The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 2462 2462: Hope They Die a Miserable Death

Ling Ruonan’s reaction was quite satisfying to Ling Mingrui.

He didn’t say it directly, but Ling Ruonan figured it out. This keen observation naturally pleased Ling Mingrui.

“If Chen Ruchang were to sacrifice his own son, it would definitely be Chen Yining!” Ling Ruonan shared her speculation, “In terms of strategy and scheming, Chen Yining is far inferior to Chen Yijing.”

Ling Mingrui nodded lightly.

“Let’s keep a close watch on how the situation unfolds!” Ling Mingrui said calmly, “Lin Zeping might not express a clear opinion on this matter, while the others have indicated a desire to severely punish the Chen Family members.”

Ling Mingrui’s words made Ling Ruonan realize that the others were indeed ruthless, planning to ruin both Chen Yining and Chen Yijing’s futures. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have unearthed the brothers’ misdeeds.

“Will they just give up and go all out?” Ling Ruonan voiced her concern, “Will they expose everything, regardless of evidence? That’s not their style.”

“If so, then even Chen Ruchang wouldn’t be able to save himself,” Ling Mingrui sneered, “He wouldn’t be so foolish unless he’d lost his mind. The others wouldn’t act so impulsively either; it might just be a big show with little effect.”

Ling Ruonan nodded slightly but asked nothing further.

After a moment of silence, Ling Mingrui said again, “During this period, don’t have any contact with the Chen Family members. Use intermediaries for communication to avoid trouble.”

“I understand!” Ling Ruonan quickly nodded in agreement.

“Also, have Xusheng deliver a report on Dragon Rise’s recent operations in the Northwest.”

Ling Mingrui’s instructions made Ling Ruonan’s heart skip a beat, but she still asked nothing, just nodded in agreement.

“I hope they can return safely after entering Tianshan and harvest more precious herbs. As one grows older, the body needs more nourishment!” Ling Mingrui finally smiled as he said this, “Your grandfather’s health also depends on their continuous help, or else everyone would be worried about him.”

Ling Ruonan replied softly, “They should be back by the end of August. It’s not easy going there, and every year these few months are the best time for gathering herbs. After all, many precious herbs grow above the snow line.”

“Go home and rest early!” Having said almost everything that needed to be said, there were some things Ling Mingrui didn’t want to discuss with Ling Ruonan.

“Then I’ll head back first!” Ling Ruonan immediately got up to say goodbye.

As Ling Ruonan left, Wu Yanning also departed.

The sisters-in-law left the courtyard together.

Wu Yanning held Ling Ruonan’s arm and whispered, “Ruonan, you know your brother’s temper, don’t take today’s events too seriously. Let’s work together and try to change Zhengping’s mind. If I learn anything, I’ll reach out to you. As mothers, none of us want trouble for our sons. You’re no different, and neither am I. After Haining has spent time with Ziling, he’s changed a lot. I plan to have Haining work with Ziling again after he returns, and I just spoke to Mom about it, she agreed.”

“Let’s talk about it when they come back!” Ling Ruonan didn’t immediately agree to anything.

Wu Yanning nodded and added, “We’ll try our best to handle matters well and prevent tragedies from happening.”

Ling Ruonan nodded slightly.

Wu Yanning didn’t leave immediately but got in the car with Ling Ruonan, and the two talked inside.

Wu Yanning confessed to Ling Ruonan about her past feelings for Luo Xusheng during her younger days and told her that she still held feelings for Luo Xusheng. Because of this, she had a special affection for Luo Ziling.

No matter what, she hoped nothing would happen to Luo Ziling and likewise wished happiness and fulfillment for Luo Xusheng and Ling Ruonan.

Wu Yanning’s honesty surprised Ling Ruonan.

However, she didn’t express much about this matter.

She only said that the past was long gone; their children were now around the same age as they once were, and there wasn’t much left to dwell on.

Wu Yanning asked Ling Ruonan about her thoughts on Luo Ziling’s marriage. Whether she wanted Ouyang Feifei to marry into the Luo Family or was open to letting Luo Ziling be with Yang Qingyin, giving the young ones the freedom to choose while also satisfying the elders.

“It seems the Yang and Ling families are inclined towards an alliance,” Wu Yanning shared her speculation.

“I don’t want the tragedy of our past to repeat itself on my son,” Ling Ruonan said with a bitter smile, “Therefore, I plan not to interfere in Ziling’s marriage. I’ll let him choose for himself. No matter whom he chooses, I’ll willingly be her mother-in-law.”

“Who knows, you might end up with a lot of daughters-in-law!” Wu Yanning joked, “Ziling is so outstanding, with so many girls who like him. Some might even be willing to be with him without a title.”

“I don’t want that to happen!” Ling Ruonan shook her head in refusal, “I hope he achieves significant success in the future, and his private life shouldn’t affect his prospects.”

“True enough!” Wu Yanning didn’t comment further.

After chatting for a while, the sisters-in-law went their separate ways home.

What surprised Ling Ruonan was that when she got home, she saw Luo Xusheng had already returned.

The husband and wife secluded themselves in their room to discuss recent events and important matters.

After hearing Ling Ruonan’s recount of Ling Mingrui’s instructions, Luo Xusheng understood what was going on.

He told Ling Ruonan he knew how to handle the situation.

However, he also told Ling Ruonan that if the evidence was too obvious, it would seem fake, so it was better to remain ambiguous. After all, those were specialized personnel continuously executing secret missions, and easily divulging these important and confidential matters wasn’t realistic.

Ling Ruonan didn’t push for more, leaving Luo Xusheng to handle it as he saw fit.

“How’s Ling’er’s planning going?” Finally, Luo Xusheng asked Ling Ruonan about it.

“Wuyue has successfully completed that task; it’s just unclear what the outcome will be.” Ling Ruonan naturally didn’t hide it from Luo Xusheng. After briefly explaining, she added, “This matter doesn’t have many successful precedents, so who knows what the final result will be. If Chen Ruchang’s condition worsens and he quickly passes away, we can be at ease!”

“The Chen Family is utterly detestable,” Luo Xusheng said resentfully, “Not only did they cause my mother’s death, but they also tried to harm my son. We won’t let them get away with this.”

“They won’t die a good death!” Ling Ruonan replied with certainty.

Luo Xusheng didn’t leave until around midnight.

After he left, Ling Ruonan went to sleep.

However, just as she drifted off, she was awakened by a phone call.

“Chen Hang and Huang Guoliang have recanted?” The news from the other end of the line greatly surprised Ling Ruonan.
