Chapter 119: Chapter 118: Another normal day of school, not the first, not the last, just another one

After taking care of all that troublesome business, Yuuji and Lala finally returned to their world.

Thursday morning, and the couple was heading toward high school with the normalcy of someone who wasn’t a god of one universe and the successor to the Galactic King in another.

Yuuji found it somewhat strange for a moment, but then he remembered that the girl beside him was the princess of the galaxy, and that had never affected her normal life, at least in that regard, so he mentally shrugged, deciding not to give it any importance either.

"Yuuji, Yuuji, did you get anything interesting from the Gacha?"

"Nothing too good. The best thing was the Eye of Agamotto, a Divine reward"

"Huh? A divine eye? What does it do? Does it let you see the future?" Lala asked curiously.

"The future, past, present, possibilities. Basically, control over time" Yuuji confirmed.

"Huh? Control over time? Then why is it called an eye?"

Yuuji didn’t answer, instead taking the necklace out of his inventory.

"Ooh, it looks like some kind of really cool ancient artifact. The kind of thing a sorcerer or a very eccentric person would use" Lala didn’t even pay attention to its effect, instead observing its appearance with great interest while looking at Yuuji from the corner of her eye in an overly obvious manner.

"Keep it if you like it that much" Yuuji smiled.

Lala didn’t hesitate for even a second and tilted her head so Yuuji could put it on her. He simply sighed in amusement and put it around her neck.

"I look awesome" Lala said proudly.

"Try doing this" Yuuji made several different hand signs, moving his hands in a specific manner from in front of the eye outward to guide Lala.

Lala followed his instructions, and the inside of the golden metal eye began to glow green while several of its parts moved with gear-like sounds, revealing the powerful green stone inside.

"Incredible, I look like a sorcerer"

"A supreme sorcerer" Yuuji corrected her.

"That name is even better" Lala’s eyes shone with amusement as she continued playing with her new necklace.

"Lala, entering high school with dangerous artifacts is strictly prohibited. I’m going to ask you to leave it behind"

"Ah, I’ll keep it inside the D-Dial during school"

"Although the D-Dial itself is quite dangerous"

"Huh? How could it be? It’s impossible for an artifact containing thousands of artifacts from across the universe to be dangerous, right?"

"...Are you joking?"

"Pffft, of course I am. Yui, it’s been a while" Lala laughed and hugged Yui nostalgically.

"Even though we saw each other over the weekend. What have you been doing these past few days? I thought you’d be back at the beginning of the week" Yui asked, hugging her back for a few seconds before separating.

"We went to another world where there are gods, and we became the leaders of the Biblical faction. Yuuji became God" Lala replied naturally.

"...Never mind, just go in for now. Oh, and please don’t use that glowing necklace inside. It looks dangerous" Yui decided to selectively ignore what she had just heard.

"Don’t worry, Miss Student Council Member. It only serves to control time" Lala teased as she ran off.

Yui looked at Yuuji with concern.

"Although it is not recommended, interfering with the natural order of things usually brings catastrophic consequences"

"W-why did you give her something like that?" Yui stammered nervously.

"It suits her" Yuuji laughed before leaving as well, leaving Yui standing there without knowing whether to laugh or cry.

...

Yuuji entered the classroom and found Lala already sitting down, talking animatedly with Haruna. Seeing Haruna blush, it wasn’t difficult to guess what they were talking about.

Yuuji passed by her, greeting her with a nod when their eyes met, and sat down in his seat.

"What is he doing?" he wondered when he saw Rito with several books, trying to study even though his expression showed that he didn’t understand anything.

"He’s studying hard" a voice beside him said.

"Very hard" Mio agreed as well.

"Risa, Mio, hello"

"Just a hello after not seeing each other for two months? Yuuji, you’re so cold" Risa joked.

"Two months? Are you trying to make me forget that we saw each other over the weekend so I won’t remind you that you ate almost the entire table by yourself?" Yuuji laughed.

"Y-Yuuji? What are you talking about? We haven’t seen each other in two months" Risa insisted, her ears turning red.

"Yuuji, forgive her. She comes from an ordinary background, so she’d never tried so many delicious things before" Mio defended her without putting too much effort into it.

"Don’t you also come from an ordinary background? And I remember you only ate two dishes"

"Two is a lot for me"

"If two is a lot, then what about her? She ate six"

Mio blinked for a second before turning toward Risa. "I did my best. You’re on your own"

"Miooo, at least try a little harder before giving up" Risa helplessly watched as Mio simply went to her seat and began reading a manga featuring anthology horror stories.

"So, Risa, I know we haven’t seen each other for two months and we should catch up and all that, but... why is Rito studying so much?" Yuuji asked, deciding to play along.

"Huh? Ah, Yuuji, you missed it. A few days ago, Miss Kanemitsu Ruri and Rito’s sister, Mikan, came to give a talk about business, the business environment, and habits.

Miss Ruri introduced Mikan as her direct disciple and said that she surpassed any middle school student, already being comparable to a university student, and then she let her give part of the lecture.

Hahaha, it was really funny watching Rito while Mikan was talking. His little sister taught him, it must have been really embarrassing. The best part was that I’m sure he didn’t understand most of it" Risa was surprised by Yuuji’s performance, but quickly reacted and explained what had happened, even laughing as she remembered it. "Since that day, Rito said he had to study more so he wouldn’t at least be a failure compared to his little sister, and he’s been like this ever since. He’ll get over it in a little while"

"Ruri and Mikan were here, you say?"

"And Yami too, as security"

"I see. Now I regret missing it" Yuuji said in disappointment.

"Yuuji Rito!"

"Looks like you have guests. See you later" Risa quickly said goodbye, anticipating the problematic people.

Ignoring the looks around him, Saki entered the classroom with a large stack of papers and handed them to Yuuji, leaving them on his desk.

"We have all of this pending. What are you doing that you’re not working?"

"Huh?" Yuuji blinked in confusion before realizing. ’Right, going to other worlds makes the avatars disappear. I have to replace them and send them to work’

"I’ll do it this afternoon. Is it really that important?"

"Yes. We promised five new stories, but none of them are ready because you disappeared"

"Why didn’t you just ask another artist?"

"Yuuji, do you ever pay attention when I tell you about our plans?"

"Wait, I was just distracted. Let me think. The opening of the American headquarters, right?" Yuuji remembered.

"That’s right. We already have a precedent of publishing a volume with every new publication of a Story, and if we want to establish a solid base on another continent, we need good material. No, not good, perfect. We need good stories with good art. We need you"

’Five complete volumes. Even with my current ability, I need at least twelve minutes, and there are only four minutes left before class starts’ Yuuji thought for a moment before coming up with an idea.

"Lala"

"Yes?" Lala asked, immediately coming over.

"I need you to freeze time for a while. Can you do it?"

"Of course" Lala said confidently as she put on the Eye of Agamotto and opened it using the hand signs Yuuji had taught her earlier.

Before Saki could confirm what they were going to do, a green light emerged from the Time Stone, and everyone around them except the three of them froze.

"How was that? Not bad for my first time, right?" Lala smiled proudly.

"Y-you froze time?"

"That’s right. I’ll finish the five volumes in about 30 minutes" Yuuji nodded as he joined several desks together to serve as a workspace and took the necessary materials out of his D-Dial.

He didn’t have to take out any paper because that was what Saki had brought. That’s right, she had brought two entire stacks of blank manuscript paper. Someone else would probably wonder if she was crazy, but Yuuji knew Saki’s eccentricities well and knew that she simply wanted to look like a very busy executive.

"With your ability, couldn’t you do it in 15 minutes?" Saki asked, letting the elephant in the room pass far too quickly.

"11" Yuuji corrected her. "But with all the time in the world, what’s the need to work so hard?"

Yuuji smiled as he began drawing rapidly.

Scritch Scritch

Exactly 30 minutes later, Yuuji handed the five original manuscripts to Saki and told Mona to digitize them and send digital versions to the company as well.

And Saki left the place satisfied without waiting a single second.

"Well, time to conquer North America with my business skills as well" she declared confidently as she left.

Yuuji simply watched her leave with an amused smile before putting everything back so Lala could return time to normal.

With a little over three minutes left until the hour, all the students had already gone to their seats, and even Lala was no exception.

Although the fact that Yuuji sat beside her, which was equally amusing no matter where he was, affected this.

"By the way, Yuuji, you were talking earlier about returning to normal, but isn’t our normal pretty weird already?

"I don’t think there’s much difference between this and an alien planet" Lala muttered, not too loudly.

"You’re only realizing that now? Ever since you arrived on Earth, normal stopped being the norm in our normal" Yuuji laughed.

"So it’s my fault?!" Lala pointed at herself, somehow surprised.

"It’s thanks to you" Yuuji corrected her. "Compared to a boring routine, I think our chaotic and fun normal is better"

"Hehe, then I think that’s fine. Yuuji, I’ll keep causing chaos in the future, so let’s keep having fun" Lala smiled.

"Of course. At this point, I don’t have any way out of it anyway" Yuuji smiled as well.
