Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Gu Su’s Good Friend, Unscrupulous Merchant

At this point, these world fragments could hardly be considered true Game Worlds anymore. Even a Level 1 Game Worker with no Golden Finger could enter and exit freely, without needing to use any energy or items.

Because of this, these world fragments became the only place where Game Workers could make a living. Gu Su himself had endured three years inside one and knew that feeling all too well.

Day after day, year after year, Gu Su performed repetitive and tedious grunt work like mining and farming. He relied on the ore and crops he produced to trade for meager Resources, barely scraping by.

They were trapped in this cramped space for their entire lives. Without a Golden Finger, they couldn’t set foot in a true Game World, let alone grow stronger. But as players, their bodies were digitized, allowing them to live for at least three or four hundred years.

New Game Workers might be excited at first, but they would slowly grow numb, just enduring it all.

Gu Su was also familiar with the No. 3319 Mine that Liu Zu mentioned. It was just such an abandoned world fragment.

It wasn’t small. Around seven hundred mine shafts of varying sizes and depths were crammed together, shrouded in Yin Qi. Over eighty percent of them had been converted into haunted mines.

To put it bluntly, they had been intentionally modified to make it easier to use Zombies for mining.

After all, the mining efficiency of Zombies was far higher than that of living people.

And a place with dense Yin Qi was simply more conducive to Zombie activity.

As for why the Game Workers were made to manage these Zombies, there was no other reason than the fact that Undead creatures are exceptionally clumsy without a commander. They would often just stand around stupidly or wander about haphazardly, completely unable to mine in an orderly fashion.

With the Zombies working day and night under the command of Game Workers, the No. 3319 Mine could produce at least a hundred thousand units of ore daily, just enough to cover a portion of the Ring Moon’s daily consumption.

"Everyone went to the No. 3319 Mine?

Did the people from the Cyan Ghost Gang go too?"

Hearing Liu Zu say that all the factions in the Night Ghost Market were rushing to the No. 3319 Mine, Gu Su’s eyes flickered. He immediately followed up with a question, his tone laced with a barely perceptible urgency as he probed for information.

The name "Cyan Ghost Gang" had been weighing on his mind ever since he acquired that cheap, knock-off Graveyard Demon. Now that this coincided with the disturbance at the mine, it was inevitable that other ideas would begin to form.

"They went, of course they went! How could they not?"

Liu Zu scratched his head. Though he was a little curious why Gu Su had specifically asked about the Cyan Ghost Gang, and a flash of confusion crossed his eyes, he still answered truthfully at once.

"Here in the Night Ghost Market, everyone from minor gangs with some reputation like the Cyan Ghost Gang to small groups of just three or five people are all rushing like mad to the No. 3319 Mine. After all, green ore is incredibly rare. Everyone wants to take the opportunity to cash in."

Little did Liu Zu know that Gu Su was asking about the Cyan Ghost Gang’s whereabouts not for some green ore, but for an entirely different reason.

The Earth-type Golden Finger Graveyard Demon in Gu Su’s possession had originally been purchased from a player in the Cyan Ghost Gang.

That guy had charged Gu Su the full price for an authentic product but secretly pulled a bait-and-switch, giving him a shoddily made, knock-off version of extremely poor quality. If Gu Su hadn’t been so lucky, he would have died in the Game World long ago.

’He had clearly planned it all out. Take my money, get me killed in the game so there’d be no one to testify, and then who knows? Maybe he could even pick my bones clean afterward.’

Gu Su had no intention of tolerating such scum—someone who took dirty money and nearly got a man killed. There was no way he was going to let him off the hook that easily.

When he first returned from Ghost Valley, he had been secretly plotting. ’I just reached Level 2 and don’t have many advantages. How can I make my move and reliably take care of that Cyan Ghost Gang player who scammed me and settle this score?’

But the news from Liu Zu was undoubtedly a perfect opportunity. A preliminary idea instantly formed in Gu Su’s mind, and a subtle, sharp glint flashed in his eyes. His initial urgency subsided, replaced by a sense of calculation.

After a moment of contemplation, Gu Su looked up at Liu Zu and calmly made a request. "Liu Zu, I have a favor to ask. Could you help me transport some corpses to the No. 3319 Mine?"

"Transport corpses?" Liu Zu was stunned for a moment, then immediately nodded as if it were perfectly normal. He asked casually, "No problem. What’s so hard about that? How many do you need?"

After all, both of them were Undead Mages. They knew better than anyone that corpses were an Undead Mage’s most core, most fundamental material for both cultivation and combat. It was what they dealt with the most on a daily basis.

In the area around the Night Ghost Market, besides the mining zones where people mined for a living and the cultivation zones for growing poisons and herbs, there was also a graveyard zone that specialized in producing corpses. It was perennially piled with corpses left over from abandoned Game Worlds, and it had become the main source of materials for Undead Mages.

Besides, Liu Zu had done this sort of thing often—secretly transporting a few corpses to a mine, taking advantage of the chaos to use the Soul Summoning Technique to summon the Undead, and snatching some ore on the sly. He knew the ropes; it wasn’t a difficult task at all.

Seeing Liu Zu agree so readily, the corners of Gu Su’s mouth lifted into a faint smile. He stated his requirement directly: "One hundred."
