BOOM—!
The Six-legged Lizard’s massive body slammed into the walls of the Graveyard Demon, causing the entire Mobile City to shudder violently. The vines on the wall trembled, and several thick branches snapped off from the impact, sending debris and dust raining down.
Gu Su stood on the wall, his feet planted firmly. His body swayed slightly with the shaking, but his eyes were fixed on the Fierce Beast below, unblinking.
With one of its hind legs broken, the lizard’s charging speed was greatly diminished. The force that could have sent the Mobile City flying was also reduced by more than half.
The Graveyard Demon only swayed a few times from the impact. A few more cracks appeared on the walls, and the stone spheres beneath the foundation emitted an ear-piercing grinding sound, but it remained stable overall.
But Gu Su knew this was only the beginning.
The lizard’s goal wasn’t to crash through the wall at all.
It braced itself with three of its five remaining legs, pressing its front two limbs against the Graveyard Demon’s wall. Its thick claws dug into the wall’s crevices, sharp talons piercing through the greyish-red mortar and vines to sink deep into the surface, pinning the Mobile City in place.
Its massive body stretched across the outside of the wall like a mountain of flesh, blocking half the view.
At the same time, the white Lizardmen on the lizard’s back began to move.
The ghastly white figures swarmed down from the lizard’s spine like a tide, clambering down its body. Some gripped the gaps between its scales, others stepped on their comrades’ shoulders, and some simply jumped down from on high.
They were densely packed, layer upon layer, taking advantage of the lizard pinning the wall to swarm madly upward.
The bone-spike spears in their hands glinted coldly in the morning light. The sharp, piercing hisses that erupted from their mouths rose and fell, enough to make one’s skin crawl.
"Magic Skeletons, attack."
Gu Su’s voice was cold and crisp.
The Magic Skeletons, already in formation on the wall, raised their hands in unison.
Red Ice stood at the forefront on the left, the deep blue, star-shaped mark between its brows glinting in the morning light.
He threw up his hands, and a dozen or so Ice Arrows whistled out, leaving faint white trails in the air as they precisely shot toward the front row of Lizardmen.
The moment the Ice Arrows pierced their bodies, a layer of white frost immediately covered their pale skin. The hit Lizardmen faltered; some fell directly off the lizard’s back, while others struggled to keep climbing, only to find their limbs had grown too stiff to obey.
Flame Bone stood in the center, his hands raised. An invisible wave spread out from him, enveloping the twenty-some Magic Skeletons behind him.
Under the enhancement of this wave, the Fireballs the Skeletons were conjuring suddenly surged, swelling from the size of a fist to the size of a bowl, their edges glowing with a strange golden trim.
Over twenty Fireballs smashed into the crowd of Lizardmen at once and exploded. Flames engulfed a dozen or so Lizardmen. Wreathed in fire, they screamed and fell from above, the flames on their bodies leaving trails of smoke in the air.
The Acid Wind Squad attacked from the right. Globs of eerie green Acidic Liquid smashed into the densest areas of Lizardmen. Wherever the acid splashed, the Lizardmen’s skin rapidly rotted, emitting plumes of acrid, green smoke.
Some clutched their faces and howled in agony as chunks of flesh sloughed off. Others struggled to keep climbing, but slid down limply after a few steps, revealing the stark white bone underneath. Still others were splashed in the eyes by the Acidic Liquid and instantly blinded, swinging their Long Spears wildly at their own companions.
The Lizardman offensive faltered.
But Gu Su didn’t stop. From his high vantage point, his gaze swept quickly over the Lizardmen that had been knocked down.
He quickly assessed them in his mind: the way they struggled as they fell, their reaction speed after being hit, the rate at which their wounds healed, and the movements of those who were lucky enough to reach the edge of the wall only to be beaten back.
"Level 2," he muttered to himself. "Not Elites, just ordinary Level 2 Lizardmen."
’Similar to that batch from the Purple Swamp Clan.’
Having ascertained the enemy’s strength, Gu Su instantly made a judgment. He raised his right hand and gave a decisive order:
"Five Ghosts, move out! Combat team, jump over and kill them all."
The moment he spoke, the Black Fog inside the Graveyard Demon churned.
Five plumes of Black Fog erupted, and five off-road vehicles shot out of the mist. They leaped directly over the wall, slamming onto the lizard’s spine. This was the Five Ghosts Combat Team, composed of two squads of Elite Skeleton Warriors, two squads of Walking Dead Warriors, and one squad of Magic Skeletons.
The vehicles carved an arc through the air. Before they even landed, their doors burst open, and over twenty ghastly white figures leaped out. Wielding Bone Swords and Warhammers, they pounced on the nearest group of Lizardmen.
The Magic Skeletons were protected within the formation, engaging the enemy at close range.
Immediately after, three vans also emerged from the Black Fog. The Suburban Wolf, Plague Corps, and Broken Bones squads landed on the lizard’s back simultaneously from three different directions.
The Suburban Wolf Squad spread out as soon as they landed. Twenty-five Skeleton Warriors brandished their Bone Swords, and wherever the glint of their blades flashed, Lizardmen fell.
The Walking Dead Warriors of the Plague Corps Squad swung their Warhammers. Each blow carried a faint aura of Corpse Poison, and any Lizardman struck would find their wounds quickly blackening and festering before they collapsed, twitching uncontrollably on the ground.
The Broken Bones Squad followed close behind, fighting while simultaneously picking up scattered bone fragments and fitting them into their own damaged skeletons. A cracked rib would be instantly mended; they’d stuff a new bone into a pierced shoulder blade and immediately resume fighting.
The lizard’s back instantly descended into a chaotic melee.
But Gu Su’s gaze did not linger there.
The Black Fog inside the walls churned once more. Seven White Bone Warhorses charged out of the mist, their hooves striking the wall with dull thuds.
They were seven Death Knights.
They sat upright on their White Bone Warhorses, each pieced together from seven or eight corpses. Holding recently replaced Bone Swords or metal weapons, they leaped straight down from the wall.
Their four hooves trod on air, tracing a ghastly white arc in the morning light before landing steadily on the lizard’s spine. As their hooves came down, they directly crushed the skulls of several Lizardmen who couldn’t dodge in time, the crisp crack of shattering bone mixing with the sounds of slaughter.
The Death Knights swept their Bone Swords and thrust their Long Spears, reaping several lives in an instant.
The lead Knight was already wearing well-fitted Leather Armor, and had even begun inlaying its surface with iron plates. His Bone Sword was also the sharpest of the lot. Clearly, a Death Knight’s status was determined by their individual combat prowess.
Just like that, he swung his sword, and three Lizardman heads flew into the air at once.
The seven figures fanned out across the lizard’s back like seven sharp daggers, cutting into the densest areas of Lizardmen from different directions.
One Death Knight was surrounded by five Lizardmen. He didn’t dodge or evade, instead spurring his warhorse forward. The warhorse sent two flying, his Bone Sword pierced the throat of the third, and a backswing severed the arm of the fourth. Before the fifth could even react, he had already kicked it off the lizard’s back. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Combat was just that direct and decisive.
