The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend
Chapter 1093 - Defiant Dragon Emperor
Every Dragon Emperor received a title upon their birth based on their most defining characteristic The Jade Dragon Emperor, for example, was a Verdant Crystal Dragon. After ascending to the rank of a Dragon Emperor, it gained a body of scales as brilliant as jade. That was why it became known as the Jade Dragon Emperor.
Han Wu’s case was different. He had too many defining traits: nine dragon heads, Demonfire Eyes, Radiant Horns, Battle Heart, iridescent and Jade Scales. On top of all that, the Holy Dragon Power he commanded allowed him to change attributes.
Even the Nine-Faced Dragon God, with all its experience, couldn’t settle on a name. The Jade Dragon Emperor noticed its dilemma and offered a suggestion. “Lord Dragon God, what if we simply call the Defier’s Dragon Emperor form the Defiant Dragon Emperor?”
The Nine-Faced Dragon God’s eyes lit up. The name was perfect. It was direct and tied to Han Wu’s identity as the Defier.
The Nine-Faced Dragon God announced to all Great Dragons present that the fifth Dragon Emperor of the Great Dragon species had been born, and his title was the Defiant Dragon Emperor.
The declaration echoed through the minds of every Great Dragon. In an instant, Han Wu’s name became known to the entire species.
Han Wu felt a surge of energy flood into his dragon form. It resembled Faith Points, but it was denser and more potent. This power subtly enhanced his physical attributes and abilities across the board, pushing his strength in the Defiant Dragon Emperor form straight into the Macrocosm rank.
The Macrocosm rank was the minimum requirement for a Dragon Emperor. The sudden surge in power was overwhelming. Han Wu couldn’t contain himself and unleashed a roar toward the heavens. All nine of his heads looked up, and nine voices thundered in perfect unison. Even without deliberately projecting his aura, its sheer force was enough to cause every Great Dragon below the Dragon Emperor rank cower.
After venting his excitement, Han Wu reverted to his humanoid form. He immediately noticed that his Demon King Transformation had undergone a massive change due to the Defiant Dragon Emperor form.
Under normal circumstances, the Defiant Dragon Emperor form should’ve been the Fifth Stage of his Demon King Transformation. However, its power was so dominant that it had pulled all of Han Wu’s dragon-type transformations out of the ability and consolidated them into an independent ability called Dragonification.
Sitting atop the Dragonification ability was something resembling a Divine Jurisdiction: Dragon Might. Its function was to absorb Faith Points offered by the Great Dragons and continuously strengthen the Dragonification ability. Dragon Might didn’t need further development and already held considerable potential.
Han Wu estimated that with continuous cultivation, it would eventually surpass Jurisdictions like Duel and True Martial.
As for the Demon King Transformation, only the base Demon King form and the incomplete Third Stage Fetterbane Dragonforge remained after the dragon transformations were stripped away. Its quality had taken a significant hit. Thankfully, the ability still existed and it could serve as a foundation for future Jurisdiction integration.
The Jade Dragon Emperor was the first to congratulate him. “Congratulations, Defiant Dragon Emperor!”
The Radiant and the Demonfire Dragon Emperors followed. Only the Battle Dragon Emperor was absent. After asking around, Han Wu learned that she was currently leading a large force of dragons against the insects.
During the year Han Wu had spent absorbing energy for his ascension, the Great Dragons had located the insect nest and launched an all-out war. As the fighting progressed, they discovered that the insect species possessed an even greater population and military strength than their own.
Han Wu was immediately interested. His core race was the locust, a type of insect. Because of the locusts, he had endured a lot of scorn over the years. The notion that insects were inherently weak was deeply ingrained. He had spent a long time developing his core race into its current diversified form. Now, he was curious to see what kind of core strength the enemy insect species possessed to earn such high regard from the Great Dragons.
Han Wu to;d the three Dragon Emperors and the Nine-Faced Dragon God that he wanted to visit the enemy insect species. He also wanted to test his Defiant Dragon Emperor form’s strength.
The Nine-Faced Dragon God agreed and tore open a portal that led directly to the front lines. Accompanied by the Jade Dragon Emperor, Han Wu stepped through the portal and entered the two species’ battlefield.
The world was dark, and the air reeked of rotting flesh and blood. Han Wu quickly realized the darkness wasn’t caused by weather. Countless insects of every type swarmed through the sky, and their sheer numbers blotted out the light.
The sight reminded him of his own tactics. In past battles, he had done the same thing, flooding the sky with insects to overwhelm his opponents psychologically before the fight even started.
“Interesting. Truly interesting,” Han Wu muttered.
He looked into the distance, where the Battle Dragon Emperor was locked in a fierce battle with the insect forces. Savage dragon roars echoed across the battlefield at intervals.
Something about those roars sounded wrong to the Jade Dragon Emperor. It called out to Han Wu, and they rushed toward the Battle Dragon Emperor’s position.
Soon, they arrived at a battlefield covered in corpses. Great Dragon remains lay scattered among vast numbers of dead insects. Han Wu even spotted insect soldiers more massive than the Great Dragons.
Whenever a soldier from either side fell, swarms of carnivorous insects descended and devoured every scrap of flesh, bone, and blood. Even so, the scavengers couldn’t keep pace with the mounting dead.
Up ahead, the Battle Dragon Emperor was locked in combat with an enormous insect. The creature had a head that resembled that of a Great Dragon, a spike-covered carapace, and eight razor-sharp legs that moved with terrifying agility. It could also spit a highly corrosive liquid.
The Battle Dragon Emperor was riddled with holes from the acid. Large patches of her dragon scales had dissolved, leaving her in a wretched state. Nonetheless, her fighting spirit burned brighter than ever. She was like a berserker whose damage output rose as her life force dwindled.
Unfortunately, her opponent clearly possessed a domain that suppressed the Great Dragons. If the fight continued, she would have a sixty percent chance of winning, but she would suffer severe injuries in the process.
Neither Han Wu nor the Jade Dragon Emperor wanted that outcome, so they moved in to relieve some of the pressure.
When the Battle Dragon Emperor spotted them, she wasn’t grateful in the slightest. “You two bastards, don’t interrupt my fight!”
“We’re saving you!” the Jade Dragon Emperor snapped as it activated its Dragon Tongue Magic. The spell, Jade Shield, sent countless jade scales flying outward to form a barrier that blocked every drop of acid the insect spat.
The enemy insect’s domain prevented the Jade Dragon Emperor from releasing its full Macrocosm power.
Han Wu noticed that. Rather than activating Dragonification, he drew Peerless, his Subcosm divine weapon, and swung it. “Stellar Rain!”
A sea of energy blades materialized behind Han Wu and surged toward the massive insect in a torrent. Without Dragonification, Han Wu’s base strength only reached the Mesocosm rank, but Peerless amplified the strike until its power rivaled a Macrocosm technique.
In the next instant, hundreds of millions of energy blades hammered the insect. Unable to withstand the onslaught, it scrambled backward on its eight long legs and vanished in a flash.
The Battle Dragon Emperor’s furious voice rang in Han Wu’s ears. “You let my opponent escape! You owe me!”
Han Wu frowned, and his Dragon Fear erupted, crashing down on the Battle Dragon Emperor.
In the past, he had only been at the Mesocosm rank and couldn’t match the Battle Dragon Emperor, so he had always avoided her. Now that they were both Dragon Emperors. Han Wu had no intention of tolerating her bad temper any longer.
