The Most Arbitrary Wizard
Chapter 399 188: Dorunla
"ACHOO!"
Kovloki Castle.
In the garden, directing the servants as they cleaned, Sean sneezed again.
Elise teased, "Who's thirsting for your body now?"
Sean rubbed his nose, glanced at her, and said pointedly, "Who knows? It could even be someone close by."
"Is the writer hinting at me?" Elise's eyes curved into a smile. "Speaking of which, I mentioned coming to find you at night to discuss… positions. Has the writer decided on a time yet?"
Sean said, "I'm busy."
As he spoke, he said to a servant passing by with a water hose, "Hose down the great hall of the main keep as well."
The servant replied, "Yes, Mr. Sean."
There were a great many people in the garden, all of whom Sean had hired over the past few days.
The Kovloki Family had been completely cleared out. A place this large needed servants to be worthy of the noble title of "castle."
This time, Sean had no intention of giving up this territory.
Although he had to return to Siracle State and couldn't live here permanently, he could leave it to Konina and Genduo.
The two of them had considered it for a few days and ultimately decided to stay in Sonaros State.
They were both thrill-seekers. Now that they had become Wizards and been exposed to the supernatural, they didn't want to return to their ordinary lives—in fact, they couldn't. After all, the Kovloki weren't the only Witch Hunter Family, and there was more than one Smell Crow. Some things were simply unavoidable. It was better to strive to raise their Tier and protect themselves.
Sonaros State would be chaotic for some time to come.
But at the same time, it was also a great opportunity for them to temper themselves.
So, Genduo and Konina chose to stay. Besides coming to terms with reality and accepting the life of a Wizard, they could also do something to help Sean, who had saved them twice.
Sean was naturally pleased with this outcome.
He proceeded with his original plan, fixing up Kovloki Castle. From now on, it would be their "embassy" in Sonaros State.
This all sounded simple enough, but the reality was a logistical nightmare. For one, just clearing out the bodies took considerable effort. They had to finish that before hiring servants to clean, otherwise they would have scared people off. Beyond that, the Kovloki Family's business enterprises needed to be dealt with, including negotiations with the government. So when Sean said he was busy, he truly was; he had been swamped for days.
Elvire and the others were busy as well.
They had divided the labor. Elvire's group was in charge of finding some reliable Wizards to act as the public face of the operation. They had left in the morning and still hadn't returned.
"Is that so?" Elise leaned close to Sean's ear, her warm breath tickling his skin. "Is the writer really busy… or just scared?"
Sean scoffed. "You think you're brave? Why don't you try saying that in front of Elvire?"
Elise giggled. "On second thought, I'll pass."
'Joking with Sean in private was one thing,' she thought. 'But if I did it in front of Elvire, I might not live to see another sunrise.'
Nearby, Eleanor shot a quiet glance at Elise.
'She had a feeling that Elise wasn't just joking. It seemed more like she was testing the Master's attitude.'
'What if… what if the Master gave his tacit approval, and Miss Flame Crow wasn't around? Would Elise really not turn her joke into reality and go to the Master's room for a 'heart-to-heart chat' at night?'
"By the way, what do you plan to do about Dorunla?" Elise asked.
Sean was confused. "Isn't she a friend of Konina's friend?"
'That basically makes her Konina's friend. Shouldn't Konina be the one to handle it?'
"What I mean is, she's just an ordinary person. It's not good for her to be mixed up in the Witch Hunt Operation," Elise said. "I suggest we have Mr. Sopea erase that part of her memory. It would be better for everyone."
Sean thought for a moment, then nodded. "That could work."
'For a normal person, the less they know, the better.'
'I'm sure Konina and Dorunla will understand our reasons.'
...
「Later that evening.」
Out of respect for Dorunla, Sean waited for everyone to return before gathering them all in the great hall.
"Can I say no…?" Dorunla asked weakly.
'She knew this was for her own good, but having her memory erased sounded terrifying. What if she turned into an idiot?'
"You can," Sean said. "But if you run into any trouble or danger because of this in the future, you'll have to bear the consequences yourself."
Dorunla was speechless.
The image of Bofunova having her eyes gouged out three days ago flashed through her mind, and her fear intensified.
She had been having nightmares for the past two days.
'She'd never imagined that things like Wizards truly existed, let alone that they could be so cruel…'
'If Sean had lost that day, or if he hadn't saved her, would she have met the same fate?'
Konina squeezed her hand sympathetically and reassured her, "It's okay. It won't hurt."
Dorunla was speechless.
'That's not the point!'
Sopea spoke up. "I understand what you're worried about, but rest assured, there won't be any side effects."
Koni nodded in agreement. "Yes, Miss Dorunla. My teacher is very professional."
"We will only be removing the concept of 'Wizards' from your mind. That's all. We won't interfere with your other memories."
In other words, after her memory was erased, Dorunla would still remember them and the events of the past few days. The details, however, would be replaced with something more aligned with a normal person's worldview—a "gang war," for example.
"Really?"
'Dorunla was actually grateful that Sean had told her about this. With a Wizard's power, they could have easily done it without her knowledge, leaving her no opportunity to refuse.'
'But gratitude was one thing; she was still terrified.'
