The Villainess Is My Cute Daughter
Chapter 457: Orichalcum Granite
The Chief chuckled. "Well, the liquid mana comes directly from the rain."
Adrian raised an eyebrow. "Rain? What do you exactly mean?"
"Here is the thing," the Chief explained. "You need special, unique containers. They are basically made with a very specific, rare type of rock. It’s pretty rare, so it’s very valuable but you can also find this rock outside this island. You strictly need that specific rock to successfully capture the magical rainwater."
The Chief pointed at the sky.
"When you capture this rainwater with that specific stone, it basically permanently retains the magical properties of the water. If the rainwater touches the ground or anything else, all of the infused mana is instantly dispersed into the atmosphere. The exact moment the mana is dispersed into the atmosphere, it completely disappears, almost like it is being absorbed by something. This entire place just defies the natural magical rules of this world."
Hearing this, Adrian frowned.
"Wait. If this entire place actively defies the natural rules of this world... thinking back to exactly what you said before. The fact that only the ’True God’ can permanently tamper with the rules of the world. Doesn’t that mean that..."
Before he could even finish his thought, the Chief chuckled darkly.
"Yes. Exactly. That is exactly why, when we found out about this place. We made up our minds to take over this place, and now it is in our hands. We still haven’t officially found out the actual root cause of the anomaly, but you just told me that there is a Dungeon somewhere here."
Adrian nodded slowly. "Yeah, there is a massive Dungeon actively projecting a domain. So this specific Dungeon has the unique ability to temporarily or permanently change the magical properties of this entire location. In fact, it has basically changed the laws of mana here."
He crossed his arms.
"Though, you will have to give me more details on exactly what extent you Angels and Demons can bend the rules. You did say that you can temporarily change things, and I just want to know exactly how temporary it actually is."
"Yeah, we will talk about that after dinner," the Chief said. "For now, just enjoy the camp."
"Sure," Adrian nodded. "But when exactly will I be able to access this liquid mana?"
"It rains once every few days," the Chief shrugged. "There is no structured rainy season here, and it actually rains pretty randomly. But it rains at least once per week. There were times where it rained every single day, but the least amount of rain we saw was once a week."
Adrian nodded. "Okay then. Can you show me the stone you talked about?"
"Yeah sure," the Chief nodded. "It’s right inside my hut. Look over there."
Adrian peeped inside the doorway. Through the dim candlelight, he saw something that looked like a massive stone mortar used for crushing spices and other things, but it was incredibly big and wide.
He pointed at it. "Is that the one?"
The guy nodded.
"Can I take it to inspect?"
"Sure, take it."
Adrian walked in, picked up the incredibly huge stone bowl, and basically just sent it directly into his Dungeon.
’System, tell me exactly what this material is.’
[This specific material is Orichalcum Granite.]
’What the fuck is Orichalcum Granite?’ Adrian frowned. ’I already have access to pure Orichalcum from my Dungeon, right? Is this like a raw ore form? I have never heard of Orichalcum actually having a raw ore form. I read that it simply comes out purified.’
[Orichalcum Granite is a unique rock that has failed during the natural process of becoming pure Orichalcum. Under certain conditions while Orichalcum forms, the transformation is rendered incomplete because of other impurities that got trapped in between the molecules. So it could practically be considered an ore of sorts, but it is one which physically cannot be processed.]
’So you cannot process Orichalcum ore?’ Adrian asked.
[Negative. I can process it but currently, Orichalcum ore cannot be processed by anyone else. True Orichalcum needs to naturally come out in its raw, completely purified metallic form. The only way to logically process this ore is a theoretical method which absolutely no one can currently do. And that is to physically and magically separate the atoms one by one. It cannot be heat-treated, and you absolutely cannot use the exact same blacksmithing methods that you use for the other ores.]
’Okay then. So this Orichalcum Granite is basically a useless ore. But that aside... why does this exactly work? Tell me why this bowl works. Why is it miraculously able to stop the rainwater from actively dissipating its mana?’
[Orichalcum Granite’s natural properties have no value apart from the fact that it has the unique ability to both strongly attract ambient mana and keep it securely near it without actually absorbing the mana into itself.]
’So it basically just acts like a magnet that keeps mana near it?’ Adrian asked.
[Affirmative.]
’What about pure Orichalcum?’
[Pure Orichalcum absorbs the mana apart from attracting it. Pure Orichalcum has the unique magical ability to actively "breathe" mana. It can efficiently take mana in and push it out passively. But Orichalcum Granite already has some mana trapped inside its incomplete structure, and it cannot push that specific mana out. You also cannot push more mana in artificially. But it still permanently retains the property to attract mana like a really strong magnet.]
’So why?’ Adrian frowned deeply. ’Even if it can attract mana and stuff... why is the rest of the mana inside the regular rainwater disappearing into the atmosphere?’
[This entire continent is a massive Dungeon Zone. Dungeons are designed to absorb mana to grow. This specific area has been completely terraformed to strictly follow the Dungeon’s different rules, which seem to have been set up to fuel it’s growth.]
Adrian took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. "Okay, fine."
He thought for a second. ’Can you replicate this specific Orichalcum Granite material?’
[Affirmative.]
