Chapter 128: Chapter 127: Bought Something Good

Gu Su meticulously reviewed the numerous building blueprints, haggling back and forth before finally settling on a price.

Gu Su spent 2,000 Gold Coins on three reusable building blueprints.

They were for the Mushroom Cave, the Five Poison Chicken Coop, and a farm structure called the Poisonous Insect Cave.

Gu Su had a resource loop in mind when he made his selections.

The Mushroom Cave would produce mushrooms and Poison Mushrooms daily. After the harvest, the leftover mushroom scraps could be used to feed the insects in the Poisonous Insect Cave.

Besides their venom, which could be extracted for poisons or alchemy materials, the insects’ remains and excess parts could then be used as feed for the Five Poison Chicken Coop.

And the droppings from the chicken coop, after some simple processing, would serve as an excellent fertilizer for growing mushrooms, eliminating the need for any other kind.

This entire process formed a closed-loop resource cycle that maximized the use of every resource, creating a perfectly ideal system.

However, there was always a gap between the ideal and reality. Gu Su couldn’t be certain if this loop would be successfully implemented or if there would be hitches in its actual operation. He would have to wait until the structures were built to slowly test and calibrate everything.

Aside from these three core blueprints for the resource loop, a few other designs recommended by Zhi Xiang also caught Gu Su’s eye. He was especially tempted by one for a building that could directly train Magic Skeletons and allow them to advance their class.

But reason quickly triumphed over impulse. He reached up and patted his pocket. ’After that last transaction,’ he thought, ’I don’t have many Gold Coins left. Even if Zhi Xiang is still willing to give me a discount, I can’t afford any more blueprints.’ He had no choice but to let it go for now.

Gu Su put away the three blueprint scrolls and said to Zhi Xiang in an even tone, "This will be all for now. I hope we’ll have a chance to trade again."

The eerie smile remained on Zhi Xiang’s paper face, with its painted blood-red circle. He slowly nodded and replied politely, "Of course, Little City Lord. I look forward to our next transaction."

His only goal was to raise funds for Paper Gold Mountain’s upgrade. Since Gu Su had made it clear he couldn’t afford anything else, Zhi Xiang didn’t press him to stay. He turned and strode briskly toward the other players who had gathered nearby, immediately and enthusiastically pitching his other wares without wasting a second.

Gu Su turned to the Corpse Witch, which had been silently following him. Without hesitation, he handed over the three blueprint scrolls.

Although all three structures were classified as agricultural, a closer look revealed that their products were poisonous, or the materials required for their construction and operation were toxic.

The Corpse Witch was the most skilled at handling poisons, so the construction and management of these new additions would likely fall to it.

The Corpse Witch took the blueprints and silently unrolled them for inspection. Meanwhile, Gu Su organized his things, preparing to return to the Graveyard Demon.

But just as he was about to leave the trading post, a figure suddenly hurried forward and blocked his path.

"Hey, man, hold on!" the person called out, their voice laced with an urgency that felt a little too enthusiastic.

"I saw you buying building blueprints from Zhi Xiang. You must be just starting to develop your Mobile City, right?

I’ve got something great, something that’ll be a huge help to you. Interested in taking a look?"

Gu Su stopped and looked the player over.

The player wore a black, hooded robe, the hood pulled down low enough to hide their face. They carried a large, ostentatiously designed scythe that looked quite intimidating.

But their forward posture, darting eyes, and deliberately hushed voice made them look exactly like a street vendor hawking pirated discs—they radiated untrustworthiness from head to toe.

Gu Su immediately lost interest and refused bluntly, "Sorry, I’m out of money. I don’t need anything else."

"Hey, man, don’t be so quick to refuse!" the player said, waving their hands frantically. Their tone grew even more urgent. "This isn’t standard market fare—it’s from my private stash! We don’t have to use Gold Coins. I’ll take basic resources like Stone or Wood. It’s a great deal!"

As they spoke, they reached for Gu Su’s arm, trying to lead him to a corner of the trading post as if they were afraid of being seen.

They hesitated, however. All the players present were official players who owned their own cities or Mobile Cities, and each possessed a certain degree of power. Being too brazen could attract trouble, so they ultimately restrained themselves. They settled for blocking Gu Su’s path and continuing to pitch their wares with all their might.

At first, Gu Su patiently listened to a few lines, but the player just kept repeating the same vague sales pitch. They wouldn’t clarify what the item was, nor would they reveal the specific terms of the deal. After their persistent pestering, Gu Su started to get annoyed.

"Look, man, please move. I really don’t have any money, and I don’t need your stuff."

Gu Su’s tone grew colder, his earlier calm expression replaced by clear impatience.

The moment Gu Su spoke, the Corpse Witch and Alice, who had been standing silently behind him, both took a step forward, flanking him on his left and right.

The player glanced at the Corpse Witch and Alice standing before Gu Su, then back at Gu Su’s resolute expression. It was clear they had no chance of persuading him today; pestering him further might just bring trouble upon themselves.

They sighed in resignation, dropping the enthusiastic sales-pitch act. Their gaze shifted to other players browsing nearby, and they turned to find a new target.

But just as they turned, a piece of paper resembling a flyer slipped from the pocket of their loose, hooded robe. It fluttered in the air for a moment before landing at Gu Su’s feet.

Gu Su glanced down at the paper, a flicker of disdain in his eyes.

He didn’t have to think twice. It was most likely a cheap advertisement, a ploy to get his attention.

It was just as suspect as the player themselves.

Without pausing, he stepped around the flyer and headed straight for the exit, not even bothering to bend down and pick it up. He felt a second glance would be a waste of time.

Gu Su didn’t look back, so he never noticed that as he walked away, the untouched flyer on the ground began to rapidly blacken and curl.

In just a few seconds, it turned into a pile of black ash, as if it had been consumed by intense flames. The ash then scattered on the wind, vanishing as if it had never been there at all.
