The Trash Guide Awakens: The Youngest General's Hidden Wife
Chapter 122: Battle Above the Crystal Forest
The enemy flagship fired its broadside without warning.
A massive, concentrated beam of pitch-black energy tore down through the atmosphere, descending toward the crystal canopy like a pillar of pure annihilation. The air scorched as dark plasma burned through the upper clouds.
"Intercept!" Raevor commanded into the fleet comms, his cold voice instantly cutting through the battle noise.
The frontier defensive fleet responded in an instant. Heavy battleships accelerated into combat formation, projecting interlocking layers of shimmering silver Sentinel barriers above the planet’s stratosphere.
Ground-based orbital cannons locked onto the incoming beam, unleashing synchronized plasma bursts that struck the strike head from multiple angles.
The resulting collision illuminated the entire night sky in a blinding, violent flash.
For an agonizing second, the wave of pitch darkness and the wall of silver light struggled fiercely against each other. Sparking shockwaves rippled through the upper atmosphere, rattling the command center windows miles away.
Then, under the combined force of the defensive fleet, the dark pillar fractured.
Its scattered energy remnants exploded harmlessly across the upper sky, sending cascading waves of violet light across the crystal forest canopy below.
"First strike successfully intercepted, General!" an officer reported hastily. "The hostile fleet is deploying secondary assault squads!"
Raevor stood motionless before the holomap, his eyes cold and calculation sharp.
"Maintain the spherical defensive formation," he ordered, his hand resting on his command console. "Prioritize protecting the planetary energy junctions. Do not allow a single warship to breach the atmosphere."
"Understood, General!"
Miles away on the planetary surface, Rhaevia stood atop a high crystalline ridge overlooking the vast, glowing forest. Radiant golden light flowed rhythmically beneath her feet, surging through the interconnected roots of the planetary Zerg network.
Through her Sovereign connection, she could feel every pulse and movement across the entire world.
Millions of Zerg stirred beneath the deep earth, their biological energy pulsing in harmony with her mind. Crystalline-winged beasts circled gracefully above the shining trees, while the underground civilization’s armored warriors secured the mountain passes leading toward the capital.
And high above the clouds, Raevor’s presence burned in her consciousness like a brilliant silver star.
Their 100% resonance bound their awareness together, weaving the human fleet and the planet’s native forces into a single, cohesive entity.
Rhaevia raised her hand, her golden eyes flashing with absolute authority.
"First winged formation, ascend to the cloud layer," she commanded into the mental network. "Second subterranean formation, reinforce the eastern energy junction. Keep all light Zerg clear of the civilian perimeter."
Across the sprawling forest, thousands of Zerg moved simultaneously in flawless coordination.
Massive armored behemoths surged out from underground tunnels, their chitin plates lit by glowing golden veins. Sleek, winged variants rose into the night air by the thousands, forming a living, biological shield directly beneath the descending enemy dropships.
The first wave of hostile assault craft pierced the cloud cover.
The angular landing ships released swarms of mechanical combat units, each equipped with heavy cannons emitting the same signature black energy used by the captured raiders.
"Target their energy systems!" Rhaevia ordered her swarm.
Her eyes narrowed as she analyzed the enemy’s landing trajectory.
"They are trying to sever our physical connection to the planetary core," she realized aloud.
She extended her mind further into the Sovereign Command Field, her voice echoing in the hearts of her beasts.
"Protect the roots. Destroy their weapons."
The Zerg answered instantly.
Crystalline-winged beasts intercepted the descending mechanical drop-pods mid-air, using their claws to shred through armor. On the ground, massive armored beasts launched concentrated bursts of bio-plasmic energy, scrambling the targeting sensors of the mechanical units.
Dozens of enemy pods detonated in mid-air before ever touching the ground.
Those that managed to land attempted an immediate retreat, only to find their escape routes cut off by waiting Zerg assault formations.
Far above the clouds, the human defensive fleet shifted its positions in perfect harmony with the ground battle.
Raevor watched the display aboard the flagship. Every Zerg movement appeared as a golden light alongside the fleet’s blue icons, allowing his officers to anticipate openings before the enemy even realized they were exposed.
"Enemy strike squadron moving toward the western perimeter!" an officer shouted.
"Third defensive group, adjust trajectory to intercept," Raevor ordered instantly. "Coordinate directly with the planetary network’s movement."
The tactical officer blinked in sheer disbelief. "General, the Zerg swarms are shifting to cover our flanks before our radio commands are even fully transmitted!"
"They aren’t responding to our transmission," Raevor stated calmly. "They are responding to her."
His silver eyes glowed faintly under the strain of their massive energy connection.
Through their Guide-Sentinel resonance, he could feel Rhaevia’s vast awareness sweeping across the surface. Her intentions reached him as immediate feelings rather than spoken words, allowing him to react to ground threats the moment she identified them.
When Rhaevia redirected her eastern beasts, Raevor’s fleet seamlessly shifted its orbital fire to cover her movement.
When Raevor identified a stealth warship trying to flank the planet’s horizon, Rhaevia’s flying Zerg swarms rose to block its deployment route.
Neither of them needed to utter a single command to the other.
They simply understood.

[PLANETARY DEFENSE NETWORK: FULLY INTEGRATED.]
For the first time since the invasion began, the eighty-seven hostile warships found their relentless advance ground to a halt.
Rhaevia watched from the ridge as another enemy cruiser exploded in orbit, showering the night sky in dying sparks.
So this is what happens when our forces fight as one, she thought, her pulse quickening.
Yet, despite their absolute dominance, a chill settled in her stomach.
It was too easy.
The enemy had arrived with an armada of eighty-seven warships, advanced spatial stealth systems, and energy weapons specifically designed to neutralize Sovereign power. They had tracked her across light-years and struck the moment they confirmed her location.
They came thoroughly prepared for a planetary siege.
Which meant they were holding back their true strength.
"Raevor," she transmitted directly into his mind through their mental link. "Their flagship hasn’t fired its primary cannon since the opening strike."
His deep voice echoed in her mind immediately.
"I’ve noticed. Stand ready."
Suddenly, a terrifying, suffocating pressure swept across the entire planet.
Every single Zerg in the crystal forest froze in place, their biological instincts paralyzed for a fraction of a second. The glowing roots beneath Rhaevia’s feet dimmed rapidly, pulsing with an unnatural, sickly black energy.
Project Genesis flared violently across her sight.

[HOSTILE COMMAND SIGNATURE: APPROACHING.]
Rhaevia lifted her head, her gaze piercing through the clouds toward the stars.
High in orbit, the gigantic enemy flagship opened its forward observation deck. A towering figure materialized within a planetary-scale holographic projection above the forest, its body clad in dark armor and wrapped in a mantle that rippled with distorted spatial energy.
Even across thousands of miles of atmosphere, Rhaevia felt the weight of that cold gaze lock directly onto her.
The roar of artillery and the shrieks of the beasts fell silent.
Then, the enemy commander spoke, its amplified voice resonating through every open comms channel and echoing across the entire sky.
"False Sovereign," the commander’s voice boomed like grinding tectonic plates, vibrating through the crystalline trees and shaking the very foundation of the ridge beneath Rhaevia’s feet. "You play at absolute dominion over a broken throne, hiding behind rusted human steel and feral beasts."
The gigantic holographic entity raised a gauntleted hand, and space around the flagship warped violent visual distortions, bending starlight like liquid glass. Crimson runes flared along the dark armor’s pauldrons, casting a sinister, blood-red hue over the upper clouds.
"You believe your unified mind makes you invincible," the entity continued, its dual-layered tone carrying an ancient, suffocating weight that forced the weaker Zerg to collapse to their knees in agony. "You have merely gathered all your threads into a single, fragile knot for us to sever."
Rhaevia gritted her teeth, holding her ground as the oppressive Sovereign aura pressed down upon her consciousness. Her golden eyes burned brighter, refueling the dimmed root network beneath her boots with raw, unyielding energy.
Beside her in the mental link, Raevor’s presence surged like a protective wall of cold silver, shielding her mind from the hostile mental invasion. His voice cut sharply through the oppressive static.
"He’s trying to disrupt our resonance, Rhaevia. Hold the link."
"I won’t shatter," she replied, drawing upon every ounce of her authority as the enemy flagship’s central array began to charge with a blinding crimson flare.
