The Undead Calamity Begins with a Graveyard Demon
Chapter 137 - 136: A Discovery Before Leaving
Chapter 137: Chapter 136: A Discovery Before Leaving
In less than half an hour, Crow’s Caw flew back, bringing Gu Su the latest news.
The Ghost Valley administrator had officially agreed to open a guided passage to help Gu Su and his Graveyard Demon leave the valley safely.
They had agreed on a departure time half an hour from now.
In his reply, the administrator specifically urged Gu Su to be fully prepared and to carefully check every nook and cranny of the Graveyard Demon, both inside and out, to avoid leaving anything behind in Ghost Valley.
After all, with so many people coming and going in the valley, coming back to search for a lost item would be a hassle. Worse, it might get picked up by another player, leading to unnecessary losses.
Gu Su wasn’t the least bit worried by the administrator’s reminder, however.
After all, he had only ever temporarily parked the Graveyard Demon on a vacant plot of land in Ghost Valley and had never stored anything outside it.
All purchased items and collected Resources had been stowed away immediately, so there was no chance of anything being left behind.
As for the items he had bought from his university, they had been used long ago.
Some of those items had been used directly on the various Gravepiles and Tombstones to strengthen them, which in turn increased the Yin Qi for the Undead packed inside.
Others were used on structures like the Yin Fire Heaps and the Deceitful Tree.
After all, these structures needed upgrading too.
As for the items that couldn’t be used right away, they had already been sorted and stored either next to the Yin Fire Heap or in the Withered Wood Forest.
They were also neatly arranged in the vacant rooms within the walls, ensuring they could be found quickly when needed later.
To put it bluntly, he, his Graveyard Demon, and his Undead Team were already prepared to leave at a moment’s notice.
The moment the administrator opened the guided passage, they could set off immediately, saving them the trouble of spending extra time organizing supplies or checking for forgotten items.
So, Gu Su turned to Bone Ash, who was still busy by the supply pile, and gave a crisp order, "Finish packing. We’re getting ready to leave. The administrator is opening the passage in half an hour."
Bone Ash immediately stopped what he was doing and nodded at Gu Su to show he understood. Then, he moved quickly.
He quickly packed up the items he had already sorted and deemed usable.
He ignored the items that were completely useless, leaving them for the Graveyard Demon to break down and convert into various basic materials to be recycled.
The unsorted junk was methodically moved to a corner and stacked neatly, preventing any clutter that might slow their departure.
Gu Su stood aside, watching quietly without saying a word.
He had tested it before. Bone Ash’s Scavenging ability worked just fine even inside the Graveyard Demon.
Through Bone Ash’s meticulous sorting, at least thirty percent of the seemingly useless junk could be salvaged as usable items.
When these salvaged items were sent to Tooth Bone for repairs, they had an eighty percent chance of being fixed.
Even if they got unlucky and a repair failed, the item could be dismantled for parts to modify other equipment or build structures, making use of its residual value.
This was far more effective than letting the Graveyard Demon convert all the junk directly into basic materials, as it both saved Resources and yielded many practical items.
Therefore, the unsorted junk had to be set aside for now. When time permitted, Bone Ash could slowly pick through it; not a single usable Resource could be wasted.
After giving his instructions to Bone Ash and confirming he would finish packing on time, Gu Su turned and headed for the roof of the perimeter wall.
Alice’s Watchtower wasn’t actually a tower in the traditional sense, but a throne constructed from white bone and vines.
As Gu Su ascended the stairs to the roof, Alice, who had been observing the distant landscape from the throne, immediately rose and gave him a formal bow.
Gu Su didn’t ask Alice for a report or engage in pleasantries, simply offering a slight nod in acknowledgment.
’He knew that without a proper cockpit, the Graveyard Demon couldn’t move flexibly anyway. Asking Alice for a status report wouldn’t yield any valuable information at this point.’
His reason for coming to the roof was simple: he wanted to see with his own eyes how the Ghost Valley administrator planned to guide the Graveyard Demon out.
Alice seemed to sense Gu Su’s intentions. Without a word, she vacated her seat at the Watchtower, stepping aside and gesturing for him to sit and observe. She then stood quietly in a nearby corner, head bowed, awaiting his command.
Gu Su took the seat, his hands gripping the edges of the throne. As he calmly observed the activity around the distant Ghost Valley entrance, a thought suddenly struck him.
’The view from here is amazing. I can see every movement inside and outside the valley, even the figures of the guards patrolling the entrance...’
’Wait a minute, the view!’
The moment the idea surfaced, it was as if a mental dam had broken. Gu Su suddenly saw the solution to the cockpit construction problem that had been troubling him. His eyes lit up, and a trace of imperceptible excitement showed on his face.
Gu Su lost all interest in observing the distant activity. He immediately stood up and hurried toward the second floor of that same section of wall.
This section of wall was on the northern side of the Graveyard Demon. It wasn’t very long, only about twenty meters.
After subtracting the four meters it shared with the connecting walls on either side, the remaining usable length was about sixteen meters. While not exactly spacious, it was enough to house a few rooms.
Since he had never decided on a specific purpose for this level, the rooms had been left in their original state, completely unmodified. They were empty, with nothing but sheet metal and wood walls and a floor covered in dust.
But now, Gu Su had other plans.
He would knock down all the interior walls on this level and convert it into the Graveyard Demon’s cockpit.
’No blueprints for a cockpit? Fine, he’d build one himself!’
’The exterior wall could be demolished and replaced with thick glass, ideally with an added layer of bulletproof mesh.’
’The Flashing Lamp Tubes could be mounted on the outer wall to act as headlights.’
’I can place a Communication doll here to contact Alice at the Watchtower directly, as well as other locations.’
As for a large table, chairs, observation ports, and the like, Gu Su could arrange for those too.
He had never piloted a large ship, but Gu Su felt this couldn’t be too different.
The only remaining problem was the question of how to make the Graveyard Demon turn.
