Chapter 148: Chapter 147: Pre-Battle Preparations Complete

After a grueling seven or eight hours, Gu Su finally completed the Five Ghosts Spirit Communication Ceremony for all the vehicles.

He worked from dawn until dusk, his focus absolute, not daring to let up for a moment. He personally oversaw every detail, from mixing the materials and chanting the Spells to binding the vehicles with the Undead. He had clearly poured an immense amount of time and Spirit into the endeavor.

But his efforts were rewarded. A tired yet satisfied smile touched Gu Su’s lips as he looked at the rows of vehicles, all having completed the Spirit Communication and now radiating Undead Qi, with their newly bound Undead standing by.

The results were truly bountiful, far exceeding his initial expectations. None of his hard work had been in vain.

First, Gu Su merged the Suburban Wolf, Plague Corpses, and Broken Bones squads with three vans, completing three large-scale Five Ghosts Spirit Communication Ceremonies.

Unlike the smaller-scale bindings he had performed with the Elite Skeleton Warriors and the off-road vehicles, these large-scale Spirit Communication Ceremonies required more precise Yin Qi channeling and meticulous squad arrangements. Fortunately, Gu Su already had experience, and he had plenty of Yin Qi and materials on hand.

In the end, he managed to complete everything without a single mishap.

After the Ceremony, the vans’ transport capacity was enhanced on a whole new level. A single van, modified by the Spirit Communication, could now easily hold twenty-five Undead Soldiers.

This was far more than Gu Su had initially estimated.

Gu Su’s decision to have the three Minions—Suburban Wolf, Plague Corpses, and Broken Bones—each lead their respective squads in binding with the vans was a carefully considered one, perfectly tailored to their unique abilities.

Suburban Wolf’s core strength was its incredible movement speed and agility, making it excel at swift assaults and reconnaissance.

These Traits would be perfectly reflected in its bound van, drastically increasing the vehicle’s speed and making it maximally effective for both rapid reinforcements and emergency retreats.

Plague Corpses’ core Talent was its ability to charge into enemy formations and release toxins, depleting the enemy’s strength over a wide area. However, as everyone knew, the movement speed of a Walking Dead was pitifully slow.

Without vehicular transport, relying solely on their own speed, it would take them ages to reach the enemy lines, making it impossible to leverage their toxic advantage in a timely fashion.

As for the squad under Broken Bones, its members had the ability to restore their own Life by collecting the bones of their enemies. They were melee specialists, designed for close-quarters combat and needing to charge into the enemy’s ranks.

Therefore, having the three Minions—Suburban Wolf, Plague Corpses, and Broken Bones—and their respective squads prioritize binding with the vans was undoubtedly the most logical arrangement.

With the vans’ bindings complete, the remaining four off-road vehicles were next.

Gu Su assigned the other five Elite Skeleton Warriors to them, forming a new Five Ghosts Combat Team. He also assigned two five-man groups of Walking Dead Warriors and one group of five Magic Skeletons, creating a balanced mix of melee and ranged power that would allow each off-road vehicle to handle small-scale battles independently.

In fact, Gu Su had an even better arrangement in mind. If he hadn’t been limited to just four Corpse Witches—not enough to form a Five Ghosts Squad—he would have integrated them into the Spirit Communication vehicles as well. Their Magic abilities would have further enhanced the team’s ranged damage and support capabilities.

For now, however, both the Walking Dead Warriors and the Magic Skeletons were only at a basic level, with no enhancements to speak of.

Once the Graveyard Demon’s range expanded, Gu Su planned to upgrade a batch of Tombstones specifically for them. He would assign the Walking Dead Warriors and Magic Skeletons to these upgraded Tombstones, allowing them to be nourished and empowered to increase their strength.

They needed to reach the Elite Level at a minimum. Only then could the off-road vehicles be used to their full potential.

Compared to the straightforward assignments for the vans and off-road vehicles, binding the pickup trucks and heavy trucks required more careful consideration from Gu Su. He had to re-evaluate the Traits of each squad before finalizing the assignments.

All five pickup trucks were assigned to the Ash Squad. This created a perfect one-to-five ratio of one truck for every five Skeleton Warriors, flawlessly meeting the binding requirements for the Five Ghosts Spirit Communication.

Bone Ash’s core ability was Scavenging, and under his leadership, his squad members had acquired this Trait as well.

The pickups, now enhanced by Spirit Communication, were fast and agile. This perfectly suited the squad’s need to disembark quickly for Scavenging, grab what they could, and make a swift retreat, avoiding entanglement with enemies while gathering resources.

As for the two heavy trucks, Gu Su made more specialized assignments.

One truck was bound with the twenty-five Walking Dead under Push Tooth’s command. Leveraging the heavy truck’s massive cargo capacity and the Power of the Walking Dead, it was tasked with transporting heavy materials.

The other was assigned specifically to Healthy Body, another Walking Dead Boss, to be operated by him and his squad.

This arrangement would allow the heavy trucks to realize their full potential.

They could be loaded and deployed with incredible speed. Whether it was spoils of war, collected corpses, or any other tangible Resources, the heavy trucks could pack it all up and haul it away in an instant. This would drastically improve the efficiency of both supply transport and troop relocation—the true purpose of having heavy trucks.

After successfully completing the Five Ghosts Spirit Communication Ceremony for all the vehicles, Gu Su didn’t pause for a moment. He immediately ordered his Undead Soldiers to dismantle the platforms that had been built outside the walls for temporary vehicle storage.

These platforms had only ever been a temporary solution. Now that the vehicles had undergone the Spirit Communication and could freely cross between the Yin and Yang Realms, they no longer needed a dedicated place to be stored.

’Besides,’ he thought, ’we’re about to enter a battlefield. Leaving platforms on the outer walls would just give the enemy an easy way up, wouldn’t it?’

’I’m not an idiot. I’m not going to do something that stupid.’

Once the demolition was complete, Gu Su assigned the remaining uncommanded, scattered Undead to positions atop the walls. He tasked them with guard and Defense duty, filling the gaps in the perimeter and ensuring the Graveyard Demon’s security.

Only after all this was done did Gu Su finally let out a slow breath, his eyes scanning the scene before him.

The Undead sentries on the walls were in position. All preparations for battle were complete.

He nodded in satisfaction, then took out a Signal Flare, raised his arm, and fired it into the sky.

The Signal Flare shot across the sky, exploding high above in a brilliant burst of light. It was the pre-arranged signal, indicating that all of Gu Su’s preparations were complete and he was ready for battle.

The instant the signal was sent, a blinding white light suddenly descended from the sky, enveloping the entire Graveyard Demon.

Immediately after, Gu Su clearly felt his Graveyard Demon being drawn by an unseen force, slowly beginning to move toward an unknown location, accelerating as it went.

In the blink of an eye, the familiar Doomsday Plain was left far behind. Where there was once an empty vista, a pre-constructed battlefield slowly came into view before him.
