Chapter 241: Chapter 241: Charm Fei Zhao 6

In the center of the Broken Bone Tribe’s altar stood a ferocious stone statue—the "God of Fertility" they worshipped.

Its belly was swollen high, as if gestating life.

Yet its hands were locked in a death grip around the necks of two young cubs, its posture twisted and cruel.

It symbolized the brutal culling required for a so-called pure bloodline.

The old chieftain was a withered, old male fox with a face full of tattoos. His eyelids drooped, revealing only slits of sinister eyes.

He sized up Su An’an. "Gu Xue’s bloodline? Hah! The daughter of that traitor dares to return?"

"Chieftain, did you know my mother?" Su An’an clutched her skirt, looking "timidly" at the old fox.

"Heh heh! I was your mother’s first Beast Husband."

The old fox’s face twisted like a demon’s as he recalled the shame of Gu Xue’s betrayal.

He waved his hand sharply and ordered in a grim tone:

"Take her to the female cave! Let her contribute to the tribe’s propagation. At least then her Holy Female Bloodline won’t go to waste."

Several tattooed male foxes immediately moved forward and roughly yanked Su An’an by the arm, their nails nearly digging into her flesh.

Meanwhile, Fei Zhao was chained by the neck. The heavy iron links scraped harshly against the ground as he was dragged toward the Slave Camp.

"Remember!"

The old chieftain walked up to Fei Zhao, sneering as he poked him in the face with his cane.

"Behave yourself here. If you dare to resist, you’ll never touch a single finger of your Female Master again for the rest of your life."

"You won’t even be allowed to see her from a distance."

Fei Zhao’s pupils instantly shrank to pinpricks. The tip of his tail went rigid behind him, but he brutally suppressed the surging killing intent.

He feigned a look of cowardly fear, allowing the guards to drag him away.

Only the bulging veins on his tightly clenched fists betrayed his emotions.

The female cave was dim and damp, with beads of water seeping from the stone walls.

The air was filled with a nauseating, bizarre stench—a mix of foul odors and herbs.

When Su An’an was shoved violently inside, she stumbled before steadying herself.

The sight before her made her heart sink.

Numb females sat or lay about.

Some lay on straw mats with vacant eyes, their bellies swollen high.

Bone tubes for drawing blood were inserted into their wrists, the blood slowly trickling through the tubes into clay pots in the corner.

Others knelt on the ground, mechanically and hollowly chanting prayers to a blurry totem on the stone wall: "May the God of Fertility bless us."

Still others were curled up in the shadows, their bodies covered in purple and blue bruises, yet they didn’t dare to even cry out, only biting their lips hard.

An elderly female suddenly crawled out from a pile of straw and grabbed Su An’an’s wrist, trembling.

Her knuckles were deformed, her skin like dry bark. "Gu Xue... my sister... is she still alive?"

Su An’an froze, then subtly gripped her hand back and lowered her voice.

"You knew my mother, Gu Xue?"

A flash of pain crossed the old female’s murky eyes, and tears streamed down her wrinkled face.

"I am her biological sister, Gu Yue."

"When she escaped back then, she promised she would come back for me..."

"Why did you come back? This... this place is Hell!"

She pointed a trembling finger at several females in the corner with grotesquely swollen abdomens, her voice barely a whisper.

"Look. Those are the ’unqualified’ females."

"Once their bloodlines are drained dry, they’ll be dragged away and turned into nutrients to feed the so-called ’pure offspring’."

Su An’an’s pupils contracted sharply as rage surged through her.

’The Broken Bone Tribe deserves to die a thousand deaths!’

Inside the Slave Camp, Fei Zhao was chained to a stone pillar with heavy iron links that dug deep into his flesh.

He was surrounded by gaunt, mixed-blood male beasts.

Their eyes were as numb as weathered stones, showing a flicker of fear only when a guard passed by.

A guard kicked Fei Zhao with a vicious grin. "Useless trash! Tonight, you’re going to the mines to dig for Night Crystals. If you don’t dig enough, you don’t eat!"

Fei Zhao kept his head down, his bangs hiding the coldness in his eyes, and gave a seemingly submissive grunt of acknowledgment.

He was waiting. Waiting for the moon to reach its zenith, for the gap when the guards changed shifts—the perfect time for a slaughter.

Late at night, Su An’an lay on her side on a pile of straw in a corner of the female cave.

Just then, the old female, Gu Yue, crept over. She took out a ghastly white bone fragment, polished smooth, from her clothes and secretly pressed it into Su An’an’s hand.

"This is something Gu Xue hid back then. It can temporarily block the God of Fertility’s senses, so the patrol beasts won’t detect anything unusual about you."

A faint glimmer of hope flickered in her murky eyes, and her voice was as soft as a mosquito’s buzz.

"Escape! Before they do anything to you. Don’t end up like us, rotting away in this place that never sees the light of day."

"There’s no need."

Su An’an tightened her grip on the bone fragment, a faint pink Divine Light glowing at her fingertips.

"I’m here to investigate the Mutated Bone Grass and the Rebel Army’s conspiracy."

The old female’s pupils contracted violently. Her withered fingers clutched Su An’an’s sleeve in a death grip.

"You’re a Divine Envoy? No wonder... no wonder the bloodline connection felt so strong!"

"Shh." Su An’an gripped her cold hand, her gaze as sharp as a knife.

"Tell me, what conspiracy is the Broken Bone Tribe hiding?"

The old female trembled as she pointed to a diagram of the moon phases on the stone wall. "Every full moon, they send the mixed-blood cubs into the forbidden land."

"They call it ’treatment,’ but they’re actually drawing their blood to water those Mutated Bone Grass plants, which are then given to the remnants of the Rebel Army."

Tears welled up in her murky eyes and streamed down her wrinkles. "Tonight is the full moon! Those children..."

Su An’an’s nails dug fiercely into her palm, the taste of blood spreading on her tongue. "Where is the forbidden land?"

"There’s a secret door at the base of the statue behind the altar."

Gu Yue suddenly began to cough violently. "But you must not go! There’s..."

"There’s what?" Su An’an gently patted her back, sending a stream of pink Divine Light into her withered body.

Gu Yue’s coughing subsided, but her voice was laced with a bone-deep terror.

"The curse of the God of Fertility!"

Su An’an sneered as her pink Divine Light flared, accompanied by silvery-white arcs of electricity.

"Perfect. Breaking curses is my specialty."

Late that night, Fei Zhao’s figure appeared silently outside the female cave.

His black-framed glasses lay shattered on the ground. A dark red Fox Fire swirled around his fingertips, forming an eerie ball of light.

"I’ve taken care of three patrol guards. There’s an hour-long gap between shifts."

Su An’an rose quickly, her fox ears perking up in vigilance.

"The forbidden land has more than just the Mutated Bone Grass. There’s also..."

"Remnants of the Rebel Army."

Fei Zhao’s tail suddenly tensed, its tip glinting coldly.

"I was on the outskirts of the Slave Camp just now and smelled the scent of Hong Chengtian’s old subordinates."

"Especially that one called Chi Ya. His stench of blood is as pungent as rotten fish."

Su An’an’s heart jolted. "Chi Ya? The communications officer who vanished without a trace after Hong Chengtian’s death?"

"When we were hunting for him, we clearly sealed all the borders. To think he was hiding in the Broken Bone Tribe all along."

"He won’t escape this time!"

Using the moonlight, Fei Zhao and Su An’an moved through the shadows of the altar and quickly found the inconspicuous secret door behind the statue.

An eerie green light seeped from the crack in the door, mixed with a thick, nauseating stench of blood.

"Stay close to me."

Fei Zhao waved his hand, turning the Phosphorus Powder into a thin mist that enveloped them both. He whispered a warning, "Don’t you dare try to be a hero!"
