The Only Cultivator in a World of Hunters
Chapter 180 - The Privilege of the Strong
The rainbow-colored hoodie was so oversized that it almost swallowed the petite figure inside, the vivid patches of color following one another to create an appearance that was somewhat flashy and childish.
It was daytime now, so the reflective effect wasn't clearly visible, but if it were nighttime, Ada's outfit might as well look as bright as a traffic light.
The sleeves were too long, covering her wrists, and the hem was also wider than usual, making her look no different from a girl who had casually thrown on someone else's coat before walking out of a room.
She wore a large pair of headphones over her ears. Judging by her absentminded appearance, she was either listening to music or some kind of program.
If Mark saw these headphones, he would definitely swear because the person who had 'kidnapped' him and forced him to speak in front of a crowd was her.
"Hello everyone. I might not even be older than the oldest student here, but if anyone gives me trouble, I'll beat them up without holding back."
With the appearance of a rebellious teenage girl, Ada had just opened her mouth and already threatened to beat up the students.
Who knew whether she was serious or not, but there were several hundred hunters in a single class. With just an A-rank hunter like her, did she really think she could beat up whoever she wanted? It was far too arrogant and unreasonable.
"Ahem, ahem, everyone, don't misunderstand."
The moment Ada opened her mouth, Zero immediately cleared his throat. He had to quickly explain to avoid any misunderstandings.
There hadn't been problems like this in previous years, but this year, the prepared script had already been completely thrown into chaos, so Zero was a little confused and simply did whatever came to mind.
Before, Crow told the students to kill him, and now Ada was threatening to beat up the students. Without an explanation, the students might think the academy was a place where teachers could do whatever they wanted.
"The American Hunter Academy has been operating for decades. If this were a place where homeroom teachers could cause trouble however they wanted, it would have been exposed by the press long ago. As long as everyone behaves properly, the homeroom teacher won't do anything to you."
This explanation didn't seem to have much effect. The students might be young and inexperienced hunters, but they were at least eighteen years old. They weren't a bunch of clueless children who didn't understand how the world worked.
"Let me be blunt. The reason you came to the academy is…"
Ada glanced at the thousands of people in front of her and was about to speak honestly. But Zero immediately grabbed her by the collar and threw her straight into the spatial gate.
Who here didn't understand the purpose of coming to the American Hunter Academy? But saying it outright would mean that they were here to build connections and get some training while they were at it.
Here, although the official school year was one year, it could actually last two or three years. As long as it wasn't dragged out for too long, the academy could still accept it.
If it was dragged out for too long, that would be considered a crime of taking advantage of the American Hunter Academy to recruit members for another organization or seek personal benefits.
Just like Nick enrolled last year but took a break halfway through to intern at the Hunter Association. Now that he had nothing left to do at the Association, there was no problem with him coming back here to continue his studies.
"Let me briefly introduce her abilities. She is an A-rank hunter whose role is to disrupt multiple enemies. Her ability is called Shadow Binder. Her shadow can chase after and capture the shadows of her enemies.
The enemies themselves won't be restrained, but their shadows will be locked down by her. When an enemy moves outside the range of their shadow, the energy within them will continuously be depleted."
Even though Ada was no longer standing here, Zero still had to follow the proper procedure and introduce her abilities.
"Next, I'd like to briefly introduce some of the other academy members who will assist you during your studies…"
The people who came next were also quite formidable, but compared to the six homeroom teachers, they weren't as important. Hardly anyone was really paying attention to them, because what they were waiting for now was to find out which class they would be assigned to.
"Before we get to the class assignments, there is one thing I need to make clear to everyone. Although all of you here are talented, you have no right to choose or change your class. This year, there are five exceptions who have the freedom to enter and leave all classes. They are Nexus, Lailah, Draven, Bell, and Nyx."
At Zero's reminder, everyone listened attentively and nodded. The order in which Zero called their names also made the level of priority of each person clear.
First was Nexus, and there was no need to say much about him. Lailah was someone with a strange ability but a weak body. Under normal circumstances, she wouldn't have been given any special treatment, but with Nexus backing her, no one dared object to her privilege.
Draven had the highest status among the S-rank hunters of this generation because of his position as the guildmaster of the Gold guild.
Next was Bell because Bell was the heir of the Wolf guild. Nyx was last because she currently didn't represent any faction.
Besides these five, Zero had initially thought of Mark as well. But he wasn't so slow-witted that he couldn't figure things out.
Based on the fact that Nexus had let Mark enroll alone, Zero could guess that Nexus wanted his disciple to become independent. So not giving Mark any special privilege was the best way to handle this situation.
"I just want to make it clear to everyone that those who possess special privileges must all be more exceptional than others. If any of you demonstrate value surpassing theirs, you will naturally be given special treatment as well. So, does anyone have any objections?"
Zero's question once again plunged the square into silence. Who would dare object at a time like this?
Showing dissatisfaction now meant disrespecting Principal Zero. Moreover, if even one of those five wasn't easygoing, it would naturally cause major trouble. Anyone with a brain would know that this wasn't the time to attract negative attention.
"Good. We've reached an agreement, so don't let anyone object to me about this later. Next, everyone, open the academy's app on your phone and proceed with the random draw."
