The Only Cultivator in a World of Hunters
Chapter 179 - Ada
Of course, the figure that suddenly appeared in front of Crow was Nexus. It was really unlucky that Crow had not even been able to act cool for two seconds before Nexus ruined it.
The confidence that a top-tier tank with an endless recovery ability naturally had instantly vanished. Crow still clearly remembered the scene from earlier when hundreds of different abilities were completely nullified in an instant.
There were also some A-rank hunters among the students standing in the plaza. Crow did not think he was special enough to deal with Nexus's completely illogical ability.
"Mortal, you seem pretty confident. Let me see if I can kill you or not?"
Nexus smiled as if he was not smiling. Was this even a question? Only an idiot would think Nexus was not certain about killing Crow.
Being threatened so blatantly like this, Crow was drenched in cold sweat from the suffocating pressure. Although it had not reached the point where his hands and feet were trembling, he now just stood frozen like a stone statue, unable to do anything else.
Could this count as being similar to the act of playing dead that some animals often used? Probably not, but there were still some similarities. Both were ways of protecting themselves when faced with absolute power they were helpless against.
"Are you deaf? What do you mean by not answering me?"
Nexus lightly stomped his foot. The blood-colored magic formation on the ground immediately shattered and disappeared.
This was not some kind of superpower. Nexus had simply used a much greater amount of energy to directly crush Crow's ability.
"No, no, that's not it. It's just that getting to see the great Nexus from this close has left me stunned. How could I believe that someone as great as you would be this close to me? Could you sign your name on my forehead?"
He had been arrogant just a moment ago, but now he was just as humble. Crow grinned and quickly pushed up his hair, offering his forehead to Nexus for an autograph.
Only an idiot would fight Nexus. Even if he did not get killed, it would not be a pleasant experience. It was better to take a step back and make life a little more beautiful.
Despite his incredibly shameless behavior, no one dared to laugh at him except Nexus and Lailah. If they were in his shoes, they might have handled the situation even less smoothly. As for the only two people who could laugh, neither of them found anything funny about it.
"An autograph? Do I need that kind of thing? Even if I had an autograph, you think a mere mortal like you deserves to have mine?"
Someone like Nexus naturally would not have an autograph. He did not even have a name before, so where would he get a signature from? Now that he had a name, he still did not need a signature.
Moreover, he had never dealt with any administrative procedures, never signed a contract or anything similar, so having a signature would be useless anyway.
"I sincerely apologize. I was being too presumptuous."
Even though Nexus looked down at him with his nostrils, Crow was not angry and instead smiled. His acting deserved a ten out of ten. Nexus knew he was acting, but there was no reason to make things difficult for him because his performance was too convincing.
He came quickly and left just as quickly. Nexus suddenly disappeared in front of thousands of people like that. This time, he could not even be bothered to fly and simply disappeared because this was not his true body.
High above the clouds, on top of the dragon, Nexus had never left Lailah's sight, so she had no idea what he had just done.
"Ahem, sorry about what just happened. Don't let what you just saw give you the wrong impression of Crow. Being able to bend and stretch is what makes a true man."
As for Zero's excuses, Crow was grateful, while everyone else could not be bothered to believe them.
Being this skilled at pretending to be humble, his personality was definitely shameless too. He might not be a bad person, but he was still someone they needed to be wary of.
"Let's not talk about this anymore. Let me explain Crow's ability in more detail. That ability is called Crimson Rebirth. He can summon a blood-colored magic formation.
As long as he is within the range of the magic formation, he can instantly recover from any injury, no matter how fatal, until his energy is completely depleted."
The ability sounded incredibly tough and overwhelmingly powerful, but many people did not think so. The main reason was Crow's extremely disappointing performance just now.
"Is the magic formation very easy to destroy? Just now, Nexus... the great Nexus only had to lightly stomp on it, and it shattered."
A student standing near the podium spoke up. He had originally intended to casually say Nexus's name, but suddenly remembered Nexus's strange way of speaking and immediately switched to using an honorific to avoid trouble.
Naturally, Crow was visibly unhappy at having his ability looked down upon by a student like this. What could his A-rank ability possibly use to fight someone stronger than an SS-rank hunter? If they wanted to judge him, they should at least be a little fair!
"Hmph, do you think there are any humans or monsters who can rival the great Nexus and actually fight me?"
Crow immediately cleared his throat. He tried to make the most logical argument possible to regain the dignity that had just been trampled into the ground.
Everyone had no objections after hearing this explanation. If it were them fighting Nexus, the result would not be any better.
Zero clapped a few times to draw everyone's attention. He could not let everyone get sidetracked from attending the opening ceremony to marveling at Nexus's power.
"Next, please welcome the final homeroom teacher. She is the youngest among the group of homeroom teachers at only twenty-six years old. Ada!"
Following Zero's loud announcement, a young woman slowly walked forward, both hands still buried deep inside the pockets of her oversized hoodie.
She wore a mask, and her tall figure was quite attractive. However, her clothes covered most of her body, so it was difficult to tell from a distance just how beautiful she was.
Her long hair, with alternating strands of purple and black, was quite eye-catching, but compared to her hoodie and sparkling seven-colored mask, it was nothing special.
