The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 2463 2463: Sacrificing Chen Yining

Very soon, Ling Ruonan figured out what was really going on.

When the task force interrogated Chen Hang and Huang Guoliang, they loudly proclaimed their innocence, saying they had confessed under torture.

Under severe coercion, they were forced to admit to those things.

Actually, they were wronged; they weren’t involved in anything, and were coerced into confessing after being captured.

They denied participating in these events and even more so denied being instructed by Chen Ruchang, Chen Yijing, or Chen Yining to do such things.

After hearing the reports from her subordinates, Ling Ruonan thought it over and ultimately didn’t dwell on it, and went to sleep peacefully.

The next morning, she called Ling Mingrui to explain the situation.

Ling Mingrui chuckled and didn’t take it seriously either: “The Chen Family is really becoming increasingly incompetent; they even managed to pull off something like this. Finding out who incited these two to recant is surely easier than investigating other matters. This is like having a hidden stash here!”

Ling Ruonan had similar thoughts. After hearing Ling Mingrui say this, she didn’t worry anymore.

The reversal of testimony by several key witnesses, who repeatedly cried injustice, naturally alarmed more people.

Wu Dongfang and his team quickly got involved in the matter.

They examined the injuries on Chen Hang and Huang Guoliang’s bodies and found no large old injuries; the significant ones appeared in the past few days. In other words, their injuries occurred recently.

Chen Hang and Huang Guoliang were already in custody, watched day and night, making self-harm difficult, let alone suffering serious injuries.

This could only mean someone deliberately injured them to fabricate results of coercion.

There might be injuries only if they had internal help.

When Luo Ziling and his people interrogated Chen Hang and Huang Guoliang, they didn’t force them to confess under torture. Rather, they used medical techniques, stimulating acupuncture points to make them feel worse than death, prompting them to confess obediently. This technique wouldn’t leave marks inside the body.

However, even doctors wouldn’t believe such an explanation, let alone investigators?

Upon discovering anomalies, the task force immediately began tracking down possible insiders.

Meanwhile, Wu Dongfang’s subordinates quickly interrogated the two drone-assassins captured by Luo Ziling.

These two assassins were seriously injured; the man’s manhood was destroyed by Luo Ziling, though his life wasn’t in danger.

They had previously confessed that everything was directed by Huang Guoliang. Since they had already confessed, they didn’t see the point in taking the fall for anyone. Therefore, they maintained their original confession. Wu Dongfang’s subordinates and task force members had them confront Huang Guoliang. Although Huang Guoliang repeatedly denied it, these two provided many facts. The task force then used additional witness and material evidence, which ultimately caused Huang Guoliang to break down completely, and he confessed more about who asked them to recant and the benefits they were promised afterward.

The additional witness and material evidence provided by Luo Ziling and Ling Ruonan successfully exposed Chen Hang’s inconsistencies when he testified.

In the end, Chen Hang also broke down.

Although he still refused to admit being instructed by Chen Yining to send personnel to the Northwest to assassinate Luo Ziling, Ling Ruonan, and Luo Liansheng, there was no further need to deny the facts.

Following the leads from their confessions, the task force traced it back to a person involved in the investigation who was leaking information to the Chen Family and orchestrating Chen Hang and Huang Guoliang’s recantations. Unfortunately, when they found this person, he was already dead.

The task force and police immediately launched an investigation, but unfortunately, the final result was that the person had committed suicide, not murder.

Though the trail seemed “cut off” like this, it didn’t hinder the task force or Wu Dongfang’s subordinates.

They quickly identified irregularities by reviewing this person’s communications and movements before their death.

The evidence pointed to Chen Yining.

Upon receiving these reports, Ling Ruonan chuckled, “The Chen Family is indeed on a path of self-destruction!”

Ling Ruonan quickly obtained more information from Ling Mingrui.

Wu Dongfang went directly to Chen Ruchang.

What they discussed was unclear to outsiders, but many indications showed that Chen Ruchang was preparing to throw Chen Yining under the bus to take all the blame.

“What Chen Yining did has greatly disappointed Chen Ruchang, and plus, he no longer has a son. Although Chen Yijing’s son, Chen Jiahu, made a mistake, he can come out soon and still manage the Chen Family affairs in the future, so Chen Ruchang chose to protect Chen Yijing and sacrifice Chen Yining.” This was what Ling Mingrui directly told Ling Ruonan.

“A most inhumane imperial family!” Ling Ruonan couldn’t help but think of this phrase.

Although the Ling Family, Yang Family, Chen Family, and Fang Family aren’t imperial families, they aren’t much different.

In these big clans, when faced with issues, they always consider their interests first.

The relationship between father and son isn’t so important, and the affection between siblings can also be buried in the name of interest.

The Chen Family is like that, and so is the Ling Family, with the Yang Family and Fang Family in similar situations.

Ling Ruonan felt a bit sentimental.

She wondered, if the Ling Family encountered such a matter, who would Ling Mingrui, as a father, sacrifice?

In early August, the task force’s preliminary investigation results finally emerged.

The assassination attempt in the Northwest was orchestrated solely by Chen Yining.

As a senior government official, Chen Yining planned an assassination due to personal vendettas, which severely violated organizational discipline and law.

Additionally, Chen Yining violated many disciplinary rules during his tenure, prompting the organization to launch an investigation into him.

The final investigation results would be publicly announced in an official notification.

Subsequently, Chen Yining’s current position within D was revoked, and a joint investigation by the disciplinary committee and the judicial authorities was initiated.

Once it was officially announced that Chen Yining was involved in the Northwest assassination case, he vanished from the public eye.

Many people were curious about how Chen Yining would be sentenced, and therefore tried various ways to gather information, especially those with intricate connections to these established families. They understood that the final outcome might significantly impact their prospects and future.

By late August, the actual results of the investigation were available.

Chen Yining confessed to the crimes he committed and stated that all of it was his personal action and had nothing to do with others.

He did it due to the sudden death of his son.

He suspected that his son Chen Jiahu’s death was related to Luo Ziling and Ling Ruonan, believing they caused Chen Jiahu’s death, which drove him to seek revenge. Now he realizes his mistakes, acknowledging the many misunderstandings he made over the years, betraying the organization’s trust and cultivation.

He pledged to learn from this, accept the organization’s punishment, and undergo reform.
