Chapter 144: Chapter 143: Pre-War Preparations

Gu Su returned to his Graveyard Demon, bringing with him the vehicles and equipment he had purchased from the processing plant.

The moment he reached the gates of the Graveyard Demon, he couldn’t help but frown. A dozen or so assorted vehicles, delivered by the processing plant’s Undead, were neatly parked at the entrance, and the sight gave him a budding headache.

Back at the processing plant, he had been single-mindedly focused on picking practical vehicles with large carrying capacities. His mind was filled with the need to shore up the Graveyard Demon’s shortcomings in transport and combat, but he had completely forgotten to consider the space available inside his base.

Now that all the vehicles had been delivered, Gu Su belatedly realized that the space inside his Graveyard Demon was limited. There was simply no way to fit the dozen or so SUVs, pickup trucks, vans, and heavy trucks inside.

If he tried to cram them in, it would not only obstruct movement within the Graveyard Demon but also risk damaging the internal facilities. The trouble wasn’t worth it.

Fortunately, Gu Su was not one to be indecisive. After the initial headache passed, he quickly made a decision.

He waved over his Undead Soldiers and ordered them to temporarily park all the vehicles in the open space outside the Graveyard Demon, to avoid blocking the entrance.

Once the vehicles were parked, Gu Su immediately summoned Tooth Bone and the others to help.

He planned to use the naturally growing vines and Strong Root Grass roots from the Graveyard Demon’s perimeter, along with some spare Wood, to build a temporary suspension rig. This would allow him to hang some of the smaller vehicles on the exterior walls of the Graveyard Demon.

Working with Tooth Bone and the others, they divided the labor clearly. Some pulled on tough vines, some dug up the thick roots of the Strong Root Grass, and others cut Wood to build supports. After a flurry of activity, the temporary suspension rig was complete.

Then, they worked together to carefully hoist several SUVs and pickup trucks onto the rig. The remaining vans and heavy trucks were left in the open space outside under temporary protective measures.

Once all the vehicles were properly stowed, Gu Su had Tooth Bone select the two SUVs in the best condition and personally pushed them inside the Graveyard Demon.

There was a reason he hadn’t asked the factory to modify the vehicles. For one, he trusted Tooth Bone’s craftsmanship. Since Tooth Bone was one of his own, Gu Su could freely share any ideas he had.

For another, he was more confident that the materials he had on hand could be used to create vehicles better suited to his specific needs.

He gave Tooth Bone clear instructions for the vehicle repairs and modifications, repeatedly emphasizing that the goal this time was to enhance their speed and ramming power. With that done, Gu Su turned and headed toward the Large Tombstone, summoning the entire squad of Elite Skeleton Warriors stationed there.

These ten Elite Skeleton Warriors were arguably the strongest fighting force Gu Su currently possessed.

Thanks to the Empty Tomb’s upgrade to a Large Tombstone, their Attack, Defense, and Life Force had all been significantly boosted, and they had also gained corresponding Skills and Talents.

More importantly, these ten Elite Skeleton Warriors had performed exceptionally well in the last game mission.

Five of them had escorted Bone Ash, breaking through numerous obstacles to successfully reach the giant turtle’s location and complete their escort mission.

The other five had stayed by Bone Forest’s side, participating in every battle against the Kobolds and using their formidable strength to slay a great number of enemies.

Tempered by the last mission, the Elite Skeleton Warriors’ Levels had risen steadily. The lowest among them was now Level 4, and their Attack, Defense, and mobility far surpassed those of ordinary Undead Soldiers.

They were the most powerful group of Undead Gu Su could field.

Looking at the Elite Skeleton Warriors lined up neatly before him, their presence steady and composed, Gu Su dispensed with pleasantries. He divided them into two five-man squads, just as he had for the previous mission.

Once the squads were formed, Gu Su spoke. "It seems you’ve all recovered well. You’re in even better shape than I expected. I have good news for you all today. Our first crop of Saw Grass yielded a great harvest. After drying, we’ve gathered a total of about five and a half pounds."

He paused, then clearly laid out their task. "In a moment, you will go to the Dark Erosion Cave. Each of you will collect a portion of Pure Yang Chicken Blood and half a pound of dried Saw Grass. Then, take these items to the Combat Outpost on the right side of the perimeter wall and get equipped.

These materials will further enhance your combat effectiveness and prepare you for the battles to come."

Upon hearing that there were materials to enhance their combat power, the ten Elite Skeleton Warriors immediately became animated. Excited, ghostly green Soul Fire danced in their empty eye sockets. Without a moment’s hesitation, they broke off in groups of two and three and, as Gu Su had commanded, headed for the Dark Erosion Cave to collect the materials before proceeding to the Combat Outpost on the right side of the wall to get equipped.

While the Elite Skeleton Warriors were getting their new gear, Gu Su didn’t remain idle. He turned and walked toward an empty room on the left side of the wall’s first floor.

This room was right next to the Yin Soul Shop. Its size was perfect, making it the ideal place to install the [Twisted Fuel Processing Machine].

After all, the vehicles had already been delivered. Without a corresponding supply of twisted fuel, the carefully selected and modified vehicles would be nothing more than useless decorations, completely unable to run.

Gu Su planned to use this spare time to first install and calibrate the [Twisted Fuel Processing Machine]. Then, he would take some rotten Wood he had no other use for, add some Yin Qi, and begin converting it into energy.

’I need to convert at least enough twisted fuel to ensure all the vehicles I bought can start up and be deployed in the next battle. They can’t fail because of a lack of energy and jeopardize the entire operation.’

Just then, the Elite Skeleton Warriors finished getting their new equipment.

The amount of Saw Grass wasn’t large, so each Elite Skeleton Warrior only received about half a pound.

They all chose to weave the Saw Grass into Shields. After all, since a Shield is something you have to carry, the lighter the better.

They had also coated their new Shields with the Pure Yang Chicken Blood, staining them red.

When they formed up behind Gu Su again, they stood perfectly still.

Gu Su gave them a nod, then paid them no further mind.

At that moment, Tooth Bone finished his initial modifications on the two SUVs.

Gu Su’s idea was to enhance their speed and ramming power, so Tooth Bone’s first step was to reinforce the SUVs’ chassis.

After all, whether you wanted to go fast or hit hard, you first had to ensure the vehicle wouldn’t fall apart on impact. Only once that was taken care of could he consider the other enhancements.
