Chapter 130: Chapter 131: Hidden Dragon Manor Is Sealed
’With so many people, it’s actually a little hard to choose.’
"How about this? Uncle Hua, Brother Jiansheng, you two come forward," Li Yang said, pointing to two simple, honest-looking men.
Everyone else was stunned, left speechless.
"Xiaoyang, us?" The older of the two, Li Hua, was overwhelmed by the favor.
"Uncle Hua, isn’t Xiaoyan preparing for her college exams? I heard her grades are great, so she’s sure to get in. When that time comes, you’ll need a lot of money for tuition," Li Yang said with a smile.
The others immediately fell silent.
"Xiaoyang, thank you, I really mean it!" Li Hua said, his face full of gratitude.
"Don’t be a stranger. And Brother Jiansheng, come on, let’s go check out how to use the machines. To all my fellow villagers, I’m sorry, but I only have two spots right now. The next time my factory is hiring, we’ll talk again, alright?"
The others didn’t have any objections. Li Hua and Li Jiansheng both came from some of the poorer families in the village. You couldn’t very well compete with them for the opportunity, so everyone kept quiet.
After the crowd dispersed, Li Yang led the two men to the village committee office.
"Uncle Hua, come take a look. Here are the three machines. One is for making fish feed, one for chicken feed, and the last one for duck feed. I’ll give you three formulas, all for standard feeds. You’ll just need to follow the ratios in the recipes to make the feed. It’s all pretty simple, nothing too complicated. After you’re done with that, there’s also a packaging machine here. You’ll have to package the feed properly and store it in the warehouse. Oh, and you need to keep a careful count of all our feed. We can’t afford to lose any."
"No problem!" The two large men nodded repeatedly, already overjoyed.
"Come, come, give it a try..." Li Yang said with a smile.
Soon, they were trying it out.
This type of machine was relatively simple. It hardly required any instruction, and they got the hang of it quickly.
"Alright, you two get familiar with things here. We can’t start production for a few days anyway. We have to wait until the village committee office is repaired, then we can move the machines in and get started. Right, I also need to go buy some raw materials, so I’ll leave you to it."
After saying goodbye, Li Yang immediately prepared to go buy some raw materials.
The raw materials for these feeds weren’t all that different from each other. They were mostly corn-based, with some fish meal or broken rice added in. Only the ratios were different.
What he needed to buy now was corn—a whole lot of corn.
Having made up his mind, Li Yang immediately went to the township.
He remembered there used to be a shop in the township that specialized in selling corn, but he didn’t know if they’d have enough in stock now.
He drove his pickup truck over to ask and found that they no longer sold corn in bulk. That meant he would have to go to the city.
Li Yang immediately prepared to head into the city.
Just as he started the car, he got a call from Shang Hongyun.
"Where are you? You have to come see this! The people from the commerce bureau came. They said I’m illegally selling medicinal liquor, that there’s a problem with it. They’ve already had the place sealed. I can’t even do business anymore."
"What!" Li Yang was stunned. "Wait right there. I’m on my way."
When Li Yang arrived at Hidden Dragon Manor, the place was in an uproar.
The manor’s entrance was sealed up tight, with official strips of paper plastered across it.
The proprietress stood outside, her eyes red-rimmed, looking like she was about to burst into tears.
"What happened?" Li Yang strode forward.
Seeing Li Yang, the proprietress almost started crying for real. She wiped her face and said, "They said I was selling medicinal liquor, that it was a non-compliant product, and they just sealed up my business."
’Damn it!’
Li Yang’s expression hardened. "This isn’t that simple. Someone’s definitely pulling strings behind the scenes. How about this? You calm down first. Actually, just go home. I’ll take care of this, okay?"
"Can you really?" The proprietress was uneasy. "I’m just afraid it can’t be resolved. Wouldn’t all my hard work have been for nothing?"
"Don’t worry, it can be resolved!" Li Yang said earnestly. "I’m here, there’s nothing to be afraid of. You go home and get some rest. I’ll go take care of this right away."
For some reason, Li Yang’s words made the proprietress feel a wave of relief. "Well, call me if you have any news."
"Don’t worry, I’ll keep you updated."
After sending the proprietress on her way, Li Yang immediately called Shen Xu.
"I need you to look into Hidden Dragon Manor for me..." Li Yang said seriously. "It’s my friend’s manor, run by a woman on her own. She helped me sell some medicinal liquor for a few days, and now the commerce bureau has sealed her place. I feel like something’s not right about this. Can you help me find out what’s really going on?"
"Alright, hang on. I’ll look into it for you right now."
By lunchtime, Li Yang and Shen Xu were sitting down together.
"I found something!" Shen Xu began. "Someone reported it. The person who made the complaint is actually pretty well-known. His name is He Weiweng. Do you know him?"
"Damn it, it’s that old bastard!" Li Yang slammed his hand on the table and cursed.
