To Love Ru: Chaos

Chapter 120: Thank you for reading (and a little more).

  • Next Chapter

Hey, how are you all doing? Thank you so much for reading all the way to the end. Although it was a short story, it was a story that I put a lot of effort into and that I am proud of.

The truth is that I thought the ending felt somewhat abrupt. I was going to write the ending and was actually surprised that it suddenly came around. However, the truth is that I had already prepared for it, and it is exactly how I planned it. My plan was always the journey, the last Gacha, one or two Chapters to resolve the situation in DxD, and a normal daily life Chapter as the ending.

The problem was that the journey Chapters were very long. Each Chapter took me a day except for the last one, which took me two, I do not write every day, and then I needed another day to edit them. I ended up spending more than a week writing them. So by the time I finished the journey and it was time to write the ending, I had almost forgotten about the plan, and I was surprised that it was already time to write the ending.

Although if there is something that really surprised me, it was the Divine-level rewards. I expected them to be good and to let me resolve the DxD situation very quickly. As I said before, the plan was one or two Chapters, but I did not expect them to be THAT broken.

So now you know, if you ever use the Chaos Gacha and want to keep things balanced, do not put the protagonist in a world of crazy but non-dangerous adventures like To Love Ru, or simply turn it into actual danger like many people do. But I wanted to keep the style of To Love Ru, where Lala can pull any crazy invention capable of doing completely insane things out of nowhere and nobody gets hurt.

But leaving my personal opinion aside, the ending itself was not abrupt. For everyone who read the "before you read" before I deleted it, I imagine you remember that the plan was to make 110 to 120 Chapters of this, which is exactly how long it lasted.

My plan was to make a daily life story focused on the relationship between Yuuji and Lala, from an almost forced friendship to love. I think it turned out pretty well, and the two of them complement each other quite well.

Although I have to say that writing daily life was very difficult. I really do not know how to write when there is no objective involved. But at least I think I improved enough at it that other future or current stories will not feel too rushed, although I never plan to make a daily life series again.

Something I regret not having had enough time to do was developing Saki, which was one of the goals I had at the beginning. It is a shame.

Anyway, as I already said, thank you very much to everyone for reading, and check out my other fics if you want. Although, being honest, they are nothing like this one, and I have been relying less and less on AI, with this being the last one. So the previous ones have more AI than this one. The first one is almost entirely AI, I wrote it and told the AI to improve it. The second one started the same way, and after a while I started telling the AI to only correct grammar and fluency. Nowadays, I no longer use AI. My goal with AI was always to use it while I improved as a writer, so I think I no longer need it, which is why I do not use it, and I am not ashamed of having used it before.

Of course, I think there is still a lot for me to improve from where I am now, but at least I am already at the finish line where I do not need help to convey my story.

Thank you very much to those who read a little and left, thank you very much to those who read all the way to the end, thank you very much to those who gave power stones, thank you very much to those who commented, thank you very much to those who left a review, thank you to those who read in the past, thank you to those who will read in the future, thank you to those who are reading in the present, and above all, thank you very much to those who are still here reading.

Goodbye and see you next time.

I will leave a few little curiosities in case anyone wants to read them:

-The reason there is an entire Chapter dedicated to how a manga publishing company works is because I planned for Yuuji to expand into other entertainment businesses in the future, something that ended up not happening here but does happen in the canonical future of the fic. The plan was for Yuuji to simply be too lazy to deal with so many different things with so many different ways of operating, so the protagonist would just make everything work the same way as a publishing company, even if it made no sense.

-The reason there is so much explanation about antimatter is because the original plan was to send Nemesis to another one of those aspects of reality, one where what we call antimatter is ordinary matter to them, so it would not be an error, she would simply be a powerful person and would be loved there. I discarded it because it really did not make much sense for her to be loved there given her lore, and also because I thought the protagonist with two superpowered maids at his sides, one Grayfia and the other Nemesis, would look pretty cool.

-In fact, the original plan was for the Dracula situation to be solved with Yami taking his position. I never developed the idea very much, so there is not much to say, but my plan was to also involve the sacred sword that the Yuuji family has, which came from Europe. Maybe I could have made the sword the vampires’ weakness and the only thing capable of killing them, and Yami, possessing nanotechnology, could somehow assimilate it, turning herself into a walking vampire weakness? I really do not know.

-This entire fic came from me asking for ideas and someone telling me to try the Chaos Gacha, and I liked the suggestion, but it also came from a simple panel from a comic I once saw of a girl in disguise who gives a boy a kiss on the cheek, and later, without the disguise, she gets embarrassed about it. I reference it near the beginning, and it was also one of the initial things that started Lala and Yuuji’s relationship. Lala, without her memories of Rito, became attracted to Yuuji because he supports her, trusts her and her inventions, and even has fun with them just like she does.
