Chapter 131: Chapter 132: Turning the Tables

"Did you offend him?" Shen Xu asked, looking at Li Yang in surprise.

Li Yang then recounted what had happened yesterday.

Shen Xu’s eyes widened in realization. "This He Weiweng is so shameless, resorting to a tactic like that."

Li Yang’s expression darkened. "I know better than anyone whether my medicinal liquor works," he said grimly. "And if we’re talking about whether it’s ’qualified’ or not, you could say the same for all traditional Chinese medicine—none of it is officially tested. If they’re going to crack down, they can’t just single me out."

Shen Xu nodded. This was clearly a targeted attack.

"Can you help me set up a meeting with the people from the industrial and commercial bureau?" Li Yang asked. "And also, get me a meeting with this He Weiweng. I need to talk to them."

"Sure, I’ll arrange it," Shen Xu said. After a moment, she added, "By the way, since I’m doing you this favor, can you do one for me?"

"What is it?" Li Yang asked.

"What else could it be? It’s about Wu Juan and her crew. We still have no idea where they are, and we can’t catch them," Shen Xu said, her voice tinged with frustration. "Qin Gang is breathing down my neck about it. Can you help me think of a way to catch them? I know you’re good at this sort of thing."

"That..." Li Yang thought for a moment. "Alright, fine. I’ll figure something out for you. But first, please set up that meeting for me right away. It would be best if we could meet them for dinner tonight."

"Okay!"

...

That evening, Li Yang arrived at Xi Chi Manor.

With Hidden Dragon Manor shut down, business at Xi Chi Manor was booming.

Li Yang went inside and quickly found the private room where the meeting was scheduled.

He opened the door and saw two men sitting inside.

One was He Weiweng, whom he had seen the other day. The other was a heavyset, middle-aged man, who must be the Director Feng that Shen Xu had mentioned.

Neither of them spoke when they saw Li Yang enter.

"Old Man He, you’ve got some nerve," Li Yang said, addressing He Weiweng directly.

"Young man, if you don’t learn to respect your elders, you’re headed for a much bigger fall!" He Weiweng retorted, his temper flaring.

Li Yang sneered, completely dismissing him.

"Director Feng, your illness is nothing to worry about. I’ll just prescribe a few more courses of medicine, and you’ll be completely cured," He Weiweng said to Director Feng.

Director Feng smiled happily. "Thank you so much, Divine Doctor He. If it weren’t for your treatments these past few days, I wouldn’t be feeling this comfortable."

"Cured?" Li Yang scoffed, glancing at Director Feng before letting out a laugh. "You think you can be cured like this? This man He doesn’t know the first thing he’s doing. His diagnosis is a complete mess. What kind of treatment is that? Director Feng, if you let him continue, you’re going to die."

"How dare you curse Director Feng!" He Weiweng roared, pointing at Li Yang. "You’ve got a lot of nerve!"

Li Yang ignored him completely and addressed Director Feng directly. "He knows very well whether I’m cursing him. Director Feng, when you sleep at night, do you ever feel your right foot twitch? And you get a faint headache, don’t you? It’s always brief, so you probably haven’t paid it much mind, have you?"

The color drained from Director Feng’s face.

"Those are the early signs of the disease worsening," Li Yang said coldly. "If this continues, in less than half a month, your condition will be past the point of no return. Incurable. Do you believe me?"

"Nonsense!" He Weiweng sneered. "You don’t know shit."

Li Yang gave a cold smile and said nothing more.

Director Feng stood up, swaying slightly. "You... how did you know?"

"This Old Man He knows perfectly well whether my medicinal liquor works," Li Yang stated coldly. "What you probably don’t know, Director Feng, is that he approached us yesterday to buy my secret formula for ten thousand yuan. I refused. So today, he went to your bureau and reported us for operating without a license. Isn’t that right?"

"But you are, in fact, operating without a license..." Director Feng began.

"Farewell!" Li Yang stood up, his face devoid of expression. "When the time comes, don’t bother coming to me for a cure, Director Feng. I can’t treat a dead man."

"Wait!" Director Feng’s expression changed drastically. He hurried forward and asked, "You’re Mr. Li, correct? This might all be a misunderstanding."

"A misunderstanding?" Li Yang said with a cold laugh. "This is a blatant, targeted attack, and you’re telling me it’s a misunderstanding? How am I supposed to believe that?"

Director Feng felt a surge of anxiety. Everything Li Yang said about his condition was spot on, leaving him no room for disbelief.

After a moment’s thought, he said quickly, "Can you really cure me? If you can, then this whole business can be easily resolved."

"Alright," Li Yang said, taking out his silver needles. "Director Feng, please sit."

Director Feng sat down.

Li Yang’s hands flew as he administered the needles.

A little over ten minutes later, Li Yang removed the needles.

"Director Feng, feel for yourself. Isn’t your breathing smoother now?"

Director Feng took a moment and realized it was true.

For days, he had felt a heavy weight on his chest, like a large stone that nothing could dislodge. He never expected Li Yang to resolve it so easily.

"A Divine Doctor!" Director Feng exclaimed with a laugh. "I understand now. With medical skills like yours, sir, there can’t be anything wrong with your medicinal liquor. Tell you what, I’ll go back and have the seals removed immediately."

"Thank you, Director Feng," Li Yang said, standing up. He then turned to glare coldly at He Weiweng. "You, He. Now I’m very unhappy. By the way, I predict that in one day, your right leg will start to hurt. By the night after tomorrow at the latest, it will begin to rot. Remember my words. If you don’t want to die, you’d better be prepared to get on your knees and apologize!"

With that, Li Yang pushed the door open and left.
