Chapter 400: Chapter 397: Rescue

In an instant, a torrent of Secret Techniques and a rain of arrows blotted out the sky, the air thrumming with violent energy fluctuations.

The two squads were clearly struggling against such a large-scale assault, overwhelmed by both the disparity in ranks and the sheer number of enemies.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Ice shards, waves of fire, Sword Qi, streaks of light... Countless dazzling magical radiances crisscrossed the sky above the camp.

Of course, the two elite squads weren’t just going to take it lying down. Led by Xie Kuangfeng and Tu Xiaoshan, numerous close-combat and defensive students charged forward. Their Gang Qi flowed and converged, forming a pale-white barrier shield.

Meanwhile, the ranged Mages, led by Li Mufeng, were not idle either. They mercilessly unleashed light projectiles, volleys of arrows, and Secret Techniques upon the enemy.

Within minutes, the battle had reached a deadlock.

"Make way, make way! Master Fatty is back!"

At the critical moment, Zhang Meng, having fully restored his Magic Power, let out a wild laugh and unleashed his Five-Legacy Fusion Secret Technique.

Just like before, a dark shadow erupted and quickly split into five black figures, trapping a large group of Celestial Eagle Team Mages within a Pentagram Array.

Then, following the movements of the five black figures, the enemies inside the Pentagram Array were instantly annihilated.

Feng Hao’s group arrived just in time to witness this astonishing scene. But the situation was urgent, and they had no time for awe. The seven of them leaped from the flying vehicle one by one.

BOOM!

Xiyue Frost was the first to charge, landing right in the middle of the enemy formation. As she slammed down her greatsword, ten thousand ice spikes erupted from the ground, sending the surrounding enemies into chaos.

At the same time, a flash of sword light tore through the crowd, cutting down countless foes with a whistle.

"Hehehe, I’m here!" Of course, Xi Yueyao wasn’t about to miss such a chance to show off. Waving her Golden Long Whip, she charged forward and began lashing out wildly, a total stranger to fear.

On the other side, Bai Yin and Li Haoyang were not idle. They locked onto the leading Sixth-rank Mages, unleashing gales of fire and meteor-like arrows.

As for Man Tiaotiao, he had already plunged into the enemy ranks, his fists a blur of lightning. He looked as if he were possessed by Yip Man himself.

"Haha, Boss, you guys are just in time! Did you see that move? Awesome, right?" Zhang Meng ran up excitedly, eager for praise.

Feng Hao didn’t rush into battle. He immediately ran over to Xie Kuangfeng and the others, his brow furrowed. "Forget about that for now. The rescue is our priority. Where are Dean Sun and Miao Feng?"

"I scouted the area with Li Ying earlier," Li Mufeng answered. "They’re in the tent at the southwest corner. There’s a dungeon beneath it."

"Alright. You guys hold them off out here while I go in for the rescue," Feng Hao said with a thoughtful nod. "Be ready to provide cover and support when we come out."

"There are so many Evil Cult Mages. Can you really fight your way in?" Xie Kuangfeng asked with a frown.

Feng Hao gave a slight smile. "Don’t worry. I have a stealth Secret Technique."

With that, he activated Shadow Meld right before Xie Kuangfeng’s stunned eyes and crept swiftly toward the tent in the southwest corner.

Seeing Feng Hao disappear right under his nose, Xie Kuangfeng couldn’t help but marvel, "I have to say, the Shadow legacy of the Thief God Hall is perfectly suited for this kind of fighting."

"You bet! We of the Thief God Hall are powerful!" Zhang Meng said, his face beaming with pride.

Xie Kuangfeng chuckled, at a loss for words. He brandished his Light Blade and, with a boost from the propulsion units in his leg armor, charged back into the fray.

...

Meanwhile, under the dual concealment of his Black-Pupil and Shadow Meld abilities, Feng Hao moved as if through an unguarded realm. He easily evaded the notice of the Celestial Eagle Team Mages and slipped into the southwest encampment.

In the dungeon below, Sun Yaowen sat cross-legged in his cell, his expression placid. Special Soul-Locking Shackles were clasped around his wrists.

These Soul-Locking Shackles were tools designed specifically for Mage prisoners. Once worn, they could sever the connection between one’s Divine Sense and their Genetic Tree, completely suppressing a Mage’s abilities.

Nearby, Miao Feng was in the same predicament. Unlike Sun Yaowen, however, his composure was far from calm.

"Master Sun, I advise you to hand over the data on the magic toxin antibody. It’ll save you a world of pain," a Seventh Rank Mage in a steward’s uniform threatened coldly from outside the cell.

Feng Hao recognized this Seventh Rank Mage; it was the very same Seventh Rank Steward that Zhang Meng and his group had encountered during the ambush.

Sun Yaowen remained exceptionally calm in the face of the Seventh Rank Steward’s threat. "I will never hand over the magic toxin formula to scum like you."

"Don’t be a fool!" the Seventh Rank Steward snorted. "You can’t possibly think those brats upstairs can save you, can you?"

"Heh. While I may not know what’s happening outside, the very fact that those ’brats’ fought their way here tells me the situation in Five States City is looking up. In other words, your days are numbered," Sun Yaowen sneered.

"What a joke. The Celestial Eagle Team and the True God Sect have brought a host of experts this time. Even if all five major sects were to unite against us, it would be useless."

At these words, Sun Yaowen’s brow furrowed. He gritted his teeth and demanded, "What is it you truly want? If it’s just the magic toxin antibody, I’ll go with you. Why must you drag the citizens of Five States City into this?"

"You give yourself too much credit," the Seventh Rank Mage said, his eyes filled with contempt. "The magic toxin antibody alone isn’t worth us mobilizing so many experts."

"Then what is it? Is it because of that ancient legend?" Sun Yaowen asked, his brow tightening.

"Oh? You know quite a bit, don’t you?" The Seventh Rank Mage sounded slightly surprised. "As far as I know, there are very few people left who know of that legend."

Sun Yaowen said furiously, "Damn you! Was it really necessary to drag the people of Five States City into this for the sake of some far-fetched legend?!"

"That’s none of your concern. Your only value is the magic toxin antibody. And even if you don’t talk, it doesn’t matter. Once this is all over, the Saint Master will personally search your memories," the Seventh Rank Mage said with a smirk.

"Shameless!" Sun Yaowen roared in fury.

"Hahaha! And what if I am? When the time comes, the entire Ancient Cang Realm will be ours. Who will dare call us shameless then?" The Seventh Rank Mage broke into a maniacal laugh.

Unfortunately, his maniacal laughter was cut short by a sudden glint of cold light.

SHLICK!

A string of terrifying damage numbers appeared, and the Seventh Rank Mage instantly lost consciousness. He collapsed to the ground, eyes wide with shock, dead before he even knew what had hit him.

As he fell, a shimmering figure gradually materialized—it was Feng Hao, who had been hiding in wait.

’Tsk, tsk. Divine Soul Weapons really are something else. Even I’m shocked by that damage,’ Feng Hao thought in amazement as he retracted his Su Mu Dagger. He then turned to Sun Yaowen and Miao Feng in the cell. "Old man, Xiaomiaozi, I’m here to rescue you!"

"Sen... Senior Brother?!" Miao Feng was so excited he nearly let the truth slip.

But when Sun Yaowen saw Feng Hao, his face was a mask of pure frustration. "You little bastard, what are you doing here? Do you have any idea how dangerous this place is?"

"What the hell? I went through all this trouble to save your ass, and this is the attitude I get?" Feng Hao was speechless with exasperation.

"You! You! You!" Sun Yaowen sputtered, fuming. "Do you have any idea how important you are? I’m an old man; it doesn’t matter if I die. But as long as you’re alive, the monster research can continue! If you die here too, then all the data on the magic toxin antibody will be lost forever, don’t you understand!"

Hearing this, Feng Hao finally understood where Sun Yaowen was coming from, and he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
