The Undead Calamity Begins with a Graveyard Demon
Chapter 129 - 128: Decaying Throne
Chapter 129: Chapter 128: Decaying Throne
As soon as they left the Paper City trading market, Gu Su turned to the Corpse Witch beside him, who had been silently examining the blueprints. "Well?" he asked directly. "Any problems?"
The Corpse Witch immediately stopped flipping through the blueprints and responded in a calm, objective tone, "My lord, the three blueprints themselves are fine. They are all standard, basic building designs.
However, the mushrooms, poisonous insects, and roosters depicted are the most basic varieties. Achieving maximum efficacy and yielding more valuable products will require a significant investment of time and energy into cultivation and iterative improvement."
After a pause, the Corpse Witch added a critical piece of information. "Furthermore, the basic footprint indicated on the blueprints is likely far from sufficient.
To see any real results, we’ll need to build on a massive scale."
Hearing this, Gu Su’s tone was firm and confident as he asked, "And what’s the ultimate potential?"
"It’s impossible to determine the absolute ceiling right now. The results of cultivation and improvement are influenced by many factors."
The Corpse Witch slowly shook his head, but his tone shifted, becoming more certain. "However, I can confirm that the rooster is an excellent asset. The Pure Yang Chicken Blood and Cock’s Comb Blood are both quite useful, whether as sustenance for the Undead or as ingredients for Alchemy."
"That’s good enough for me!" Gu Su’s eyes lit up, his pensive mood vanishing in an instant. "When we get back to the Graveyard Demon, I’ll move all the buildings out of the basement and clear the whole thing out."
The Corpse Witch’s words had completely opened up Gu Su’s thinking, and the plan forming in his mind grew clearer.
He had never imagined that the Graveyard Demon’s outer walls would become two-story structures after the upgrade. To free up ground space before that, he had temporarily moved a few buildings into the basement.
After the Graveyard Demon’s successful upgrade, he’d been too busy with other matters to think about what to do with those buildings in the basement, so he had just left them there.
Now, it was just a matter of moving them back.
Gu Su planned to move the buildings from the basement back to the surface once he returned. He would then convert the empty basement into dedicated "farmland" for the large-scale construction of the Mushroom Cave, Five Poison Chicken Coop, and Poisonous Insect Cave.
As for the buildings moved back to the surface, the Graveyard Demon’s walls were now two-story structures. Though they still looked rather dilapidated and weathered, there were plenty of available rooms on both floors, perfect for housing the relocated buildings.
This way, they wouldn’t take up any of the main graveyard’s ground space, but could still function normally.
Having figured it all out, Gu Su’s worries completely vanished. His steps became noticeably lighter, and a long-absent smile even appeared on his face. He wasted no more time and led his subordinates at a brisk pace toward the Graveyard Demon.
The group moved quickly, and it wasn’t long before they were back inside the Graveyard Demon.
The moment he stepped within the bounds of the Graveyard Demon, Gu Su eagerly headed straight for his tent.
Inside the tent, Gu Su didn’t hesitate for a second. He immediately took out the four building blueprints he had purchased from Zhi Xiang that day and registered them one by one into the Graveyard Demon’s construction system.
Once the blueprints were successfully registered, the four designs officially became available construction options for the Graveyard Demon, ready to be built as soon as the materials were committed.
After registering the blueprints, Gu Su immediately began dealing with the buildings in the basement.
He started by moving the Yin Soul Shop and Combat Outpost, which had been temporarily relocated to the basement, back to the surface.
This time, however, he didn’t place the two buildings back in the main graveyard area. Instead, he specifically installed them in the small rooms within the outer walls.
After all, the Graveyard Demon’s walls had been upgraded into two-story structures. Even if they still looked a bit rundown, the rooms inside were spacious enough to be a perfect fit for the Yin Soul Shop and Combat Outpost, allowing him to make full use of the wall space.
As Gu Su successfully moved the Yin Soul Shop and Combat Outpost into the wall’s rooms, the sections of the wall on either side of the Graveyard Demon’s main gate underwent noticeable changes.
A section of the wall to the left of the gate, over two meters wide, was automatically dismantled.
In its place, a window of a respectable size formed. A simple yet orderly counter materialized out of thin air in the opening, with three items neatly arranged on its surface, displayed for sale to the outside.
The wall to the right of the gate, meanwhile, underwent an even more dramatic transformation.
The original, dilapidated wall—haphazardly patched together from scrap metal and shoddy wood—was instantly replaced by one constructed from thick bones and tough Beast Skins, exuding a crude yet imposing aura.
Sharpened weapons were arranged neatly on either side of the new entrance, making its purpose immediately clear: this was the newly relocated Combat Outpost.
After settling the placement of the Yin Soul Shop and the Combat Outpost, Gu Su didn’t pause. He immediately took out all the materials required to build the [Decaying Throne].
units of Stone, 5 units of bone or flesh, and 4 units of herbs. He planned to build this Watchtower first.
But just as he was about to select a construction site, he discovered that the [Decaying Throne] was distinctly different from other buildings.
The system restricted it to a single placement area. He couldn’t choose the location freely; it could only be placed atop the northernmost section of the Graveyard Demon’s wall.
At the same time, the requirements for the necessary bones and herbs were actually quite strict.
It required large, thick bones; smaller ones, like hand bones, were not even worth considering.
As for the herbs, they didn’t need to have any particular medicinal properties. The Strong Root Grass Gu Su had planted on the walls and the vines growing at their base would both qualify.
As for the Stone, Gu Su had plenty on hand.
Soon, the materials were transported to the top of the wall.
The moment Gu Su selected the appropriate location, a mass of white mycelium surged forth and enveloped the materials.
Then, a high-backed chair began to take shape, assembling at a speed visible to the naked eye, as if kneaded into form by a pair of invisible, skillful hands.
Countless finely crushed bone fragments intertwined with pliable roots and vines, layering themselves along an invisible contour. In the blink of an eye, the basic form of the high-backed chair was sketched out.
When the mycelium coiling around it had completely dissipated, leaving no trace, a throne pieced together from bone and tightly bound by vines and gnarled roots stood firmly upon the roof.
The bone fragments were fitted together with neat, solid precision. The vines and roots clung to them like living things, delineating the throne’s every contour.
The throne’s orientation was already fixed, facing due north, out beyond the walls.
On either side of the throne stood a massive lamppost carved from a single block of stone, its surface etched with simple Skeleton patterns.
Clusters of ethereal Blue flames burned atop the lampposts. The fire danced silently, casting a cold, eerie glimmer that made the rooftop flicker between light and shadow.
