Chapter 450: Not Necessarily the Biological Dad, but Definitely the Biological Mom
Chapter 450: Chapter 450: Not Necessarily the Biological Dad, but Definitely the Biological Mom
’My life is so miserable now, and it’s all because of that bitch.’
’Now I have to get my revenge. Killing one will let me break even. Any more than that is a bonus.’
’That bitch, Xu Yingying. She wouldn’t have a child with me for so many years, but now she’s had some foreign bastard’s kid.’
’It wasn’t that she couldn’t have children. She just didn’t want to have them with me!’
’If she and I had a child, why would I have gone to such lengths to have one with someone else?’
’If I hadn’t had a child with someone else, would our marriage have ever fallen apart?’
’If our marriage hadn’t fallen apart, I’d still be the son-in-law of the Xu family.’
’Even if I couldn’t get shares in the Xu family’s business, Xu Yingying could, and my child could.’
’Not only that, I could have become a senior executive at the Xu Group.’
’Money, women... I would’ve had everything I could ever want.’
’I absolutely wouldn’t be like this—a stray dog, forced to change my face, becoming hideously ugly, destitute, and only able to do dirty, demeaning work.’
’I originally thought that by kidnapping Xu Yingying and making it look like she died, I could not only get a huge ransom but also her inheritance.’
’But I never, ever expected to fail in Japan.’
’I became a wanted fugitive in Japan and fled to Southeast Asia. I spent all my money on plastic surgery.’
’I didn’t know the language, I was in a strange place without any connections, and I didn’t even have a respectable identity. There was just no way to survive there.’
’After thinking it over and over, my only option was to be smuggled back into the country.’
’It’s all that meddling Han Xiaorui’s fault.’
’Perfect. They’re all here today. I’ll kill them all together.’
He put his mask back on, straightened his clothes, picked up his cleaning tools, and began to clean the hospital rooms.
Soon, he arrived at Xu Yingying’s room.
Sister Lian opened the door and let the janitor in.
At that moment, the caregiver was helping Xu Yingying in the bathroom.
During childbirth yesterday, she had to have an episiotomy because the baby was rather large.
Now, it was excruciatingly painful when she tried to urinate.
The caregiver patiently comforted her. "The hospital has given you very good medicine; you’ll recover quickly. Think about it, isn’t the pain a little less severe than last night?"
Xu Yingying nodded. "Yes, it is!"
The caregiver smiled. "By noon and then this evening, it’ll be even better. It will keep getting easier. When it’s hard, think of your baby. Just grit your teeth and you’ll get through it."
Xu Yingying nodded. "Sister Liu, what you’re saying makes a lot of sense!"
The caregiver smiled. "A woman may be weak, but a mother is strong."
The male janitor was cleaning, his eyes darting toward the baby in the bassinet from time to time.
Han Xiaorui stood beside the bassinet and looked up at the male janitor.
Wen Tao was about to try and grab the baby. Just as he was about to put down his broom and make his move, Han Xiaorui pushed the bassinet to the other side of the room.
Wen Tao was startled. He couldn’t follow the bassinet to that side to continue cleaning.
He had already cleaned that side of the bed; going over there now would make his intentions obvious.
After a moment’s thought, Wen Tao could only give up.
He finished cleaning on his side and walked toward the bathroom.
Han Xiaorui warned him, "Someone’s in the bathroom. Wait a moment!"
Not only that, but Han Xiaorui also gave Sister Lian a meaningful look, and Sister Lian pushed the bassinet behind her.
She walked toward the male janitor.
Sister Lian muttered, "How strange. Can’t they find any female janitors to clean the maternity ward?"
After all, the people giving birth here are women, not men.
Wen Tao was afraid that if he spoke, Sister Lian would recognize his voice. Fearing he would be exposed, he waited obediently by the bathroom door.
Just then, Xu Yingying came out of the bathroom.
Wen Tao threw down the broom in his hands and lunged, grabbing Xu Yingying by the throat.
Xu Yingying was weak and slow-moving from the pain of childbirth.
Wen Tao seized her with ease. "You bitch! I’m going to take you down with me today!"
This time, Wen Tao didn’t deliberately lower his voice. Both his tone and inflection were somewhat similar to how he used to sound.
Hearing his words, Xu Yingying was stunned. "You’re Wen Tao?"
Wen Tao said viciously, "That’s right! It’s because of you I’m like this now. I have to kill you, or I’ll never be able to rest in peace."
Han Xiaorui instructed Sister Lian, "Quick, take the baby to the doctor’s office! It’s not safe here."
Sister Lian was in a panic. Hearing this, she said, "Xiao Rui, you have to save Miss Yingying."
Han Xiaorui nodded. "Okay. With you and the baby here, my hands are tied. If Wen Tao goes crazy and hurts the baby, then we’re really finished."
Sister Lian snapped back to her senses a little, pushed the bassinet out the door, and made a beeline for the doctor’s office.
After seeing the baby was out, Han Xiaorui moved closer and closer to Wen Tao and Xu Yingying.
Wen Tao now had his back to the window, his hand gripping Xu Yingying’s throat.
However, it seemed he still had a lot to say and hadn’t used his full strength yet.
Xu Yingying clawed at Wen Tao’s hands with both of hers. "Wen Tao, you have no conscience! If you hadn’t betrayed our marriage, if you hadn’t betrayed me, why would I have divorced you?"
"After the divorce, with your abilities, you could have lived a stable life even if you didn’t become fabulously wealthy. But what did you do? You kidnapped me, even tried to kill me."
"Heaven has eyes. It won’t let a cruel, ungrateful, and vicious person like you succeed. Instead of hiding, you actually came back to try and murder me."
Wen Tao was furious and flustered. "It’s all your fault! Everything is your fault! If you could have had a child, why would I have had one with another woman?"
Xu Yingying trembled with rage. The man was absolutely shameless. It was always someone else’s fault; he was never to blame for anything.
Han Xiaorui crept closer.
Just then, Wen Tao noticed Han Xiaorui approaching and yelled, "Stop! One more step and I’ll snap her neck!"
Han Xiaorui had no choice but to stop. She decided to provoke Wen Tao with her words, looking for a chance to save Xu Yingying.
"Wen, you said my aunt couldn’t have children, but don’t forget where you are. This is a maternity ward! My aunt just gave birth to a big, healthy baby boy last night!"
"Have you ever considered that maybe *you’re* the one who can’t have kids? After all, you have a perfect example right in front of you. You can’t fake this!"
The caregiver finally understood what was happening and chimed in from the side, "Young man, you’re being completely unreasonable! In this world, a father might not be the real father, but a mother is always the real mother."
Han Xiaorui was taken aback for a second. ’Those are words of absolute wisdom!’
"That’s right. The father can be mistaken, but a child comes out of its mother’s belly. The mom is definitely the biological one, but the dad is a different story."
"Especially you. You were abroad for a long time, only came back twice in all those years, and suddenly you have two sons. Is there really such a coincidence in the world? Your mistress just happened to get pregnant the exact two times you came back?"
Wen Tao’s expression changed drastically at her words. "But those two kids look a lot like me!"
Han Xiaorui smiled. "Have you ever heard the saying that a child’s appearance changes drastically as they grow up? Maybe they don’t look like you anymore!"
Wen Tao blinked, thinking hard. He had secretly gone to see the children before.
At the time, he had even muttered to himself, ’Why are the kids starting to look less and less like me?’
