Chapter 2468 2468: Wanting Them Dead
This question made Luo Ziling a bit embarrassed; he didn’t know how to explain his relationship with Chen Xiaoyi.
Seeing Luo Ziling’s awkward expression and his hesitation, Ling Ruonan roughly understood the situation and didn’t ask further.
“I know what you’re thinking. We’ll talk about this when we visit your grandparents together,” Ling Ruonan looked at Luo Ziling with a complex expression. “After you return, you need to visit your Great Grandfather, your grandfather, and Yang Yuanshan. Over a month has passed without providing treatment and care to them; it’s time to catch up. Also, take the opportunity to share your thoughts with them.”
“I understand!” Ling Ruonan didn’t press on Chen Xiaoyi’s matter, making Luo Ziling feel relieved.
Early the next morning, Luo Ziling and Luo Liansheng went to the school together. After spending the morning dealing with lab matters and new subject teaching, they had everything sorted out.
After lunch, Luo Ziling took a nap for over half an hour. Upon waking, he instructed Dong Xiaowan and Wang Hanying on some matters.
After giving instructions, Luo Ziling prepared to go to Ling Jinhua’s place.
Luo Liansheng stayed at the school to continue organizing things.
As Luo Ziling was about to leave, Luo Liansheng advised him to speak more boldly. If Ling Jinhua got angry, he should tell him so he could go and question Old Ling.
Luo Ziling naturally agreed.
Upon arriving at the Ling Family Old Mansion, Luo Ziling unexpectedly saw Huang Chen there.
Huang Chen had already taken a position in the war zone. His matters were being handled by other staff, and Luo Ziling planned to catch up with Huang Chen in a few days but didn’t expect to meet him here.
Seeing Luo Ziling arrive, Huang Chen was a bit surprised too.
He approached and shook hands with Luo Ziling, providing an explanation.
“I came today to visit the chief. I heard from the staff that the chief has lost his temper a few times recently and seems unwell, so I took the time to come and check.”
“Is he sick?” Luo Ziling was a bit surprised. “Or did people around him not take good care of him?”
“Just a minor ailment, probably because you haven’t been around to provide treatment for too long,” Huang Chen smiled. “I was planning to call you when returning to ask about the situation and request your help with treatment and care. Didn’t expect you’d come right now.”
“In that case, I’ll go in and have a look first!”
Huang Chen nodded and accompanied Luo Ziling inside.
Ling Jinhua had just woken up from his nap and was sitting in the living room eating fruit. Seeing Luo Ziling walk in, he seemed slightly surprised.
“You’ve finally decided to come back?” he remarked casually when Luo Ziling greeted him.
“The Northwest is really cool. If no one bothers you, it’s a great place to escape the heat. Also, in such a remote area, you can do whatever you want.”
These words made Huang Chen’s expression change slightly.
It seemed Luo Ziling was holding some resentment.
Ling Jinhua looked up at Luo Ziling without saying anything.
“I heard Great Grandfather hasn’t been feeling well the past few days. After sorting things out upon returning, I quickly came to check,” Luo Ziling put down his medical equipment and sat next to Ling Jinhua, smiling. “The trip to Tianshan to gather herbs was quite fruitful; I found many precious medicinal ingredients. However, we haven’t processed the herbs yet. In a couple of days, once they’re processed, we’ll bring them to you. Today, I’ll examine you and, based on your physical condition, prepare suitable medicines for you. This way, the effect can be maximized.”
“You all are very thoughtful!” Ling Jinhua’s expression improved slightly. “Please examine me first. During this over-a-month summer break, I got heatstroke several times. My sleep hasn’t been good these days, and I feel a bit lethargic.”
“Today’s treatment will definitely restore your energy!” Luo Ziling said as he gestured for Ling Jinhua to give him his hand.
Ling Jinhua didn’t resist and handed his hand to Luo Ziling.
After checking Ling Jinhua’s pulse and examining other aspects of his condition, Luo Ziling took out silver needles.
After more than half an hour of treatment, both Luo Ziling and Ling Jinhua were sweating.
Taking the towel handed by Huang Chen to wipe his sweat, Luo Ziling instructed the staff to help wipe Ling Jinhua’s sweat and prevent him from catching a cold.
Since he had just napped and Luo Ziling hadn’t hypnotized him, Ling Jinhua didn’t feel drowsy after the treatment, but instead looked refreshed due to sweating.
“I feel much better!” Ling Jinhua smiled.
Huang Chen knew Luo Ziling wanted to discuss matters with Ling Jinhua, so he tactfully excused himself, saying he had other tasks to attend to.
Luo Ziling escorted Huang Chen out.
He told Huang Chen to let his mother come over soon so that he could provide further treatment for her.
Autumn is approaching; it’s time to consolidate the effects.
Huang Chen agreed and thanked him.
Upon returning to the room, Ling Jinhua asked Luo Ziling to join him in the study.
After tea, snacks, and fruit were served by the staff, they left.
“Huang Chen heading to the war zone is more promising than staying by my side,” Ling Jinhua said slowly while sipping tea. “Being here, even though many people know him, moving further up is difficult due to rank limits. Moreover, I am already retired.”
Luo Ziling didn’t know the purpose behind Ling Jinhua explaining this but had to respond: “I think Secretary Huang, no, he should be called Exective Officer Huang now. His abilities are excellent, and having been by your side for so many years, he has quite a reputation. Going to the war zone, as long as he does well, he’ll certainly gain everyone’s recognition. In the military, leading troops is essential.”
Ling Jinhua didn’t say much; he simply nodded lightly.
Luo Ziling proactively talked about his experiences in the Northwest. He briefly shared what he encountered and then asked Ling Jinhua: “Great Grandfather, what do you think will be the final outcome of this event?”
Ling Jinhua countered by asking Luo Ziling: “What is the result you most hope for?”
“Of course, I hope they’re all dead,” Luo Ziling said straightforwardly. “If they all die, no one would target me anymore. At least, all those potential enemies would be gone.”
“So, are you planning to make them die?” Ling Jinhua looked at Luo Ziling with a half-smiling, half-serious expression.
His demeanor didn’t resemble that of an elderly person or a figure powerful enough to shake Huaxia with a single step. He seemed rather childlike. Such a serious question expressed with this look made for a peculiar sight.
Luo Ziling glanced at Ling Jinhua, not pondering his words’ meaning deeply, and said directly: “Wanting them dead and planning to make them die are completely different concepts. Often, such thoughts are just impulsive moments—just like when arguing with someone close, there’s sometimes an impulse to kill them. There’s even a legal term for impulse killing.”
Ling Jinhua gazed at Luo Ziling with a different look but didn’t say anything immediately.
