Chapter 451: Chapter 451: A Mother’s Love is Truly Great

"Impossible! Absolutely impossible!" Wen Tao couldn’t, and wouldn’t, believe it.

In his current predicament, the only comfort he had was his two sons.

But now, it was highly likely that those two sons weren’t even his.

’Wouldn’t all his years of scheming and hiding make him a complete joke?’

Han Xiaorui continued to provoke Wen Tao. "I bet you don’t know, do you? Your little mistress has already found another rich man!"

"Did you really think someone like her would stay faithful to you? Besides, the kids aren’t yours. With no money to tie you together, she won’t give you the time of day."

While Han Xiaorui was speaking, Xu Yingying looked at her and opened her mouth, as if trying to bite Wen Tao’s hand.

Just then, the caregiver had a pen in her pocket.

With her hand still in her pocket, she uncapped the pen. Seizing the moment while Wen Tao was agitated and distracted, she stabbed it forcefully into his hand.

Wen Tao’s hand flared with pain, and as a reflex, he released his grip on Xu Yingying’s neck.

Xu Yingying scrambled away, but she was so weak that she collapsed to the floor.

Han Xiaorui lunged forward like a pouncing tiger. She threw a kick that connected squarely with Wen Tao’s head.

Wen Tao’s body and head slammed against the window. The glass cracked, and blood from his head splattered across the pane.

Wen Tao crumpled to the floor, his eyes full of resentment.

The sturdy caregiver grabbed a nearby chair and smashed it down on Wen Tao, knocking him out cold.

Han Xiaorui rushed to help Xu Yingying up from the floor. "Aunt, are you okay?"

Xu Yingying, still terrified, stammered, "I-I’m okay!"

Han Xiaorui supported Xu Yingying. "Aunt, let’s get you out of here! Sister Liu, thank you so much for today!"

The caregiver, Sister Liu, laughed heartily. "I’ve trained in martial arts since I was a kid. Just means I’m a bit stronger and faster than most."

"You get the new mother out of here first. Have the doctors and nurses arrange a new room. I’ll find something to tie this man up and then clean this place."

Han Xiaorui nodded, "Thank you, Sister Liu."

Just then, doctors, nurses, and hospital security rushed in.

The medical staff arranged for a new room and examined Xu Yingying.

Security took Wen Tao into custody and handed him over to the police.

The hospital director came to apologize personally, expressing his shock that such an incident could occur at their hospital.

Although Xu Yingying was shaken, she was unharmed. Since the baby was also fine, she didn’t want to press charges.

Xu Yingying expressed her gratitude. "Xiao Rui, thank you for today! If it weren’t for you, Little Treasure and I wouldn’t have made it out of this."

Han Xiaorui smiled. "We’re family. You were in danger, so of course I was going to help! The person we should really be thanking today is our caregiver, Sister Liu."

By then, Sister Liu had already cleaned the adjacent room, but the broken window was still under repair.

Xu Yingying recalled how Sister Liu had been so quick-witted and calm at the critical moment. She had seized the perfect opportunity to stab Wen Tao’s hand, creating the opening for Xiao Rui to subdue him.

"Sister Liu is our savior, too. I’ll have to reward her generously later. I should even present her with a commendatory banner."

Han Xiaorui nodded in agreement. "Good deeds should be rewarded. We certainly can’t let Sister Liu’s efforts go unappreciated."

Just then, Xu Yingying had an idea. "I heard Sister Liu say that being a caregiver doesn’t pay very well, and it’s only a temporary position. The fact that she would risk her own safety to help someone proves what a good person she is."

"She’s been so attentive taking care of me since this morning. She’s very experienced, and she even helps Sister Lian with the baby. What if I offer Sister Liu a high salary to be my baby’s nanny?"

Han Xiaorui considered this. "We’d have to see if Sister Liu is interested. If she is, that would be perfect."

"It’s so hard to find a reliable nanny these days. Plus, Sister Liu is a trained martial artist. She’s skilled, can fight, and she’s also great with babies."

Xu Yingying smiled. "That’s exactly what I like about her! When there’s danger, she’s more capable than most."

Han Xiaorui nodded. "Let’s be discreet about it. I’ll find a chance to talk to Sister Liu first."

"Sister Lian is helping you with the baby right now. If she goes back to the Xu family home, then I’ll hire Sister Liu to help with my baby."

Xu Yingying waved her hand. "Don’t go to all that trouble. Sister Lian has been looking after your baby for over three months now. She’s already got the hang of it, so there’s no need to switch people."

"I feel like it was fate that brought me and Sister Liu together. I’ll hire her to help with my baby. Since she knows martial arts, she can even teach Little Treasure when he’s older."

Since Xu Yingying put it that way, Han Xiaorui didn’t object. "Okay, then. Thank you, Aunt."

Han Xiaorui wanted to tell her grandparents and Ye Feng what happened right away, but Xu Yingying stopped her.

"My parents and Ye Feng were up all night. Let them get some rest. We can tell them when they come to the hospital later."

"Besides, the baby and I are both fine now. If they came, they would just worry and wouldn’t be able to rest properly."

Han Xiaorui sat by the bed, next to the infant’s crib. "Okay. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll stay right here and watch over things. Aunt, you should try not to worry. Just get some sleep."

Xu Yingying was so exhausted her eyelids felt heavy, but she couldn’t relax enough to stop worrying about her baby.

"I want to sleep, but every time I close my eyes, I see him being snatched away. My heart starts pounding, and I can’t fall asleep."

Han Xiaorui was taken aback. "Not even if I’m right here watching?"

Xu Yingying shook her head. "No. I think I’m just too traumatized."

Han Xiaorui scratched her head. "But you can’t go on without sleep! Even a body made of iron couldn’t handle it. What if I ask the doctor to prescribe something to help you sleep?"

Xu Yingying shook her head. "I can’t take any medication, or Little Treasure won’t have any milk. Don’t worry about me. I can manage."

Hearing this made Han Xiaorui’s heart ache. As a mother herself, she could empathize completely—the desire to give your child the absolute best, even at your own expense.

The caregiver, Sister Liu, suggested, "Why don’t you hold the baby close? Keep him right in the crook of your arm. That way, no one can snatch him from you!"

Both Han Xiaorui and Xu Yingying were taken aback by the suggestion. "Aunt, why don’t you give it a try?"

Xu Yingying nodded. "Alright, I’ll scoot over."

Just like that, the little baby lay beside his mother, with Xu Yingying’s arm protectively wrapped around him, cradling his head.

Sister Liu checked on them. "That’s perfect. He’s lying flat on his back. Just don’t get too close, so you don’t accidentally roll onto him."

Xu Yingying smiled and nodded, "Okay!"

And so, Xu Yingying closed her eyes, holding her baby. Before long, the sound of her deep, peaceful breathing filled the room.

Han Xiaorui gave Sister Liu a thumbs-up. "Sister Liu, you’re so experienced and quick-thinking."

Sister Liu smiled. "You see enough of it, you pick up a few things."

Han Xiaorui asked quietly, "Sister Liu, how much do you make a month working as a caregiver here?"
