Chapter 1094 - Combined Dragon Breath

Han Wu’s Dragon Fear caught the Battle Dragon Emperor off guard. Its purity rivaled her own from Han Wu. She knew Han Wu had ascended to the rank of a Dragon Emperor, but she hadn’t expected him to reach her level the instant he completed his transformation.

Growth of that magnitude was worthy of a prodigy, which in turn made him an even more exciting opponent. The Battle Dragon Emperor ignored her wounds and unleashed her own Dragon Fear at Han Wu. She wanted to go all out and enjoy a good fight.

Han Wu was dumbfounded. He knew the Battle Dragon Emperor had a few screws loose, but he hadn’t realized it was this bad. She was battered and bleeding, yet she still wanted to fight with her own ally.

Something’s seriously wrong with her head, Han Wu grumbled inwardly.

The Jade Dragon Emperor stepped in and used its power to form a jade barrier around the Battle Dragon Emperor. It healed her wounds while keeping her contained. It also had enough of her erratic outbursts.

The Battle Dragon Emperor’s fight was over for now, but below them, the Great Dragon forces were still locked in combat with the endless insect swarms. Under the insects’ near-infinite numbers, many Great Dragons died every moment. Against a species of that scale, very few races could hope to hold the line.

“Leave the rest to me. I’ll wear them down,” Han Wu told the Jade Dragon Emperor.

The Jade Dragon Emperor was worried. It could see that the insects were waging a war of attrition. Pouring energy into those swarms would leave Han Wu vulnerable to the stronger insects waiting for an opening. Still, after seeing Han Wu’s confidence, the Jade Dragon Emperor let him go and provided cover from the shadows.

Han Wu smiled because he already had the perfect counter for this horde. He activated his Slaughter Jurisdiction and used its Slaughter Barrier. The barrier covered a large area and trapped numerous insects inside. He then set its rules to allow entry but prevent escape. With insects constantly pouring in, his supply of enemies would never run dry.

Inside the barrier, a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood materialized. Every opponent Han Wu had ever killed rose from the ground. Meanwhile, the sea of blood forged weapons for them, and the corpses tore into the insect swarm. Those corpses couldn’t die. As long as a single limb remained, they would keep fighting.

Han Wu sat atop the mountain of corpses overlooking the sea of blood and the battlefield below. Inside this Slaughter Barrier, he was the God. He also released several powerful fighters from his divine realm. They needed real combat to turn their training insights into true strength.

Sword God Akanzor was the most compatible with the Slaughter Barrier. After consuming Carnage’s Gene Catalyst, Akanzor was ecstatic to face the seemingly endless insect tide. Carnage amplified his attacks with crushing force. Insects fell in droves under his blade. With every kill, Akanzor grew stronger. He was already on the verge of breaking through to the Subcosm rank.

Han Wu summoned Steely as well. Under the former’s guidance, Steely had begun comprehending his Gene Catalyst. Live combat was the only true test of his progress. Obsidrum blades formed under Steely’s control and carved through the insect swarms. He even managed to unleash techniques through the blades for even greater devastation.

Hammie also emerged. He was brimming with excitement, but not because of the fighting. He loved forging, and the dead insects littering the battlefield contained parts that would make excellent crafting materials. The entire Scorching Dwarf tribe threw themselves into harvesting materials amid the chaos.

Han Wu worried that the insects would overwhelm them, so he summoned the minotaurs, Tigermen, Half-Dragons, and other units to help. Hammie was deeply grateful. He swore to Han Wu that he would personally forge a Subcosm Divine Weapon from the harvest.

The Jade Dragon Emperor watched Han Wu’s battle from the shadows in surprise. Great Dragons were proud by nature and rarely envied other species. Yet as Han Wu summoned unit after unit, held nearly half the insect front line by himself, and relieved the pressure on the Great Dragon forces, the Jade Dragon Emperor couldn’t help but think that the divine realm approach wasn’t bad at all.

Unfortunately, the respite didn’t last. While Han Wu and his forces slaughtered insects by the thousands, the enemy struck back. A Colossal Centipede 100,000 meters long crashed into the Slaughter Barrier.

Its sheer size stunned Han Wu. Even more alarming were the tens of thousands of parasitic insects attached to its exoskeleton. Every one of them was at the Subcosm rank. Their purpose wasn’t to attack; they existed to supply the centipede with energy and provide support when needed.

“Human, why do you obstruct the insects?” the Colossal Centipede asked in the human tongue after crashing into the barrier. Its voice boomed like a bell and echoed from every direction with such force that Han Wu’s head throbbed.

Several of Han Wu’s weaker units lost consciousness under the reverberating voice. Thankfully, none were so weak that their heads burst on the spot.

Han Wu ordered the weaker units to retreat to his divine realm, then faced the Colossal Centipede.

“I am the Defiant Dragon Emperor of the Great Dragons!” he declared. “Your insects killed my kin. What did my kin do to deserve such punishment?”

With a single sentence, he pinned the hostility on the Great Dragons. That would prevent the insects from targeting the Divine Civilization later.

The centipede didn’t buy it. Han Wu was clearly a human. There was no way he could be a Dragon Emperor of the Great Dragons. It had never even heard of the Defiant Dragon Emperor.

Han Wu stopped hiding. He activated Dragonification and assumed the Defiant Dragon Emperor form. All nine dragon heads roared in unison, and a terrifying wave of Dragon Fear radiated outward.

Only then did the centipede realize that Han Wu was telling the truth.

“The Great Dragons have bullied and humiliated my kind for ages! Killing a few Great Dragons is nothing! Since you’re a Dragon Emperor, I’ll settle the old debts through you!” The centipede’s voice thundered across the battlefield as it charged at Han Wu.

Han Wu spread his wings and soared into the sky. His nine dragon mouths gathered dragon breaths of different elemental attributes; his nine pairs of Demonfire Eyes channeled nine different hybrid Demonfires into the dragon breaths; and his nine pairs of Radiant Horns fired nine hybrid light beams that fused with them as well.

The result was a combined dragon breath of unparalleled destructive power. Twenty-seven different types of energy fused into a single devastating blast.

The breath struck the centipede dead-on. The intense energy melted through its chitinous exoskeleton, and the centipede shrieked in agony as it thrashed wildly across the ground. Its enormous frame shook the earth with every violent movement.

None of that affected Han Wu. He hovered high above the battlefield, far beyond the reach of the tremors below.

The Jade Dragon Emperor, who was watching from the shadows, was also shaken by the combined dragon breath. A single dragon had unleashed an attack that would normally require twenty-seven Great Dragons working in concert. That kind of talent was unmatched throughout the entire species.

At that moment, the Jade Dragon Emperor became certain of one thing: Han Wu was the Great Dragons’ future.
