The Supreme Village Doctor
Chapter 132 - 133: Medicinal Cuisine Market Demand
Chapter 132: Chapter 133: Medicinal Cuisine Market Demand
He Weiweng’s expression was foul.
He hadn’t expected that even roping in Director Feng would be useless.
Director Feng stood up, a faint smile on his face. "Mr. He, it looks like I won’t be able to help you this time. Oh, and by the way, Divine Doctor Li mentioned you have some health issues. You should probably get yourself checked out. In my opinion, Divine Doctor Li’s medical skills are extraordinary. It’s never a bad idea to heed his advice."
"Director Feng..." He Weiweng stood, wanting to say more.
But Director Feng had no intention of giving him the chance. He just smiled at him and quickly walked out.
"Damn it!" He Weiweng cursed.
He had resorted to such a low blow, yet it was still useless. Worse, he’d made an enemy in the process.
’Then again,’ he thought, ’Li Yang is just some hick farmer. So what if I made an enemy out of him?’
"Damn it, just you wait!" He Weiweng sneered. "I’ll get another chance."
Li Yang hurried away and returned to Hidden Dragon Manor.
The official seals on the property had already been removed.
Shang Hongyun had clearly gotten a call, as she was already there waiting.
"Was this you?" Shang Hongyun’s face lit up when she saw Li Yang return. "You’re amazing. You solved my problem in no time."
Li Yang grinned. "You’re wrong. I’m not fast."
Shang Hongyun giggled. "Fast or not... we’ll have to find out sometime, won’t we?"
’Alright, you win!’
Li Yang was left speechless. ’I’d better stop making suggestive jokes around her,’ he thought. ’One of these days, I won’t be able to handle the comeback.’
Just then, Shen Xu pulled up in her car. She greeted Li Yang, saying, "I helped you sort things out. Now it’s your turn to help me, right?"
Li Yang turned to her with a smile. "I really owe you for this one... This is about catching Wu Juan and the others, right?"
"Right!" Shen Xu affirmed.
"They all have syphilis, you know that?" Li Yang asked suddenly.
"I know," Shen Xu said, shaking her head.
Li Yang gave a smug smile. "If they’re still in the area, they’ll definitely need to see a doctor. But they won’t dare go to a hospital where they could easily be recognized. Their most likely option is a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. So, why don’t you check with the various TCM clinics? Especially the ones known for treating... *this* sort of thing."
Shen Xu’s eyes lit up. She looked at Li Yang, surprised. "I didn’t think of that. You’ve really got some clever ideas."
"Whether it works or not will depend on your luck," Li Yang said with a shake of his head. "Go give it a shot."
"Okay!" Shen Xu left, looking pleased.
"Well, well. It seems you have some hidden talents I haven’t discovered yet," Shang Hongyun said, clicking her tongue. "Even the police are coming to you for advice."
Li Yang shot her a look, then said, "The medicinal wine is fine now, so keep selling it. I’m counting on it to make money. Oh, and I’ll bring you another bottle of it in a few days. Just sell as much as you can."
"You got it!" Shang Hongyun laughed.
Just then, Li Yang got a call from Zhao Xuechu. "Zhenzhen says she wants to treat you to dinner. It’s at our Xue Chu Medicine Restaurant. Come on over."
Li Yang felt a headache coming on. "Do I have to?"
Li Yang didn’t have the best impression of Xiao Zhen.
"If you don’t come, you can just drop dead!" Xiao Zhen’s annoyed voice came through the phone.
"Just come," Zhao Xuechu said, sounding a bit exasperated. "She wants to thank you for helping her with that dog incident last time. Just get over here."
Li Yang figured she had a point. "Alright, fine," he said. "I’m on my way."
Soon enough, Li Yang arrived at the Xue Chu Medicine Restaurant.
When he went inside, he saw they had already ordered a full spread.
"Over here!" Zhao Xuechu called out. "We already ordered. We got some qi-replenishing medicine cuisine. Come on, have a seat."
The aroma of herbs mingled with the scent of cooked meat, a truly unique combination.
Li Yang sat down.
Xiao Zhen stole a glance at Li Yang before speaking. "Seeing as you’ve been decent the last two times we’ve met, I’ll stop calling you a scumbag from now on."
Li Yang chuckled. "Is that your way of saying thank you?"
"I..." Xiao Zhen still looked indignant.
Li Yang couldn’t be bothered with her and turned to Zhao Xuechu with a mischievous grin. "Miss Zhao, let me ask you something. What’s the most requested type of medicine cuisine you have here?"
"That would be for replenishing qi, dispelling dampness, or clearing heat..." Zhao Xuechu began. "A lot of people ask for that kind of medicine cuisine."
"Has anyone asked for a kidney-tonifying medicine cuisine?" Li Yang asked conspiratorially.
"Aha! So *you’re* the one who wants that kind of dish! You should have just said so!" Xiao Zhen exclaimed as if she’d discovered a new world, pointing at Li Yang. "If you’d said so earlier, I would’ve ordered it for you!"
Li Yang gave her a deadpan look. ’Is there something wrong with this girl’s head?’
"There is a demand for it..." Zhao Xuechu mused. "But... it’s a rather sensitive topic, so very few people ask for it directly."
"I was looking around when I came in," Li Yang said. "I noticed a lot of your customers are middle-aged men, right?"
"That’s right," Zhao Xuechu said. "Our prices are on the high side, after all. The dishes are quite expensive, so they’re not something the average person can afford."
