Chapter 2467 2467: You're Getting Smarter
The flight took off an hour late, but miraculously, it only arrived ten minutes later than scheduled.
“The plane was speeding in the sky!” Luo Ziling joked, then asked Yang Qingyin next to him, “Do you feel like you’re longing to return home?”
“Not really!” Yang Qingyin smiled, “Actually, I kind of don’t want to go back!”
“No way? Are you planning to become a permanent resident of Qingfeng Village?”
“My mom told me that my dad was quite upset about this trip of mine. Once I get back, there might be another argument, which is why I don’t really want to return.” Yang Qingyin smiled helplessly, “I think my dad and grandpa are becoming more and more at odds.”
“Try to persuade your dad as much as you and your mom can!” Luo Ziling also smiled wryly, “Why do people of the same generation in the Yang Family and Ling Family, like your dad and my mom’s brother, behave this way?”
“Perhaps they think alike.”
“Try to change their minds as best as you can, or find a way to make them face some setbacks!”
Yang Qingyin glanced at Luo Ziling, didn’t say much, and just gently nodded.
The flight arrived in Yanjing exactly at five in the afternoon.
Ling Ruonan personally went to the airport to welcome back the group.
Since Luo Liansheng was there, it wasn’t excessive for Ling Ruonan to personally welcome them.
“You must be tired.” Upon seeing Luo Ziling and Luo Liansheng coming out of the exit, Ling Ruonan smiled and greeted them, “I’ve booked a few tables for dinner; let’s all have a simple meal together.”
Ling Ruonan had already booked the dinner and personally invited everyone to dinner, so no one felt comfortable refusing.
Ling Ruonan also arranged a big bus to bring along those accompanying them.
After the lively dinner, everyone went their separate ways.
With the school term starting soon, Dong Xiaowan and Wang Hanying took their companions back to school to prepare for the opening.
The others each returned home.
Having been away from home for so long, both Yang Qingyin and Dai Shulan had to first return home.
Luo Yuqing also planned to go back to check on her mother.
She brought numerous gifts for Chen Qiaoyu and also wanted to discuss the Chen Family matters with her mother.
After all, Chen Qiaoyu is a daughter of the Chen Family, the sister of Chen Yihe and Chen Yiping.
Luo Ziling returned home with Luo Liansheng and Ling Ruonan.
Although it was already the end of August, the weather in Yanjing remained very hot.
The lowest temperature today was thirty degrees, and the highest was actually forty degrees.
Even at this time, it still felt sweltering.
Though there was air conditioning at the dining place and in the car, and the home’s temperature was suitable, everyone was still sweating.
Luo Liansheng went to take a shower first, while Luo Ziling and Ling Ruonan sat in the living room to chat.
“Mom, what’s the situation now?” Luo Ziling proactively asked about things.
“The Chen Family probably pushed Chen Yining out as the scapegoat.” Ling Ruonan sighed slightly and said, “Chen Ruchang did this, making his oldest son bear the blame, which surprised many people.”
“Maybe Chen Ruchang thinks his second son is more capable than his eldest, or perhaps he believes the second son still has a son while the eldest only has a daughter.” Luo Ziling smiled, “I guess Chen Yining won’t willingly take the blame; he’ll have emotions, and might not take all the blame.”
“Since Chen Ruchang let him take the blame, he also did, and he should take on all the charges.” Ling Ruonan also smiled, “There must be promises and a trade of interests involved.”
“For sure!”
“Currently, it’s only a disciplinary punishment; criminal liabilities require further investigation by judicial authorities, then transfer to the inspector and court for trial.” Ling Ruonan explained the situation briefly.
Chen Yining has now been suspended from all positions and given a major demerit within D.
His administrative duties are also recommended for dismissal, but it must wait for certain meetings to review and approve before it takes effect.
“This is the normal procedure. Administrative positions aren’t so easily dismissed, and whether he’ll ultimately face criminal charges also depends on everyone’s opinions.” Ling Ruonan spoke softly, “If everyone wants Chen Yining to face harsher punishment, then he definitely won’t escape criminal charges and could spend a few years or even more in prison. Of course, this assumes Chen Ruchang is willing to accept such a result, and others must also demand Chen Yining to face this. Moreover, there must be corresponding charges and evidence.”
“Will those involved from the lower rungs of the Chen Family be heavily punished?”
“That’s certain!” Luo Ziling seemed unconcerned about what responsibility Chen Yining would face, which slightly surprised Ling Ruonan.
“Actually, the punishment Chen Yining receives is more symbolic than of real consequence, right?” Luo Ziling asked Ling Ruonan.
Ling Ruonan didn’t deny it: “To a certain extent, it does seem like that.”
“It might be better to keep Chen Yining from going to prison than to let him lose his freedom!” Luo Ziling squinted his eyes, speaking slyly: “Being forced to take the blame, Chen Yining certainly feels a hundred unwillingness, with resentment toward his father and brother. If he loses his freedom in prison, that resentment would have to be bottled up inside him. If he maintains his freedom, and often sees his father and brother, he, having become quite a failure, would feel even more imbalanced whenever he sees them.”
Ling Ruonan immediately understood Luo Ziling’s point and gently nodded: “Perhaps it’s indeed better this way.”
Chen Yining continues living within the Chen Family but has lost everything, going from a high official to “an ordinary man.” When he sees his still high-ranking father and brother Chen Yijing, and notices their lives remain nearly unchanged, he certainly feels imbalance inside.
If Chen Ruchang passes away, Chen Yining surely won’t be content with Chen Yijing taking everything.
From this perspective, it’s better not to let Chen Yining lose his freedom in prison.
If he goes to prison, and Chen Ruchang dies while he’s in, then Chen Yijing faces no challenge, easily taking over the Chen Family. With Chen Yijing’s competence and means, the Chen Family might even thrive under his leadership, giving Chen Yihe and Chen Yiping no chances. If Chen Ruchang dies while Chen Yining hasn’t lost his freedom, then surely a brotherly conflict arises.
Should Chen Yining be unable to match Chen Yijing, he might seek outside help.
Leveraging their sibling rivalry could indeed completely lead to the downfall of the Chen Family—this seems relatively easy to achieve.
Having understood these ideas, Ling Ruonan also agreed with what Luo Ziling said.
She was quite pleased that her son could consider such matters.
“Well said.” She didn’t hesitate in her praise, complimenting Luo Ziling directly: “You’re becoming more and more thoughtful, actually considering these things.”
Luo Ziling sighed and shared about Chen Xiaoyi calling him for help.
After sharing, he further said: “I think that if the Chen Family utterly declines, letting her return to clean up the mess is not a bad option either.”
Ling Ruonan looked at Luo Ziling with surprise, then quietly asked: “What exactly is the relationship between you two?”
