The Mafia Lord Forgotten Bride
Chapter 116: Evicting Elena
After leaving Rauf’s room, June became conscious of her dress. She pulled at it. It was really tight.
As soon as she got to her room, June decided that if she was going shopping, it was time she checked out some of her older clothes.
She needed to know how many clothes she needed to get.
But it soon became clear to her that she needed to get more than she thought. It was hard to pull up the zipper on her jeans.
Some of her dresses stopped at her stomach.
June sighed, looking down at her stomach. She was becoming fat.
It wouldn’t do if she needed to fight the enemies. And Rauf wasn’t much help.
For the rest of the day, she avoided Elena like the plague, ate her food and thought about what she had heard from Rauf, along with her next plan to find out more about Dante’s grandfather.
She fell asleep with her phone and jotter right beside her.
When June opened her eyes the next morning and tried to get dressed, it felt like her stomach had grown bigger in just one day. Now, the kicks weren’t foreign to her anymore.
Sometimes, she anticipated them. It was like an assurance that her baby was alright.
She went through her wardrobe fast, dropping each piece of clothing with speed. Even the clothes Rauf had bought and put in the closet for her weren’t helping either.
She sighed. "I guess no training or detective work today. It’s shopping day."
After searching the closet, she was able to pull out a saving-grace dress.
She hurried to the kitchen. Much to her pleasure, Elena wasn’t in the living room.
She ate a quick meal of toast and a cup of tea before informing Rauf she was willing to go shopping.
Rauf had dark circles under his eyes as if he hadn’t slept all night, but one look at June had a smile appearing on his face.
June stopped advancing toward him. "Did I catch you at the wrong time?"
He shook his head, standing up. He was still in the same outfit from the previous day, but he had rolled his sleeves back in place, and his desk was messier.
June wanted to ask if he had found anything out about Dante’s grandfather, but she remembered what she had told herself.
Today was for shopping, not detective work.
"No. I’m good. Need anything?"
He looked busy, but she still asked. "I wanted to know if you’re open to going shopping today?"
Rauf froze.
At first, he thought he had misheard her. He never thought June would think about it so soon and give him a response.
Seeing that there was no response from him, she shook her head. "It’s fine if you don’t want..."
But before she could finish, Rauf spoke.
"Of course. I’m available. I don’t have anything on my schedule."
He glanced back at the files that needed his signature and the goods that needed approval to be moved to the state.
Moving was hectic, and it had kept him busy all night. Coupled with the fact that he was trying to find out more about the Monterrios.
"Great!" June replied.
For a strange reason, the atmosphere was suddenly awkward, and she found it hard to look him in the face.
"I’m ready when you are."
Rauf nodded. "Please, I need to get changed."
June settled herself in the chair.
She expected Rauf to walk out of the office, but instead, he opened a smaller door that was well hidden in the room and disappeared through it.
She frowned at the door. "I guess that answers the question of where he has been sleeping."
Her eyes drifted to the files on the table.
Would it be bad for her to take a peek at them? Maybe she would find more to add to her theories.
She shook her head.
Rauf had opened up to her the previous day. It would be disrespectful to snoop through his private files.
It wasn’t long before Rauf came out through the door. Gone was the suit as he was dressed in a casual polo shirt and jeans. It screamed casual, but Rauf made it sexy too.
Rauf opened the door for her, while June walked out with a small smile on her face.
What they both weren’t expecting was Elena standing in the living room, glaring at them.
"Where are you going?" she questioned, her gaze moving between them but stopping at June’s stomach.
June placed a protective hand over her stomach.
Before she could respond, Rauf pulled her back.
"Mum, I don’t think we have to tell you wherever we’re going."
Her gaze shifted to Rauf. "Are you planning to leave me all alone here? Ever since I came here, I haven’t gone out, and I’m bored."
Rauf nodded. "Is that all, Mother?"
She nodded. "What else is there supposed to be?"
"Fine, Mother," he continued. "I already informed Henson. He will take you to the guest house. I believe you’ll be able to go wherever you want from there and do whatever you want to do."
Elena opened her mouth.
When Rauf had told her he would be moving her to a guest house, she thought he was joking.
But now, it seemed he would do anything to satisfy June.
"I don’t want to keep you waiting, Mother." He placed his hand around June. "We’ll be taking our leave. If you need anything, you know how to get to me. As long as you stay away from bad company."
They left Elena with her mouth hanging open.
She glared at Rauf and June’s backs.
Even though Samir was a bastard, he was right about June.
Her hand folded into a fist beside her. Her eyes blazing with anger.
If Rauf was going to push her out of his house and she wouldn’t be able to separate them from inside, she’d have to find a way to separate them from outside.
