The Mafia Lord Forgotten Bride
Chapter 115: A Jealous Rauf
"I want to know everything too."
Rauf stared at her in awe. The fact that she had taken the initiative to research things herself showed that she deserved to know more than they told her.
"Well, I guess this will be today’s class."
Without an invitation, June settled herself in the seat opposite him, her eyes on everything but him.
"So, what do you want to know?"
She stole a brief glance at him.
He was staring at her.
June looked away.
This was a rare opportunity that she had to utilize well.
The Rauf she knew was all about protecting her. He never wanted her to know things, but now that he was willing to tell her some things, she had to milk it to her advantage.
"First, I want to know everything you know about Dante Monterrio."
Rauf frowned. He glanced at the picture she had shown him.
"How many of his pictures have you gone through?"
Confused, June squeezed her face. "Is that relevant?"
Rauf nodded. "Very relevant."
His face didn’t betray the rage in him. Even though it was research, he hated that she was spending so much time staring at pictures of another man.
Oblivious to what was going on in Rauf’s head, June counted in her head.
"I really don’t know. I think I saved so many of his pictures before finding this."
Rauf glared at the picture as if he wanted to burn a hole through it.
"Well, stop saving them. You don’t need them."
"Why?"
"If you want to learn anything about him, ask me."
June thought about it for a while.
Right now, she needed Rauf to give her information.
What if she refused and he decided not to tell her anymore?
"Fine."
But she knew it was a lie.
She would still research him.
Satisfied with the promise, Rauf nodded.
"Dante Monterrio is the heir to the Monterrio clan. They are one of the older generations of gangs that have been in existence since before the city became what it is today."
June frowned. "The heir? I thought he was the owner of the whole group."
Rauf shook his head. "Well, in a matter of time, he will be. Considering his grandfather is old and his father is late, it’s only a matter of time before he assumes full control of the clan."
June nodded, noting that down.
Fine, he was the heir to a bad gang.
So what?
"What does he have against Mother? And why haven’t I seen a picture of the grandfather anywhere?"
A small smirk appeared on Rauf’s lips.
June looked so cute when she was curious. Her eyes danced around as she scribbled in her jotter.
When June brought it out, he had found it cute, but also bold that she had found those things herself.
"Well, I really don’t know what the Monterrios have against the Vassaris. But this feud didn’t start with your generation. It’s an old feud, and I just hope it ends with this generation."
Rauf’s forehead furrowed.
"Your mother was once a victim of the Monterrios."
"Mother?" June asked.
It seemed she had heard about it.
Her mother had been kidnapped by the Monterrios when she was younger.
But what really made her curious was something else.
"How did Mother escape from them?"
Rauf pinched his nose. "Well, that’s a mystery. The only one who could tell that tale is Serena."
June already knew what the response would be if she dared ask Serena, so she let that slide.
At least she knew more than she had before.
"And his grandfather?"
"I already told you the man is old. I don’t think he attends any social gatherings, but I believe he still calls the shots when it comes to the real deals."
June imagined an older version of Dante with full white hair and those soul-piercing eyes.
Before June could ask more, Rauf continued.
"I think that’s enough for today. You’ve learned enough."
June stared at what she had written.
It wasn’t much, but it was better than nothing.
She would have loved to push for more, but Rauf seemed to have told her enough for now.
"Fine!" she responded, standing up and gathering her phone and jotter.
As she turned to leave the room, Rauf stared at her stomach.
"Are you comfortable?"
June paused while holding the handle of the door.
"I am." She raised a brow at him. "Why do you ask?"
Rauf’s gaze moved to her stomach.
"Your clothes seem tight around you. I feel they might be too tight for you."
She stared at her clothes.
They had stretched past their limit.
She was already planning to get more clothes but hadn’t found a way to fit it into her plans with everything going on.
She pulled at the edge of her shirt.
"I’m getting bigger. My clothes don’t seem to fit anymore."
"Let’s go shopping," Rauf said.
June blinked.
"Shopping?"
She had tried to understand when he followed her grocery shopping. She told herself it was because they were both going to eat the food.
But these clothes were for her.
"You don’t have to disrupt your schedule for my sake. I’ll be fine all by myself."
Rauf held her gaze.
"I don’t mind."
For a moment, June had no idea what to say.
But then she blinked at him.
"This is just my business. I don’t think it’s part of our agreement."
"Fuck the agreement!" he snapped.
But before June could argue, he calmed himself.
"I want to do this. I’m not trying to interfere in your business, but the reason your clothes don’t fit is because of my son growing inside you. So, if anyone should take responsibility for getting you new clothes, it should be me."
With the way he phrased it, June found it hard to counter his point.
And honestly, she didn’t want to go maternity shopping alone.
Her gaze moved over Rauf.
"Fine. I’ll let you know when I’m ready to go shopping."
