Chapter 290: 290: Bickering

Sunnie was already done with breakfast. She was in her room with her children—Maren, Ronan, Luna, and Lune—telling them some fascinating night stories when Zayn and Karl walked into the room.

The two had approached with their own meats which they had made for her to eat.

"....." Sunnie and her cubs all paused, looking up at them.

"This is...?" Sunnie asked.

"Meat," Karl said. "I prepared this for you. You should have more of it."

Maren blinked as she turned to stare at Ronan. The two of them simply shrugged as they stared at them again.

Sunnie smiled. "Thanks for your consideration. But I already had dinner tonight. Okay?"

"...." Karl and Zayn stared at each other. They guessed they were too busy trying to make the meat that it took so long and Sunnie had to eat.

Zayn said, "But... I guess it’s still early now. And since you’re pregnant, you should eat a lot of food. You should have this meat... it’s going to help a lot," Zayn explained.

Karl nodded. "Yes. And mine is healthy. I added some vegetables to it, so it’s going to help. You should have more of mine."

Zayn stared at him and then turned to say, "Mine looks more healthy. So you should consider having more of mine. It’s a better option."

And the two of them broke into another session of bickering over who had the better meat prepared.

Sunnie and the little ones stared and watched them. They stared at each other, smiled, and shook their heads as they continued watching them again.

After a while, Sunnie finally said, "Don’t worry. I don’t need meat tonight. Maybe tomorrow I will, okay?"

Zayn and Karl stared at her. "But it’s..."

"I’m fine. Really," she explained with a smile.

Zayn and Karl stared at each other. They guessed neither of them won tonight.

"Yes, so..." Maren got up to her feet and began pushing the two of them out of the cave room with all the strength she had. "Leave us alone. Mum is telling us an interesting story right now. Come back later when we’re done listening!"

Ronan and the twins nodded in agreement as they got up and joined in pushing them away. "Yes. So leave now."

Soon, Karl and Zayn were standing outside the cave room with the meat in their hands. The kids had successfully kicked them out while they rushed back in to sit down and continue listening to the female’s stories.

Zayn and Karl stared at each other and stared at the cave behind them.

"Those little..." Zayn shook his head. "I can’t believe they kicked us out."

"I know right..." Karl sighed as they stared at their meat again. "Well, I guess we’ll have to go again."

---

Sunnie guessed her beast husbands came prepared. Because by the time she opened her eyes in the morning, Zayn and Karl were already in her room.

"...." She blinked as she stared at them. The two of them were sitting down close to her with smiles on their faces and a plate of grilled meat before them.

"....."

Sunnie slowly sat up and stared down at the meat they had prepared and then stared up at them.

Zayn and Karl smiled as Karl said, "Well, you said today, so we decided to come a bit earlier so you’d have something to eat early in the morning."

Zayn nodded. "Yes. The others are still preparing breakfast. So this should be early enough for you to have something to eat while you wait."

"....." Sunnie was speechless. She guessed they were just that dedicated.

"Well, I have to first wash up and then all... then I’ll have a taste." Sunnie was worried about how the meat would taste, so she was basically scared of having a taste now.

"You can definitely have a taste now," Karl said. "Eating first thing in the morning and then washing up is great! So you could definitely start off that way."

"...." Sunnie almost gasped. These two insisted she ate the two portions of meat since they were curious to know which was better.

But Sunnie didn’t think she was mentally prepared to even have one at all.

She had come up with excuses. She used all the possible excuses to drive them out. "I have a stomach ache. I think I have to go and..." She instantly got up, a hand over her stomach as she ran off.

"...." Zayn and Karl sat there watching her leave. They stared at the meat before them and then stared up at themselves.

"Is she okay?" Karl asked.

"We should go get her something to eat. Something healthy."

---

Sunnie guessed the excuse she used was a bad idea as well. Because it doubled the amount of things her two husbands brought her.

This time, they had gathered over a hundred fruits and brought them to Sunnie in her room.

Sunnie was shocked to see the load of fruits. She stared up at them in shock as she demanded, "And what’s all this?"

"You said you had some stomach issues. We figured it’d be because of some unhealthy meal. So we brought a lot of healthy fruits. You should definitely have a lot," he insisted.

"....." Sunnie was speechless. She stared at the pile of different fruits as she stared at them. "All of them?"

"Yes. We couldn’t pick, so we got them all," Zayn explained.

Luna, who was standing close to Sunnie, stared up at the mountain of fruits before her as she smiled. "Lots of fruits!"

It didn’t end there. Sunnie was bombarded with a lot of things by her two beast husbands.

The two of them were basically obsessed with gathering everything they saw and bringing it to her. As long as they had a feeling that she might need something like that, they’d bring it all.

Sunnie couldn’t help but smile off the situation. The two husbands were trying their best to be good husbands and take care of her.

It was their first time being fathers, so they were rather bound to be dramatic about it all. But Sunnie guessed she only had to sit and watch them try in their own ways.

One night, before dinner, Zayn and Karl had finally brought forward the meat for Sunnie to try.

"Dinner is delayed. So you should certainly have this for now," Zayn insisted as Sunnie stared at the meat, shocked.

She genuinely thought she had done a good job avoiding these meats. And she thought that it had been eaten by everyone in the tribe without any left for her.

But little did she know that her persistent beast husbands had a lot more from where it came from.

She stared down at the meat as she smiled.

"Well, have some," Karl requested. Sunnie guessed she had run out of excuses now. She had no choice but to take the meat and have a bit at least.

As she ate, the two husbands stared at her. Karl and Zayn were curious to see how she’d react to it.

"How is it?" Karl asked as she tasted his own meat.

Sunnie almost shed tears. It was bad. It tasted terrible and burnt. She could feel her face stiffen as she took a bite.

But she couldn’t do anything. She had to force a smile as she ate it up as if it was nothing.

"It’s good... not so bad..." She smiled as she forced herself to eat and enjoy it. Karl smiled proudly as he folded his arms, feeling like a top chef.

"You should try mine. I’m sure it’s better," Zayn said confidently.

Sunnie was skeptical but decided to take a bite anyway. And it was bad. Worse than the first. She almost cried while chewing on it but had to force a smile as if it was nothing.

"So... how is it? Great?" Zayn was hopeful.

Sunnie couldn’t crush their hopes. She instantly smiled as she said, "Yes... it wasn’t bad..." Struggling to hold back the tears running down her eyes.

Karl and Zayn smiled proudly as they said, "I knew it would be great. Mine is definitely better," Zayn said.

Karl turned to Sunnie. "Which is best?"

Sunnie was speechless. Both were bad. None was good. But she smiled as she said, "Well, both are good."

The other husbands, Zuna, Zukka, Elza, and Little Black sat at a distance watching while struggling not to smile.

"Poor Sunnie. She’s being bombarded with meals that she doesn’t want to taste," Zuna said.

"The two are terrible at cooking. I’m sure that tasted like hell," Luka said. "Even I couldn’t teach them."

Eris smiled. "Are you sure we shouldn’t go and save her or something?"

They watched as Luna ran up to sit close to Sunnie. Luna turned and stared at the meat. Curious, she reached out to have a taste of both.

Zayn and Karl stared curiously to see what the cub would say about their cooking and which she would like better.

As Luna tasted the two at the same time, she squeezed her face as she instantly spat them out.

"...." Zayn and Karl were speechless as Luna stared up at the two of them.

With a firm expression, Luna said, "Honestly, I think the two of you should not try cooking again."

"...."
