The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao

Chapter 360: Your Wish Came True

  • Next Chapter

When the burly man heard how cooperative Chen Erbao was being, his face immediately broke into a wide smile:

"I dropped a lot more than this. How come this is all that's left on the ground? Just pay me three to five thousand, and we'll call it even. Otherwise, I'm gonna have to call the police!"

In truth, they weren't squatting here specifically to extort people. They were waiting for drivers to run over the metal chunk without seeing it, after which they would offer to tow and repair the vehicle.

They owned a repair shop just a short distance down the road.

However…

'Towing the car, patching a tire… charging three to five thousand for that is perfectly normal, right?'

And if a driver happened to spot the metal chunk ahead of time, well, they handled it just like they were doing now.

Chen Erbao weighed the metal chunk in his hand and let out a soft laugh:

"This metal chunk of yours is pretty valuable, huh? Three to five thousand… Why not ask for thirty or fifty thousand? Wouldn't the money come in faster that way?"

The burly man's face fell. He pulled an expandable baton from the back of his waistband, his expression turning sinister:

"Buddy, I'm giving you an out, so you better take it. How about this: I own a repair shop just up the road. For five thousand, drive over there and I'll even wash your car for you. What do you say?"

Chen Erbao paused for a moment:

"A car wash on top of five thousand yuan? You're a real stand-up guy!"

"We're all just trying to make a living out here. It's the local custom. Once you've paid your dues with me, if you run into anyone else up the road, just mention my name. I guarantee they'll leave you alone!"

The burly man shrugged, as if to say this was how things were done and he was already being quite generous.

Chen Erbao nodded. "Five thousand… that's really not much… Do you know what kind of car this is?"

The burly man hesitated and glanced back. He didn't recognize the lettering on the car. 'But damn, the girl in the passenger seat is a real knockout…'

"Don't recognize it. What car is it?"

He was just a low-life from a nearby village who could barely read. What the hell would he know about cars?

Chen Erbao kindly educated him:

"Land Rover. Ever heard of it?"

The burly man looked at the lackeys beside him. "You guys know it?"

"Nope…"

"Never heard of it. Probably some no-name brand…"

"…"

The burly man asked his lackeys, but none of them had heard of it. He started to get impatient:

"Enough with the nonsense. I'll drive you to the repair shop."

'I'll get in the driver's seat,' he thought. 'Let's see just what makes this broad so different from the village widows!'

Normally, he wouldn't dare act so arrogantly. This area wasn't far from the city, after all, and if he had gone too far, he would've been shut down long ago.

In the past, they usually only extorted a thousand or two. Most drivers didn't want trouble and would just pay to get it over with. The few stubborn ones who refused would get a beating, which usually made them compliant.

The only reason he'd quoted Chen Erbao five thousand was that he expected him to bargain. He never imagined Chen Erbao wouldn't even try to negotiate.

Chen Erbao tossed the metal chunk aside and nodded:

"Alright, I'll go with you. Let's go."

The burly man was inwardly delighted. He eagerly ordered his lackeys to clear away the metal chunks while he ran to the front of the car:

"You get in the back. I'll drive."

Chen Erbao looked at him, his face devoid of expression:

"You're too filthy. This car is worth one or two million. Why don't you just lead the way?"

Hearing this, the burly man's anger flared.

'Fuck, calling me dirty?'

"You fucking… Wait, how much?"

He snapped back to his senses and stared blankly at Chen Erbao.

"Two million. Are you worthy of sitting in it?"

Chen Erbao looked at him with contempt.

A thought flashed through the burly man's mind:

'Holy shit, I've hit the jackpot!'

'In the past, the best I ever got were BMWs and Benzes worth a few hundred thousand. Today, I actually ran into a real luxury car!'

'Later, I've got to find a way to squeeze thirty, fifty thousand out of this kid!'

'He can afford a two-million-yuan car. Thirty or fifty thousand for a car wash isn't asking too much, right?'

The burly man thought gleefully, and Chen Erbao's attitude suddenly seemed unimportant.

'Once we get to the shop, I'll be the one in charge anyway, right?'

'Won't let me in the car? Just wait. Not only am I going to ride in it, but I'm also going to screw your woman in it!'

"You're a real piece of work, kid… Fine. Follow me, and don't try anything funny!"

The burly man shot Chen Erbao a vicious glare, then had one of his lackeys push an electric scooter out from a cornfield and gestured for Chen Erbao to follow.

The rest of the lackeys also got on their scooters, forming a perimeter around Chen Erbao's car and boxing him in.

Chen Erbao glanced in front of and behind him, then sneered. He got in the car and slowly started the engine.

"Er Bao, let's just call the police!"

Bai Xiaoqing had never encountered a scene like this in her life. She was terrified and said worriedly.

Chen Erbao smiled and gave Bai Xiaoqing's smooth thigh a reassuring pat:

"Don't worry, I've got this handled. When we get to their territory, I'm curious to see just how many of these scumbags they have!"

When Bai Xiaoqing heard that Chen Erbao was actually planning to go to their turf, she grew even more anxious:

"You… they have so many men! Please don't try to be a hero. Let's just call the police!"

"Relax. Haven't I told you I've studied Martial Arts?"

"…"

Hearing that only made Bai Xiaoqing more frantic. She assumed Chen Erbao was just posturing for her. She'd met plenty of guys like that back in school, always looking for an opportunity to show off in her presence.

"Er Bao, this isn't a joke! You're still young, you don't realize how vicious people can be. The law isn't as strict out here in the countryside. If something happens to us, we won't even have time to call for help… Please, listen to me and call the police!"

"…"

Chen Erbao sighed, speechless. He raised his right hand in front of Bai Xiaoqing's eyes and snapped his fingers.

SNAP!

A ball of searing flame flared into existence. The flickering firelight reflected in Bai Xiaoqing's eyes, illuminating her shocked expression.

"Th… You know magic tricks too?"

Chen Erbao extinguished the flame and looked at her, exasperated, before explaining:

"What magic trick? This is Martial Arts! You can think of it as Inner Strength!"

Bai Xiaoqing fell silent for a moment, then she looked at him as if he were an idiot, her voice filled with pity:

"Er Bao, is the stress from the company getting to be too much? You… don't worry, I'll be sure to help you manage everything!"

"…"

Chen Erbao's face darkened.

He thought for a moment, then pointed at the burly man riding the scooter up ahead and said:

"What kind of fall do you think would be most satisfying to see him take?"

Bai Xiaoqing followed his gaze, her brow furrowed.

The way the burly man had leered at her earlier had filled her with disgust.

"What do you mean?"

"Just humor me!"

"It'd be best if he crashed into the cornfield beside us and knocked all his teeth out!"

Bai Xiaoqing cursed, with uncharacteristic viciousness.

Chen Erbao nodded. "Watch closely."

He extended a finger and flicked it in the direction of the burly man's back.

Bai Xiaoqing watched, confused.

She saw the burly man, who had been riding steadily down the middle of the road, suddenly wobble. His entire body was flung sideways as if by an invisible force. The electric scooter crashed to the ground with a CLANG, while the man himself went flying, plunging headfirst into the cornfield.

"AHH…"

The burly man's agonized scream, along with the shocked shouts of his lackeys, came from outside the car.

"Your wish came true. Now do you believe I know Martial Arts?"

Bai Xiaoqing stared, dumbfounded, as the lackeys helped the burly man out of the field. His face was covered in blood, and several of his front teeth were gone!
