Chapter 397 - 187: "Master is Brilliant!

「Farm World, Kovloki Castle.」

Eleanor had also used the Fallen Nether Technique. As soon as she heard Sean and Elvire mention this two-person Meditation Technique, she immediately understood what was going on.

’No wonder Carlos could suddenly vanish without a trace. So the him in the Farm World was just a Soul Reflection?!’

Eleanor recalled what Sean had instructed her sister to do a few days prior. ’Thank goodness Master was prepared.’ Her eyes sparkled as she looked at Sean. ’As expected of Mr. Blake. He’s so brilliant...’

But in truth, Sean hadn’t expected Carlos to know the Fallen Nether Technique either.

Daeli had once told Elvire that the Church Court considered the Fallen Nether Technique a forbidden text. After destroying the Hall of Truth, they had taken the book back and sealed it away in the Bright King’s Court.

Not even the Saintess, whose authority was second only to the Pope, was allowed to read it, let alone anyone else.

So, Sean had assumed that none of the Wizards currently living in the "New World" knew the Fallen Nether Technique, or had even heard of it. Naturally, he hadn’t considered it when making his plans.

But clearly, he had underestimated the extent of the Church Court’s hypocrisy.

Just because the common folk couldn’t light lamps didn’t mean the Church Court couldn’t start fires.

Luckily, he had Elise notify Olivia in advance.

Although at the time he had thought the Kovloki and Wolf families might have some other way to send messages to the "New World"—he just never expected that method to be the Fallen Nether Technique—the outcome should be more or less the same.

Sean had great confidence in his Saintess.

Putting his own relationship with Olivia aside, she was the one who had sent the Eleanor Sisters to the Farm World. If a real investigation were to take place, Olivia would be at risk of exposure. Therefore, no matter what, she would never allow Carlos to return to the Bright King’s Court alive.

Carlos knew too much.

He thought he would be safe by "logging off" on the spot and fleeing back to the "New World." Little did he know, he would be facing an "assassin" far more terrifying than the Eleanor Sisters, and even his family might be implicated as a result.

"Sigh... was it really necessary?"

Sean sighed regretfully.

’Wouldn’t it have been better to die by my hand?’

’At least there was no deep-seated hatred between us. I could have given Carlos a quick death.’

’But falling into the hands of the cold and ruthless Her Highness the Saintess... well, that’s a different story.’

"Master is brilliant." Eleanor was still immersed in her adoration of Sean’s "infallible" planning, feeling that this man was becoming more and more charming. If Sean hadn’t kept a card up his sleeve, her identity as a Grand Mage might have truly been exposed. After that, the thunderous wrath of the Church Court would have awaited her, and she most likely would not have escaped death.

From this perspective, Sean had saved her life.

Of course, Sean wouldn’t admit that it was just a lucky fluke. He might not care about saving face, but Lord Blake certainly did. So he just waved his hand calmly and said, "Don’t look at me like that. It was a small matter. There will be many similar incidents in the future. You’ll get used to it."

Eleanor nodded obediently. "Yes, Master."

Elvire: "..."

’There he goes again, putting on an act.’

Bofunova, standing to the side, had listened to Sean and the others talk for some time but understood almost nothing. She was one of those modern Wizards who was completely ignorant of the Fallen Nether Technique.

But there was one thing she did understand—

The Bright King’s Court!

"How do you know about the Bright King’s Court?!"

Bofunova stared at Sean, her expression a mixture of shock and suspicion.

’The Bright King’s Court is a force directly under the Pope’s command—an "army," you could say. It’s the Church Court’s most powerful law enforcement body, filled with innumerable Grand Mages. It only answers to the Pope and only exists in the "New World." But Sean and the others are natives of this Farm World... how could they possibly know it exists?!’

"No need to be surprised, Miss Bofunova."

Sean smiled. "The things we know might be more than even you know."

Bofunova: "???"

For a piece of prey from the Farm World to claim he knew more than a Hunter from the "New World" was an absolutely ridiculous joke. Yet, looking at Sean’s meaningful expression, and then at the Grand Mage maid beside him, Bofunova couldn’t bring herself to laugh at all.

A woman’s intuition told her she had underestimated Sean.

’There’s definitely more to this man than just his good looks!’

"Who exactly are you?" Bofunova suddenly felt a pang of fear.

She was a smart woman, but sometimes, the smarter one was, the more easily one could fall into despair.

’He could make a pair of beautiful twin sisters, both of whom are Grand Mages, willingly serve him as maids. He has connections to the "New World." He knows about the Bright King’s Court, and doesn’t even seem to take it all that seriously...’

’This man’s true identity was likely far greater than she could possibly imagine.’

"Instead of asking who I am, you should first ask yourself," Sean said, looking at her. "Miss Bofunova, haven’t you noticed something?"

"Over the past few days, regardless of what we’ve talked about—be it idle chatter or serious business—we’ve never made any effort to exclude you."

"We aren’t the least bit afraid of you reporting us to the Church Court."

"Do you know why that is?"

Bofunova’s heart sank.

’What other reason could there be?’

’Because dead men tell no tales!’

’Now that Carlos was dealt with, it was her turn.’

But the intense will to survive deep in her heart urged Bofunova to believe in another possibility.

She forced a fawning smile and said, "Isn’t it because Master has seen my good performance these last few days and now considers me one of your own?"

Sean chuckled. "You’re quite the comedian."

Bofunova: "..."

Sean: "I hope you’re this funny in your next life, too."

Bofunova: "?"

"Mr. Sean..."

Sean raised a hand, cutting her off. "Do it."

Originally, he hadn’t planned to kill Bofunova so soon; the Kovloki Family still had many companies and businesses in Sonaros State that hadn’t been fully handed over. But the incident with Carlos was a wake-up call: it was better to kill when necessary and avoid future complications.
