The Supreme Village Doctor
Chapter 252 - 253: Killing Pheasants
Chapter 252: Chapter 253: Killing Pheasants
What?!
Li Yang immediately said, "Stall them! I’m on my way back right now!"
With that, Li Yang immediately spun his car around and headed for Zeng Qing’s farm.
When he arrived, he found the place was already crowded with parked cars.
Clearly, they were here to cull the pheasants.
Li Yang hurried inside.
’If they really cull all these pheasants, where am I supposed to find more chicks?’
He could already hear the sound of arguing from inside.
"I’ve already told you, my pheasants are fine now!" Zeng Qing stood before the enclosure, so agitated she could barely get the words out. "If you don’t believe me, you can catch any of them and test them! Look at them fly! Do they look like they have avian flu? Don’t you dare lay a hand on them..."
"Boss Zeng, we understand how you feel," a man in a suit said, standing his ground. "But our hands are tied. Your pheasants were tested before, and they did indeed have avian flu. You admitted it yourself. You can’t just deny it now because they’re having a brief recovery. Besides, we’ll compensate you for your losses..."
"I don’t want your compensation! My pheasants are fine!" Zeng Qing looked like she was about to burst into tears.
Li Yang immediately stepped forward. "The pheasants really are fine now. There’s no trace of avian flu. I’m the one who cured them. I guarantee it."
"What good is your guarantee?" the man in the suit shot back, clearly annoyed. "What does this have to do with you? Our city’s top experts couldn’t fix this, and you just waltz in claiming you cured them? Who do you think you’re kidding?"
"I’m not kidding anyone!" Li Yang said earnestly. "I’m just telling you the facts. If you refuse to listen, then there’s nothing I can do. But the truth is the truth. If you don’t believe me, we can run the tests again. I guarantee you these birds are perfectly healthy."
"What a joke!" The man in the suit sneered. "You think we have time to play games with you? Get to it! Cull all these pheasants!"
"Hold it!" Li Yang roared. "Are you deaf? I already told you I cured the avian flu. This is just reckless!"
With that thought, Li Yang immediately called Shen Xu. "Do you know anyone in Ningzhou? I’m at a pheasant farm. They’re saying there’s an avian flu outbreak, but I’ve already cured all the birds..."
Li Yang quickly explained the situation.
"Hold on," Shen Xu said. "I’ll make a call right now."
Meanwhile, the man in the suit was once again ordering his subordinates to begin culling the pheasants.
But with Zeng Qing blocking the way, they didn’t dare act recklessly, resulting in a tense standoff.
"Zeng Qing!" the man in the suit roared, practically hopping with rage. "Let me tell you, this avian flu outbreak is extremely serious! It’s already appeared in several places. If we don’t cull these pheasants now, do you have any idea how much hardship that will cause for the other farmers in this city? Can you shoulder that responsibility?"
Clutching a broom, Zeng Qing retorted, "If my pheasants really were sick, you wouldn’t have to tell me—I’d cull them myself! But... like I said, my birds are healthy now!"
"Nonsense!" the man in the suit barked.
But just at that moment, the man in the suit’s phone rang.
"Director Xu..." the man in the suit said hastily.
"Is there a man named Li Yang there?" the voice on the other end asked. "Bring two pheasants from that farm back here. We’re re-running the tests."
"Director Xu..." The man in the suit was stunned. "But... we’ve already tested them. There’s no need for this. Our top priority is to cull these birds to prevent a larger crisis..."
"Just do as I say. Bring back the birds, along with the owner and Li Yang. Now," Director Xu urged.
The man in the suit had no choice but to agree.
"Looking for me, right?" Li Yang knew Shen Xu’s call had worked. He said, "Let’s go. We’ll get them re-tested. We’ll all go back with you. If there’s still an outbreak, you can cull the birds, and you can punish me however you see fit."
The man in the suit snorted, then said to his men, "Grab two of the pheasants. Quickly."
Soon, they were all on their way to the bureau.
After hanging up with the man in the suit, Director Xu immediately called Shen Xu. "Xiaoxu, is this person you mentioned really that capable?"
"Uncle Xu," Shen Xu said earnestly, "all I know is that from my dealings with him, he’s in a class of his own, whether it’s treating people or animals. There’s nothing he can’t cure. With the avian flu being so severe in your city, I thought he should take a look. In any case, it’s just a simple re-test for you. If he’s right, think of how much money the farmers will be saved. And it saves us money too, right?"
