The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao
Chapter 361: There Will Be an Opportunity
Unlike Bai Xiaoqing's shock and disbelief, the sturdy thug was utterly baffled.
He paid no mind to the blood on his face or his knocked-out teeth, running over to his electric scooter and staring blankly at the vehicle, which had been smashed to pieces.
"Motherfucker, did I just see a ghost in broad daylight?"
He'd been riding along just fine a moment ago, even fantasizing about the wonderful scene of getting it on in the car at the repair shop. Then, out of nowhere, he was sent flying!
It was as if someone had smacked him hard across the face from the side!
The sturdy thug touched his slightly red and swollen cheek, a chill running down his spine.
'I just can't figure it out!'
"Boss, you... you lost a tooth!"
one of his underlings asked with concern.
The sturdy thug grunted twice. He racked his brain but still couldn't understand what had happened. In the end, he gave up, tossed the broken scooter aside, and got into his underling's car.
"You drive me there. Xiaojiu, you go up front and lead the way!"
"You got it!"
Although the underlings didn't understand why their boss had suddenly taken a spill on flat ground, it wasn't them who had fallen, so they didn't give it much thought.
The vehicles started up again, and Chen Erbao followed leisurely behind the group.
"Sister Xiaoqing, you believe me now, right? This isn't magic, it's Inner Strength! You've read martial arts novels, haven't you?"
Chen Erbao boasted smugly.
Bai Xiaoqing felt as if her entire worldview had been shattered. Her mind was struggling to process it all.
"You... you really know kung fu?"
"Didn't you see it with your own eyes!"
Bai Xiaoqing didn't understand it, but she was utterly stunned.
She grew excited.
"This is incredible! How on earth did you do that?"
"It's too complicated to explain. If you want to learn, I can teach you. You can start by following my Cultivation of the Inner Power Mental Method."
"Okay!"
Bai Xiaoqing's eyes lit up, and she eagerly awaited Chen Erbao's Inner Power Mental Method.
She even stopped worrying about their impending trip into the thugs' territory.
The group soon turned off onto a dirt road and stopped in front of a repair shop.
Chen Erbao glanced at the grease-stained repair shop, a cold smirk playing on his lips. He said to Bai Xiaoqing,
"Stay in the car and don't move. I'll get out and take care of them."
Bai Xiaoqing said worriedly,
"Er Bao, there are so many of them. You have to be careful..."
"Don't worry. Wiping them all out in one go is the only way to keep others from being extorted in the future."
Chen Erbao pushed open the door, got out of the car, and walked up to the sturdy thug.
The left side of the thug's face was now swollen to the size of an ear of corn, and he spoke with a slight lisp.
"Drive the car in already! What are you doing parked out here?"
He was in a foul mood, but the sight of Bai Xiaoqing in the passenger seat sent a jolt of heat through his lower body.
Chen Erbao sneered.
"This is extortion. Aren't you afraid I'll call the police?"
The sturdy thug froze. 'This kid's only just figured it out?'
"Hahaha! So what if it's extortion? This is my territory now. You'd fucking better do as you're told, or I don't mind putting a few holes in you!"
He threatened Chen Erbao, pulling a gleaming utility knife from his pocket.
Chen Erbao watched him, his expression impassive. "You're their boss?"
The sturdy thug snorted.
"Kid, you talk way too much shit. Now, gi—"
THUMP!
Before the sturdy thug could finish his sentence, his vision went black. He was sent flying once more and lost consciousness.
Chen Erbao still stood in the same spot, and the underlings were still gathered nearby. In a distant trash can, the sturdy thug was wedged headfirst, unconscious.
The group of underlings hadn't seen a thing. One moment their boss was talking, and the next, he had vanished.
After a moment of confused searching, they finally spotted two legs sticking out of the distant trash can.
"Boss! Who the fuck did that!"
The underlings instantly erupted into chaos. Some ran to pull their boss out, while others scanned their surroundings warily.
Chen Erbao had no interest in wasting words on such a bunch of small fry. His figure flashed like lightning through the crowd. In just a few seconds, all the underlings were howling on the ground, their makeshift weapons scattered about.
Chen Erbao grabbed the nearest underling, pinned the man's head to the ground with his foot, and asked coldly,
"That guy was your boss? Do you have any other accomplices?"
Only then did the underling realize they had picked a fight with the wrong person. His voice trembling with terror, he said,
"There are no others, Great Hero! We were wrong!"
Chen Erbao kicked him unconscious, then delivered a finishing blow to each of the others. In the end, all twenty-odd men were out cold.
Chen Erbao piled the men together, found some rope in the repair shop, and tied them all up. After hanging them from a large, nearby tree, he coolly drove away.
Once the deed is done, he brushes his sleeves and departs, leaving his name and fame behind.
...
The rest of the journey was uneventful, and the two of them arrived safely in Mianyang City.
Throughout the rest of the drive, Bai Xiaoqing was still reeling from the sight of Chen Erbao single-handedly taking down a group of thugs. His performance had truly exceeded her expectations. She had thought he was a business genius, but now he had shown her his violent side!
"You... why didn't you call the police?"
Bai Xiaoqing asked, confused, during the drive.
Without turning his head, Chen Erbao replied,
"Sometimes, fighting violence with violence is the best solution. I didn't hold back. They'll be laid up for at least half a year, especially their leader. He probably won't even be able to walk properly after this!"
Seeing that Bai Xiaoqing still seemed confused, Chen Erbao sighed and explained,
"What good would calling the police have done? It's obvious this gang of thugs has been pulling this scam on this road for a long time. You really think no one's ever reported them? The local Patrol might even be in on it with them. Otherwise, they would've been cleared out long ago!"
Hearing Chen Erbao's explanation, Bai Xiaoqing fell silent.
Such a cruel reality was still a bit too much for her to bear.
"I wasn't trying to be some great hero. I just happened to run into them, so I dealt with it. It's no big deal. Don't worry, no one will come looking for trouble."
Chen Erbao had noticed on the way in that the road didn't have a single security camera. He wasn't sure if it was intentional or not.
After arriving in Mianyang City, Chen Erbao found a hotel and booked two rooms. Only then did he call the number Zhao Feng had sent him.
"Mr. Chen, correct? I'm President Zhao's assistant. President Zhao has already given us instructions. May I ask where you are right now?"
Zhao Feng's assistant was very respectful.
"I just arrived in Mianyang City."
"Understood. Please wait a moment. I will have our Mianyang City representative contact you."
After hanging up, Chen Erbao walked to the room next door and knocked on Bai Xiaoqing's door.
When the door opened, Bai Xiaoqing eyed him warily.
"What is it?"
"The food at the rest stop wasn't great. I'm guessing you're still hungry. Want to go grab a proper meal?"
Bai Xiaoqing hesitated for a moment before nodding.
"Just a minute."
Seeing the door close again, Chen Erbao thought to himself, 'She's pretty cautious. Still... there will be a chance sooner or later...'
