and creating another chaotic battlefield.

Killian smiled darkly.

He looked directly into the eyes of several monsters.

Their eyes turned completely black.

Their bodies froze.

Then their skulls began swelling.

One after another—

They dropped lifelessly to the ground.

Eugene stomped his foot against the floor.

A wave of power spread outward.

The horde charging toward them suddenly froze.

Their bodies hardened.

Stone spread across their limbs until they became statues.

A second later, they shattered into dust.

For a brief moment, Noah thought they had finally gained control.

Then—

A claw punched through someone’s chest.

Noah’s eyes widened.

Pain exploded through his body.

He looked down.

Blood.

His own blood.

Two massive humanoid creatures with enormous wings had appeared behind him.

One claw had pierced straight through his chest.

"Noah!"

The four Alphas screamed.

Noah’s vision blurred.

He could barely breathe.

The creatures pulled their claws free.

Noah staggered forward, blood pouring from his chest.

"How..."

His voice trembled.

"...dare you?"

The air changed.

Every Alpha around him felt it.

Noah’s eyes ignited with furious flames.

"How dare you hurt my mate?"

The two creatures suddenly began choking.

Their bodies lifted from the ground.

Their flesh started tearing apart from the inside.

Chunks of their bodies dropped onto the floor as an invisible force crushed them.

But Noah wasn’t done.

Walls cracked.

The entire school seemed to respond to his rage.

"Noah, stop!"

Killian rushed toward him.

The entire structure began collapsing.

"Get him out of here!"

Killian grabbed Noah’s arm.

"Now!"

The upper floors began breaking apart.

Stone and glass rained down.

Eugene looked upward.

His eyes widened when he saw the moon rising above the ruined school.

He had an idea.

A completely insane idea.

But it was their only chance.

"I can freeze time."

Everyone looked at him.

Killian’s expression changed.

"You’ve never done that before."

"I know!"

Eugene raised both hands.

"But I’m not letting us get crushed."

The moonlight fell across his body.

He closed his eyes.

His entire body began glowing.

"Moon Goddess..."

His voice echoed through the collapsing school.

"Moon Goddess, hear me."

The wind suddenly stopped.

The falling debris slowed.

"Moon Goddess, hear me!"

Eugene’s voice became louder.

"I said..."

His eyes snapped open.

"...freeze."

Everything stopped.

The monsters.

The falling buildings.

The blood.

The screaming.

Even the dust suspended in the air.

The entire world became motionless.

Except Eugene.

He stood alone in the frozen battlefield, breathing heavily as he stared at the destruction surrounding them.

For the first time in his life, he had successfully stopped time.

And now he had only one chance to save them all.
