Chapter 187: Chapter 186: Battle Between Cities

——————————

A deafening BOOM sent violent tremors through the ground. Gu Su stood on the ramparts of the Graveyard Demon, his gaze locked on the direction of Defense Line 73, his pupils contracting sharply.

The scene was far more shocking than he had imagined.

A colossal dark silhouette burst from the ruins of Defense Line 73—it was a Six-legged Lizard, a full sixty-plus meters long.

The lizard’s entire body was covered in thick, dark brown scales that glinted with a cold, metallic sheen in the morning light. Each scale was the size of a man’s palm, clinging tightly to its form like solid armor.

Its six thick legs were like massive stone pillars supporting its enormous body. Each step slammed heavily into the ground, leaving a deep crater. With every dull boom, the tremors grew more intense.

A dense throng of white-skinned Lizardmen sat upon the lizard’s back.

They were agile, with deathly pale skin and eyes that glowed an eerie yellow-green. They clutched sharp Bone Spike Long Spears, letting out piercing shrieks. Their sheer numbers nearly covered the lizard’s entire spine. From a distance, they resembled white ants crawling over the Giant Beast, yet they exuded a heart-stopping ferocity.

Most frightening of all, the Six-legged Lizard was ramming a shattered, half-destroyed Mobile City forward with its body. It charged like an out-of-control truck, an unstoppable force on a rampage.

Gu Su squinted, finally making out the Mobile City’s details. It wasn’t a traditional fortress of steel, but a mobile platform built on the back of a giant crab over fifty meters wide.

A small, dense forest grew on the platform, its floor covered in a thick layer of black sludge as sticky as glue.

He could vaguely see countless tiny, dark shapes writhing beneath the sludge. It was the Undead Team, Lurking in the muck. Now, however, most of them were buried under rubble and splintered wood, completely still.

The Mobile City, brutally shoved forward by the Six-legged Lizard, was already half-destroyed. The giant crab’s body had been smashed to pieces, its hard shell riddled with cracks from which dark red fluid oozed, leaving long trails on the ground.

The small forest on the platform was a wreck of leaning trees, with broken branches and dead leaves scattered everywhere. A trail of debris—construction waste, shattered weapons, Undead skeletons, and other miscellaneous junk—was strewn across the ground in its wake, a scene of utter chaos. The air was thick with the nauseating stench of blood, rot, and damp earth.

Gu Su’s pupils contracted sharply.

’A Mobile City that large was destroyed... there’s no way my Graveyard Demon can withstand that.’

"Alice!" he roared at the Communication Puppet.

The puppet’s worn face had just opened its mouth when Alice’s voice came through, urgent and clear: "My lord, I have already planned a safe route! Grant the pilots authorization immediately and have them follow my coordination!"

Without a second thought, Gu Su spun around and dashed for the cockpit.

He shoved open the iron door and roared at the two Walking Dead sitting blankly in the pilot seats, "Did you hear Alice?! Move as she says, now!"

The two Walking Dead paused for a moment, then nodded.

The Walking Dead responsible for stable piloting gripped the main thrust lever, while the one for sharp turns placed its hands on the auxiliary lever. A hint of focus appeared in their two pairs of clouded eyes.

Alice’s voice streamed continuously from the Communication Puppet: "Left thirty-two degrees, full speed!

Yes, right now... Right fifteen degrees, decelerate!

Depression ahead, go around it... Accelerate, straight ahead!

Open the Jet Acceleration Ports! This is no time to conserve that little bit of energy. We need speed!"

The hands of the two Walking Dead moved swiftly over the levers.

The stone spheres beneath the Graveyard Demon began to roll frantically, a deep rumble rising from below. As if pushed by an invisible hand, the entire city carved a strange arc through the ruins.

The Six-legged Lizard charged over, pushing the immensely heavy Mobile City at an astonishing speed.

Its long tail dragged behind it, carving a deep trench in the ground as it swept past.

The white Lizardmen on its back raised their Long Spears, preparing to launch a boarding Attack at the moment of impact.

But under Alice’s guidance, the Graveyard Demon twisted nimbly.

The instant before the Giant Beast was about to collide, the Graveyard Demon swerved sharply to the right, its massive body sliding past, almost scraping against the lizard’s flank.

Gu Su could even see the cracks on the Giant Beast’s scales and smell the pungent stench coming off it.

BOOM—!

Unable to stop its momentum, the Six-legged Lizard crashed into the empty space behind the Graveyard Demon. The ruined Mobile City was flung away, tumbling several times across the ground before completely disintegrating.

The giant crab’s body slammed into the ground. Its remaining legs twitched a few times, then went still.

The remains of the forest and the sludge mixed together, covering the ground for hundreds of meters in every direction.

Gu Su steadied himself, not even pausing to catch his breath, and barked another order into the Communication Puppet: "All gunners, target that big lizard! Fire!"

The Vampire Gunner and Walking Dead Gunner, already on standby, sprang into action. The Vampire stood by the fueling-gun’s turret, hands on its sights, a glint shining in his crimson eyes. He took a deep breath and slammed the firing button.

BOOM—!

A shell wreathed in a faint, bloody light shrieked through the air and slammed precisely onto the Six-legged Lizard’s back.

The moment the shell detonated, crimson light flared. Shrapnel buried itself deep in the beast’s grayish-white scales, blasting open a bloody hole the size of a washbasin as flames erupted from the wound.

The lizard let out a heaven-shaking roar, its massive body shuddering violently.

The Walking Dead Gunner fired at the same moment.

It gripped the cannon’s breechblock with both hands, the spectral light in its eye sockets flickering as it muttered something under its breath.

This was the prelude to a Charged Attack. One second, two seconds, three seconds... The shell in its hands seemed to come to Life, the light at the cannon’s muzzle growing ever brighter.

"Fire!" it rasped.

Leaving a brilliant trail in its wake, the shell flew out and struck one of the Giant Beast’s rear leg joints dead-on.

The force of the explosion far surpassed a normal shell. The thick leg joint was blown apart on the spot, sending shards of bone and flesh flying. The lizard’s enormous body lost its balance and crashed to the ground, kicking up a massive cloud of dust.

The lizard’s head plunged directly into the ruins of the giant crab, and the collapsing remains of the Mobile City crashed right down on its head.

A huge swath of the white Lizardmen on its back was flung off. Some died on impact with the ground; others struggled to their feet, only to be pounced upon by newly arrived Bone Dogs.

But the Six-legged Lizard was not dead.

Instead, the Graveyard Demon’s Attack only seemed to enrage the lizard. After hauling itself up, it began to move straight toward the Graveyard Demon.

It picked up speed, faster and faster, until it finally broke into a run.
