The Most Arbitrary Wizard
Chapter 398 - 187: "Master is Brilliant!
"Leave her eyes. Take them back to the Night Watchers."
"Yes, Master." Although Eleanor had never done anything so cruel and was terrified, she braced herself and agreed.
"Let me do it." Sopea could see the young woman’s kind heart. This was perfect; he could personally avenge his old brother.
"You help me hold her down."
Eleanor hesitated for a moment. Seeing that Sean said nothing, she finally nodded. "Alright. I’ll leave it to you, Mr. Sopea."
"It’s no trouble." Sopea glared at Bofunova, his eyes full of killing intent. "It’s what I ought to do."
The next second,
the air solidified, forming invisible shackles.
Three days after the last time, as Eleanor softly chanted a Spell, Bofunova was once again frozen in place, unable to move an inch.
Watching Sopea walk toward her step by step, Bofunova’s face twisted in terror. Her once beautiful, charming features were distorted as she screamed, "Mr. Sean!"
"You promised you’d give me a chance!"
"You’re a man! You can’t go back on your word!"
Sean shook his head. "Wrong again, Miss Bofunova."
"A man’s words are the last thing you should ever trust."
With that, he looked toward Dorunla in the corner. "That last piece was good. Continue."
Dorunla seemed to have foreseen what was about to happen, and her voice trembled. "Y-Yes."
The sound of the piano rose once more.
Soaring, fervent, and terrified.
Like a surging tide crashing into a city, submerging everything.
Bofunova shrieked, "No!"
"Don’t, Mr. Sean, I’m begging you! I’ll do anything, just don’t kill me..."
"AHHH!!!"
A miserable wail pierced the sky above Kovloki Castle, adding a perfectly fitting accompaniment to the surging, passionate march of revenge.
"Quick, turn away. Don’t look." Yisha covered Koni’s eyes.
But she herself watched with immense enjoyment, even sticking out her small, pink tongue to lick her lips.
’People from our Viper Family just love this kind of bloody, gory scene.’
Elise, on the other hand, clicked her tongue and said to Sean, "I didn’t think you’d actually go through with it."
After all, Bofunova was a classic Sonaros State beauty—fair-skinned and gorgeous, with long legs, a slender waist, and a smoking hot body that was in no way inferior to her own. Gouging out her eyes was a bit too cruel.
For a woman, her face was sometimes more important than her life.
Sean’s reply was the same as before: "She deserved it."
Outside, the Witch Hunters faintly heard Bofunova’s agonized scream, and they looked toward the villa with alarm and uncertainty.
"What was that sound?"
"What happened?"
"Did I mishear something?"
They wanted to go in and see, but they didn’t dare.
Bofunova had given an order: no one was to set foot in the villa without her permission.
But they soon got their answer.
Sean, Elvire, and the others walked out, their voices cold.
"No need to guess."
"Your Miss Bofunova is dead. She killed herself."
This wasn’t just an excuse Sean made up; Bofunova had indeed committed suicide.
The pain and despair of losing her eyes had overwhelmed her will to live. Even if she managed to survive, return to the New World, and break through to become a Grand Mage, her physical mutilation meant she could never become a noble again. So, the moment Sopea took her eyes, tears mixed with blood streamed down her face, and she chose to kill herself, preserving one last shred of dignity.
"Nonsense!"
"How could Miss Bofunova kill herself?"
"Why would she kill herself??"
Some refuted the claim.
Some demanded answers.
Some were afraid.
Sean couldn’t be bothered to respond.
"You don’t need to understand any of that."
"All you need to know is that Bofunova is dead. Now, it’s your turn."
This was their seventh day in Sonaros State.
Rivers of blood flowed in the Kovloki Family’s castle.
And in Krim State, rivers of blood also flowed through the halls of the Wolf Family.
Without Carlos and twenty Tier Six members, Wolf Castle was completely unable to withstand the joint assault of the three states’ Wizard Organizations. Their defensive lines were easily broken, much like the Long Night Union when it was besieged all those years ago.
The difference was, the Wolf Family had no Night Watchers.
Nor did they have a group of Wizards willing to die gruesome deaths, to use their very bodies to protect their faith and their territory.
It was night in Krim State.
Rain was falling.
The members of the Wolf Family were either dead or on the run, their former haughtiness as Hunters completely gone.
The two great Witch Hunter Families were ultimately erased from the Farm World on the same day.
...
「Three days later.」
「New Elderidge Cathedral.」
The leaders of the numerous families gathered once again for a meeting.
The seats belonging to Bofunova and Carlos were empty. Only the placards bearing their names remained on the table. Sunshine filtered in through the high, stained-glass windows, illuminating the placards. Dust motes danced in the light, making the spots look like two small, forgotten memorial altars.
No one looked happy.
This was especially true for the man who had told Bofunova to prepare herself last time.
The man’s name was Angus Zin. He was from a former Count Family, and the Zin Family was one of the few Witch Hunter Families in the Farm World to have had a glorious past.
"I warned her," Angus said, his face grim.
But obviously, Bofunova hadn’t listened and had followed in the footsteps of the Florist Family.
Three families destroyed by the same group of Wizards in the span of a single month. This was no longer a matter of saving face. How were they going to explain this to the Church Court?
Although it was Bofunova and the others’ own fault, a result of them underestimating their enemy, they were all Hunters. To let their prey run wild for so long, to have three families wiped out without even catching them—they couldn’t escape the blame.
The most frustrating part was that, even with all the deaths, no intelligence on the enemy had been passed on.
To this day, they still had no idea how Sean and his group had managed to annihilate three families in a row.
"If that woman had listened to a single word I said, we wouldn’t be in this situation," Angus cursed.
An old man leaning on a cane spoke in a raspy voice, "I heard they even gouged out her eyes."
Angus snapped, "Serves her right!"
"Ai, don’t say that. One shouldn’t speak ill of the dead," a kind-faced old woman sighed. "Besides, there’s no use talking about this now. What’s done is done. We should be discussing what to do next."
In their previous meeting, they had decided to lie in wait.
Based on the available intelligence, Sean wasn’t the type to sit still; he liked to run around. They could wait for Sean and his group to walk right into their trap. Whoever’s territory he entered would be responsible for teaching them a lesson.
But the reality was that Sean had been the one to teach *them* a lesson.
Bofunova was no Robert.
Anyone who knew her was aware that the woman’s Magic Power had nearly reached the absolute limit possible in the Farm World. The fact that even she had fallen to Sean and had her eyes gouged out was more than enough to serve as a wake-up call.
"We can’t wait any longer," a middle-aged man said.
When the enemy is weak and we are strong, waiting for Sean to deliver himself to our doorstep is the easiest method. But the deaths of Bofunova and Carlos have proven that Sean’s band of Wizards is terrifyingly powerful. Furthermore, according to the news we’ve received, Carlos also died in Sonaros State. At the same time, the Long Night Union, the Dawn Conference, and the Evil Cemetery—three Wizard Organizations—jointly attacked the Wolf Family. This shows that all of this was premeditated. Our plan to lie in wait might have been exactly what Sean and his group wanted to see.
If we keep waiting like this, we’ll likely be picked off one by one.
"Everyone, we have to report our work to the Church Court next month," the middle-aged man reminded them. "We don’t have much time left."
If Sean and his people are still alive by then, or have even destroyed a few more families, the Church Court will be furious, and none of us will have an easy time.
"So I suggest we put aside the matter of face for now."
"Let’s first join forces to eliminate this group of Wizards."
