The Mafia Lord Forgotten Bride
Chapter 117: Cloth shopping
The ride to the mall was more comfortable than June had thought.
With the eviction of Elena hanging over their heads, she had thought it was going to be uncomfortable, but Rauf didn’t bring up the topic once.
And for that, June was thankful.
Once they got to the mall, she led Rauf towards the maternity wear section.
The section was filled with pregnant women shopping for clothes and hardly had any men in it. When Rauf stepped in, most of the women stopped what they were doing to steal a glance at him.
When June saw that most eyes were on him, she slowly slipped her fingers into his.
"Come on! I should be able to get some upfront."
She could see obvious jealousy in the eyes of the other women, and June wore a smug look.
She pulled him towards a section with clothes.
Having no idea what to do or what criteria June was looking for in her clothes, he stood behind her more like a guard.
But as soon as June started picking up clothes, Rauf began developing opinions.
"I don’t think that color looks good," he said about a particular outfit with orange streaks all over it.
June lifted it up and shrugged. "Okay."
That was all the encouragement Rauf needed.
He soon took over the shopping like he was June’s personal shopper.
He would pick an outfit, check it against her body and shrug or nod.
"This will do."
He threw another new selection into the cart.
June was certain by now that the women were probably jealous of her.
Some of them had abandoned their shopping just to look at Rauf.
Yet Rauf didn’t seem to see any of them. His attention was wholly on June.
Leaving Rauf to it turned out to be a mistake, as June’s cart was soon filled with more than she planned to get.
Satisfied, Rauf stared at the cart that was almost overflowing with new clothes.
And that was when he saw a woman coming out of the changing room, checking herself in the mirror to see if the clothes fit or not.
Immediately, an interesting idea came to Rauf.
"I think you should do that too." He pointed to the changing room.
June frowned.
She didn’t want to get changed in public, and there was the fact that there were so many clothes in here.
But Rauf shook his head.
"Look at that woman. If she hadn’t tried it on, she wouldn’t have known the clothes were smaller than her."
June raised a brow at him.
When did he start observing pregnant women testing their maternity wear?
"Fine. But I’m not testing all of these, and we’re returning most of these clothes."
Rauf nodded.
He led her to another changing room.
Thankfully, there was a sofa outside the changing room.
Rauf pushed June gently towards it and sent the cart after her.
Knowing there was no escape, June proceeded to test the clothes.
The first outfit was too small, so she changed out of it without going outside to show Rauf.
But when she wore a floral dress that fitted her without hugging her frame too much, she decided to show Rauf.
June thought he would finally have lost interest, and it would just be her looking at the mirror like the other women, but when she got out of the changing room, Rauf’s gaze was fixed on the door.
If June hadn’t known him well, she would have thought there was no change in his reaction, but she caught his eyes widening slightly.
"Beautiful," he complimented.
June blushed at the compliment, and before she knew it, she had started testing the rest of the clothes.
It was more fun with Rauf acting as her personal mirror.
He had a comment about everything she wore.
There were the sexy collections, the perfect ones, the pregnant baddie.
By the time they left the maternity wear section, June was smiling at the number of bags Rauf was carrying.
"With everything you’re carrying, it’s best we get to the car and just drive home straight."
Rauf loved the way she said home.
Wasn’t that a sign that she was seeing his place more like her place too?
He nodded. "Okay."
But he soon stopped in front of another shop.
June frowned until she also saw the contents of the shop, and her breath hitched.
Rauf watched as her eyes went from small to big.
"I think we should do some shopping for the baby too."
June looked at her stomach.
"Isn’t that too early? I mean, I’m just at the beginning of my second trimester."
Rauf had no idea what trimester meant, but he wasn’t going to change the topic.
"There’s nothing like too early. We can always come and get more clothes for my son."
June shook her head. "How are you so sure it’s a son?"
Rauf wore a serious expression.
"Because he’s so going to look like me."
June rolled her eyes at him.
"I’ll be sure to remind you of your words once I give birth to a girl."
With both in agreement, they moved into the baby shop.
Unlike the maternity shopping where there were clothes to test, here everything felt so cute and perfect.
Rauf picked up clothes and shoes, amazed that they would fit someone so small.
And before June could pick a single thing, Rauf had already cleared a row on the shelf.
He had picked everything.
June opened and closed her mouth at him.
"We’re only buying a few things, not the whole store."
Rauf nodded. "Of course. These are a few things. That’s why I haven’t bothered taking more."
June rolled her eyes.
"You just cleared everything on a row. You don’t bother checking the clothes."
"I’m certain my son will look good in anything. There’s no point checking the clothes."
June lifted a dress up with a smile.
"I’m sure your son will look good in this dress."
She burst into laughter.
One that wasn’t forced and genuinely looked like she couldn’t stop it from coming out.
Rauf watched her face.
She was so beautiful.
And that smile on her face was one he wanted to keep forever.
